It should be noted that no XY GT ever competed in a Bathurst ‘1000’, only Bathurst ‘500’s , which is about 625 kms.
My all time favourite muscle car ❤
Thumbnail looks nothing like it.
Thumbnail car is good looking.
Yeah, wtf is up with the thumbnail? Totally different car, coupe instead of 4 door sedan, american styling never seen in Oz. :P
Great car, but as someone who built four of them for racing between 1969 and 1971, it took 3 months and another $10k to make one race ready. In fact we imported the engines from Charlotte Ford and reinstalled the originals when we sold them. As stock, they were little more than GTs with some extras for homologation.
Favourite falcon to drive was a absolute pleasure
All the pics of an XY with Globe wheels. NO XY was ever sold with them. They were 'retro homolgated' by Ford giving XY owners the wheels that were made for an XA
I was born in 1968, so can't relate to these cars. By the time i could drive, they were way out of date, yet they still generate endless media attention.
My first car was an XE Falcon, a 3-3 four speed. These rarely rate a mention these. Days, yet i can better relate to them. I'm all XY'd out. They were more for the previous generation, but do they even look at channels like this nowadays?
The XE was well and truly in the demise of performance era of the Falcon which continued for another decade at least.
There’s vertically nothing iconic about a XE, although I would think the 351 version would be quite desirable and rare now..
My all time favourite along with the Falcon Coupes... but funny to think my current 4 cylinder Focus ST Mark IV kicks it's arse in acceleration, handling and top speed...!
I think I'd be happy to swap my ST for one of these though.... any takers....?
Great video. Can you do one on the Torana GTR-XU1 as well?
By the thumbnail the producers of this channel have no idea about cars. Just regurgitating shite from Wikipedia!
What car is that on the thumbnail ????
Looks south american falcon with a 60 chevy grille
AI GT🤣
That wasn't any ford sold in Australia that I know of. Maybe an American one
@@kimmckenzie6848 Pretty sure it’s an AI hodgepodge. Kinda looks like the Brazilian Opala muscle car.
Change the thumbnail. No one likes AI
give me a hq coupe anyday😉😉😉😁
So one can enjoy super terminal under-steer…great looking car though. Personally I prefer HK…
.... you could have between 5 and 10 HQ coupes for the cost of one Phase III ....!
If you like the coupe style, the Falcon Coupes kicked the HQ in Looks & performance all day long.
Still the HQ coupe was a nice car... i'd still be happy to own one.
They are so overrated it's not funny they were good in a straight line and went pretty hard bad brakes and understeer, they were a good car in their time but not worth all the rave they get same thing with the Toranas .
That's the point, they were a great car for there time.
@@dennisdallenogare3930 The point is they are not worth anywhere near what people want for them i owned an XYGT and an XAGT many years ago not worth a million bucks any GTHO 1,2OR,3 it's beyond a joke
Each to their own.
An oil painting isn't worth 50 t0 100 million either but that is what people pay. I owned an xbgt hardtop and a landau in the 90s. It's not about the car but the collection. Supply and demand.
It's the car that all other Aussie cars are rated by...Not over rated. There were about 100 upgrades from the GT..the suspension was tuned for performance ...they were basically a race car straight off the showroom floor...give me a HO any day over any truly over rated Ferrari , Porsche ,Mercedes etc ...at least they wouldn't fall to bits and cost a mint to fix..
The Charger hemi 265 E49. Its my aussie muscle weapon of choice. Oboxious rebel 6 cyl. That farts on clevo V8's in everything but top end speed.
🖕 It would be the princible quality weapon of choice. For an evil overlord of wealth & taste. Hint. If satan had to choose an Aussie muscle car to roll in . That would be the ONLY choice. GOD HIMSELF KNOWS I'M RIGHT!
