Well, that was unexpected; I've been learning Paganini's caprice no.24 and was trying to work out how to get the speed on guitar (was trying very fast slides, sweep picking, different note configs etc) but was loosing out on note definition because, like a complete moron, I didn't think of this. Good thing my curiosity made me double-check my fundamentals - thanks a bunch for the video!
@@Kingofrestrrooms666 Thanks mate and I try; started age 9 and I'm 25 now - do the maths ;) but yeah there's a quote from League of Legends (of all places) that goes 'A true master is an eternal student' which pretty much summarises how I view guitar. Everyone on Earth knows something you don't - and sometimes it's guitar-related! It helps that even in this age of electronic music there's still bands like Polyphia and Covet that push the envelope of what's possible and remind me just how far I have to go before I can call myself an expert let alone a master. The Dunning-Kruger effect is not kind to me. Once again though, thanks for your comment, it's nice to feel there's something of a community among guitarists. Good luck in your studies!
@@Kingofrestrrooms666 No I don't play Piano, but I do occasionally play some banjo, bass and drums which has helped me focus on certain aspects of my guitar playing (e.g. finger-picking, slap/groove and timing/percussive playing). Not so sure about the teaching part though; I'm not a particularly technical player - when it comes to the tricky bits I just brute-force my way through it with practice lol, so my technique definitely has room for growth and I'd risk passing on my bad habits if I did teach.
Be aware that, beginners, hammering on and pulling off is really what is depicted here, very well and appreciably, but if you think about it from the beginning, how can you do the same exact thing and yet call it 'tapping'? Tapping is when you TAP and do not press the the string down at a point where it is dividing the string into sections which each have a relevance musically to the pitch of the string being tapped. Think of 'tapping' your buddy on the shoulder as opposed to 'hammering' him on the shoulder instead; VERY different results, and each deserves its own terminology. 40 years ago - one of the first things I learned about playing.😏It is too late for me to change the world, unfortunately, lol---🥴
oh no learning guitar is gonna break my fingers, I already have to press so hard for my strings not to squeak at me, hammering is gonna amputate my fingers LOL ty for teaching this though it really helped!!
@00;52, correct me if I'm wrong but the first note he plays on the 5th fret 'A',, isn't a hammer on as he says it is,... is it? With the hammer off he lifts the finger off the fret board. When I hammer on my finger is off the fret board then strikes the string (hammer on)
@@adityagoyal7110 The reason was, the string doesnt vibrates enough to make a sound. you have to tap it stronger for acousting. Electric guitar strings are soft thats why it make sense
Mostly tapping is done via amplifier. But in my case I changed my right hand position and muting the string above with the middle finger while the index one is tapping (acoustic).
There are different ways to make a sound out of a string, especially if your instrument has an amplifier. In this case pull off is a kind of strumming.
This guy looks so kind.
I read this as the video was loading, then his face appeared and I fucking lost it. LMAO. You’re not wrong!
@@jjchaos2024 Lol that's awesome
He reminds me of one of the Wiggles
I think most guitarist are. You need lots of patience to learn it. More patient = more kind
Hes the donut doctor
It's a short video on tapping yet shows underlying technique of tapping. I'm grateful it helped me much.

@@Neion8Yeah, I started playing guitar 4 years ago (when I was 10) and I can confirm, there is always something to learn.
Kudos to you man, well explained for beginners unlike others who just wanna show off.
Thank you! Wonderful lesson 😊
Why does my guitar not make as much sound as yours when u do it? (How do I fix that?)
Thanks, I really needed to learn this fast

My acoustic doesn't make a very audible sound on pulling off, any help?
