Thanks Mandy! Appreciate the view and the nice comment! I am keeping my seasons finds separate just so I see what I get in my first full year of hunting in VA. maybe I will do a wrap up video of everything I found in the year.
Ken appreciate you stopping by and taking a peek at the video! Also appreciate you taking the time to post up a comment! Take Care and check out a few of the other videos. Some are more entertaining than others but usually a good find or two in each video.
Hey buddy! I have no excuse for not getting together. Just didn't metal detect for the first couple years. Too many house and yard projects and lost that motivation for a bit. I reset my mind to Civil War, Rev War and colonial and I'm fired up again about the hobby!! I have always had a great time hunting with you and definitely need to make that happen again. Take care and thanks for always taking a peek and my finds and leaving a comment!!
Thanks David 👍 Appreciate you dropping in. Took me two years to get the house projects mostly done and to get motivated to dig again but having a great time digging in VA dirt!
Wish I could find a nice manicured lawn loaded with relics! I hunt in the woods and have to fight tree roots, underbrush, mosquitoes, garbage. Rock on!
Yeah that was one of my first permissions. Big yard and unusually watch and hit it after they mow. Lol. Close to the house and alway dig a few bullets. Thanks for dropping by
Ron, good segment. I like the last find a lot. You got to think about all the history that surrounds you every time you dig up something. Looking forward to your future finds.
Thanks Kevin. Crazy when you start thinking about who lost something and why! Part of the intrigue of this hobby. I really like finding personal items as they just seem to carry more weight and make you think harder about what was really going on. Appreciate the great comment
Wes- Thanks for dropping in once again! You will get over that pocket of nuggets sooner or later!! LOL Mark and I kind of stuck to ourselves for the most part but now that group has meshed a little bit since some local Facebook pages opened up. Plus, the super secret buckle group has been a little less anti internet and Mark is becoming a bit more known in those areas. I would have enjoyed the increased social aspect if I was still there!! Good luck to you and thank you for the nice words!
Ron y'all killed it on the buttons and bullets, but those times and 2cent piece and barber dime were knock outs. Congratulations to the both of y'all but the eagle plate made the hunt complete
Thanks Terry. Old coins are a blast to pop out! I had a super surprise coin today and that will be in a future video. Appreciate you always dropping in and posting up a nice comment!
Yes! Thank you! It was time to escape for personal reasons. Loved the roads for riding and loved the gold rush but cool relics are cool relics regardless of where you are. And you are right--plenty of old stuff back here. Dug an 1830 coin today. Will be in a future video. Thank you for the view and the comment.
Dude! I noticed you quit saying dude, since ya left Cali, jaja. Epic man. KILLER buttons...and that plate. Maybe that Vermont was worn by a captured soldier?? Hope to see ya this Spring bud. Later!
Thanks for the sub and hope you enjoy a few of the videos. This is a for fun only channel so just have a little fun!! Every now and again we get over a nice goodie or two worth sharing. Appreciate the comment!!
Thanks HP. Appreciate you dropping in and taking the time to post a comment. Check out a few of our other vids! Killer gold nuggets! 2015 was a good year so check out those! 👍🏻
Hey Joe, Thanks for dropping in. I took one Harley but it was the 2018 Road King Special. I finished the build and left the shovel with a friend and ultimately sold it to a young guy who was really into Shovelheads. I was happy to see it go to someone I knew was going to cherish it as much as I did. That bike was for working on and the 18 was for riding. LOL
@@RonSwensonRelicAdventures awesome. That was a great looking ride. Glad to see you got out of California and in a great state to hunt. Will miss the gold nuggets but hey.... some old gold coins out there. Best of luck.
Hey Marvin, Thanks for the view and the comment. Not sure what Mark is using but I (Ron) am using a Lesche Relic Model 38 (D handle) 😉 I added the foot kicker extension. (3/4" steel rod welded under the lip. Thanks for dropping by! That is a great shovel!!
Hahaha That’s your comment on this video? 🤷🏻♂️ we are hunting woods , fields and non manicured open areas. Not like we are hunting yards or parks. All holes are filled. I get a kick out of some comments 😂 thanks for stopping by.
Wow! It sure looks like you have made a nice dent in the eastern supply of goodies. Was that first big field as trash-free as it seemed. Happy for you!
hey riverbender! Thanks for dropping by. That first field is actually part of a big yard. It is a huge lot next to the owners home plot but he keeps is pretty well maintained. The dirt has been moved around and pretty close to a busy road so you get a variety of modern trash mixed in at all levels but overall I would say that you may dig 4-5 modern trash items to every bullet. Those 12 inch aluminum cans are a morale killer! Should be a buckle and then you see the aluminum. ☹
Think they are farther North of me. I met a couple of them once at a group hunt. Haven't got that invite to dig all their sites yet! hahahaha I have a buddy in Winchester who has hunted with them I believe.
Hey David-- Those are Ron Swenson Customs!! 😁 I took a old pair of Whites Pro Stars (I think they are Detector Pros-same body as the Grey Ghosts) Removed the cord, knobs, ear pads and the speakers. Filled the empty holes with JB weld and painted them a satin black Wired the puck, and soldered in the speakers from my old Vance headphones. Not sure he makes them anymore. Vance headphones sound great but fit like crap. I added GEL earpads and now have a great sounding, decent fitting headphone that I can wear all day. Cameron uses Detecting DoDads and they sound OK but I didn't care for the fit. Thanks for dropping In.
Tough to say which I like better. I started in 97 here in VA so I was a Civil War guy first and then adapted to Gold Rush when I moved to CA. Now I am reverting back to CW. The reality is once you have a mindset of what you are looking for then everything is exciting. I just like the thrill of popping up a cool relic, coin etc. I only hunted parks for the first couple years when I moved back to CA. I had a blast cuz that was my mindset. I dug piles of silver coins (300+ a year) and really enjoyed that. But drifted back into relics. But I will say that the scenery was much better in the Gold Rush areas. I do miss the types of sites that we got into. More fields and woods here in VA. Not as pretty when you are digging!! And it gets a lot colder here!
Hi Ron guess you’ll have to change the name to Virginia lol keep up the good work I’m in eastern Ct been river hunting on Ct river and one spot has given up close to 100 silver coins oldest Spanish 1//2 Reale KG11
Hey Mark thanks for dropping by. I though about changing it but I just dropped the state altogether. Now I can go anywhere and find relics. Was going to just change it to Random Stuff with Ron and expand the channel to whatever I wanted to post but then ecided I would just keep it simple to my core hobby!
I know right! 👍 I need to start dropping gold nuggets in with all the bullets and relics! Keep all you Gold Rush people entertained! hahahaha Thanks for stopping by and for the comment
Much appreciated for stopping by and for posting up a comment! Cleaning and repairing is almost as much fun as finding the stuff. I spent an hour fixing up an old Victorian broach cuz the landowner loved it. So I cleaned it up, straightened it and them put it in a display case for her. Sweet 88 year old lady and now she thinks I'm the best and have free will on the property!!
@@RonSwensonRelicAdventures people always asked me “how do you get these permissions?” By doing exactly what you just did with the older lady, earn their trust . I keep Watching eagerly for that first 1700s colonial silver brother
Hey Jeff, yes-the reasons you mentioned and more. The benefits of leaving out weighed the fun of digging gold rush relics. 😂 I loved CA weather and the nature but I am much better off personally and financially these days. A bit colder at times and a bit more humidity in the summer but I’m adjusting and have a Red Governor now! 😀and these relics are just as much fun to dig!! 👍🏻
Wow what a hunt and your collection of History is incredible
