It's more than just this relay. The compressor oil is very cheap and degrades after a few years - depends how hard the compressor has to work. As oil wears down, compressor too wears down and take longer too cool down, so overheats even more.. and wears down even faster. It's designed to fail after 3-5 years, depends how often you open door or put fresh items to be frozen
Oh wow! Good to know. Thanks
Thank you! exactly the kind of freezer I had and problem resolved!
Awesome! I’m glad it helped!
Great tutorial on fixing Haier deep freezer. I ordered the relay Friday on Amazon and it was delivered this morning plus it took me less than two minutes to swap it out and now our freezer run like brand new. Oh, the relay was less than $30 considering the arm & leg an electrician would have charged ❤️❤️❤️💯💯💯

Sounds like your relay was OK but the overload protector did it's job as a glorified fuse and had to be replaced. Logically that would be the first step in this situation, before investing in the more expensive relay assembly. Good to know it is there, so thank you.

To take the black cover off, looking at the front right of the cover on the side there is a recessed dark slot hole in there is the lock clip , just put a flat head into it an pull the cover back it will release
Thank you! I appreciate the help!
Nice job!
Thank you.
Sounds like my problem, which just corrected itself. Our freezer was jam-packed with too much meat and other packages. It made it difficult to close. The freezer itself was not getting cold and the icemaker motor was grinding.. I emptied out the freezer and put everything in the garage. I then set the freezer on 0 degrees. A few hours late,r the freezer was getting cold again and the icemaker was fine. I think that overload unit did exactly what it was supposed to do.
That’s good to know! I’m glad you were able to fix it before everything went bad!
That’s helpful!

it would be great if you could show us how to take the black plastic cover off. Haven't figured that out yet.
Mine just pooped off, there are a couple screws holding in the relay switch though.
Mine wouldn’t come off either after taking the screws out.

I think this is the problem with mine. 5 cubic feet Hisense brand and 15 months old. The compressor gets super hot. It starts for about 5 seconds and turns off for 4 minutes and does that cycle constantly. I unplugged the thing and considered it dead. Since it's dead anyways, I might as well try to fix it myself, I mean, it can't be more broken than it is.
Exactly! That what I did! Just try and see if you can fix it.
My freezer has couple of big holes in the bottom when turn ed upside down, The aluminum sheets and paper stuff are soaking wet. I ripped all aluminum and paper off. Where are the leaking from? Any suggestions?
Hmmm, could be condensation or something could be leaking inside your freezer. If it continues to leak, you might need a new one.
I have the exact same freezer, same part number and everything. But I have a big white 10 microfarad capacitor inside. And I ordered the relay in the description and it’s different than the one I have already installed. And I also ordered the overload protector and there seems to be no spot for it
Hmm. That’s strange. Have you been able to look up that model number?
Have same relay switch as in your video, but can't find part number to order new switch. Can I get info to get a switch like in your video? Thanks! Currently using an RC 410(?) and freezer works, but would like correct part.

Does it come off?
Do you have a link for the relay? I have the same machine but I cannot find it. Thank you.
You got it. It’s in the description. Let me know if this helps.
Replaced both parts, exact same setup as yours, compressor started running, I turned the thermostat up and heard a click, saw and smelt smoke from the relay so I unplugged it. Any ideas?
That stinks. There could be another issue in the wiring or one of the parts failed. If those didn’t work, it might be done. I would be careful if it started to smoke.
Do you by chance know the part # for the relay switch? I have checked on Amazon and unable to locate it. Do you know if I could get it at Lowes or Home Depot?
Hmm. I don’t. Did you look in the description? I think I have a link there.

I am working on a big deep freezer approximately 300ltrs (1/4 compressor) the issue am having is that it not freezing inside, the suction line outside freezes and drops water everywhere initially I thought I over charged it (r600a) I started reducing the gas till it was nearly emypt still not freezing please I need your detailed help
Hmm, is the line clean? Could you flush it and see if that fixes it?
@@TryThisDIYFix I have done that still yet am kind of confused wether I should change the gas to r134a
@@coldweather9628 I’ll be honest, I’m not sure about that one. Sorry about that. Thanks for watching the videos and again I apologize but I’m not sure.
I took the back off mine and removed the 3 screws but the black box isn't popping off. Do you know why?
Hmm. If it’s a different model it could have another screw. Also there is a lip that you need to pop I believe. But don’t break the plastic.
I'm not sure but I think I have the opposite issue here. My upgright freezer (on a frost free freezer) over freezes the coils and then nothing stays cool. and everything starts melting. I've replaced the thermostat but from what i've read it can be the heating element or this Defrost timer that's in the back of the freezer. Your thoughts sir? FYI, everytime I replace the Defrost thermostat it works for about 2 to three months then the same thing happens again.
Hmm that is weird. You might have a shirt somewhere if I keeps doing that. You might want to see if there is an issue somewhere in the line or even in the wall. You might also need to replace the item I did as well since that could also be the problem. Let me know if you find anything. Thanks for watching!
@@TryThisDIYFix Thanks! I decided I'm going to replaced the heating element and defrost timer as those can only be the last two culprits that I can think of. I'm not a refrigeration tech so these are only guesses from video and stuff I read on line.. I figure it's way cheaper than buying a new one.
@@systemfailed9106 yeah that’s a good call! Let me know if those work.

Yes, it just unplugs.

Hi! So my freezer had a two piece start relay & overlaod, so I replaced it with a "Compressor 4.7 Ohm 3Pin PTC Starter/Start Relay and Overload Kit". The fit is good, but it is still not working. It was transported on its side (wrong, I know), but it has sat upright for a week. The compressor is very hot to the touch, and it will not cool. What could be the problem? Should I try the parts in your video? The model is very old - Haier Model #HCM050EC.
Hmmm, I have heard about parts messing up in transit. But it’s worth trying different parts to see if it works. Also try them one at a time then together. There is a small chance that one of the new parts in messed up.
@@TryThisDIYFix thanks for the quick reply! I had not thought to try them separately... I will try that. I did not use the part you listed because it was 1 piece (hard to follow where connections should go when it is not identical) ... How do I know if it is not the part (name?) that goes where the temperature setting is on front?

so what was the problem? overload how does that come off? thanks
I think the switch went bad. It just has a few small screws then it pops off.
My solar deep chest freezer only work and cool for few minutes and cut off. What is the cause
Hmmm. When it cuts off dies it stop working? You could check and make sure the fan isn’t dirty. You could also check and make sure that it’s not tripping the breaker. You also could change the piece that I changed in the video and that might help as well.
Was the compressor not starting up, or was it humming but not gettin gcold?
Hmm. I don’t think it was even starting up. What’s yours doing?
@@TryThisDIYFix Seems to be humming along. I THINK its running.. which would suggest coolant loss, but the freezer hasn't been dropped or moved of bumped, so that seems like an unlikely cause. It clicks a little if I turn the thermostat. Does a failed compressor still hum? It seems several freezer repair videos skip the diagnostic process...
Thanks for the assist.

dude I have a chest freezer, started to leak water on floor every 20 hours about varies` does not have drip tray underneath neither one at the back, drain plug is unblocked and the freezer is keeping the food frozen,
Need advice on this to where this water is coming from, please?
Hmm. That’s odd. Can you see where the water is coming from? Maybe put some cardboard underneath and figure that out first.
@@TryThisDIYFix HI, I placed a metal catering tray underneath right-hand side` nothing on the tray but left-hand side of the floor under freezer and on the floor in the tile cement grooves 3ft along there was water, it come somewhere from under freezer then runs along the grout that fills around the tiles ,
So then I placed the big tray under the left side next day loads of water again the same as last time left side of floor but only one drop of water on the tray,
@@piecetoyou8285 hmm. That’s odd. It could be condensation from underneath. Is it outside or inside? And is it just happening now that it’s cold?
@@TryThisDIYFix Before you written your last reply
I noticed hundreds of droplets 'that suggests condensation, but not under the freezer yet,
The pantry 2ftx2ft and 8ft high has a economy boiler against the wall, we removed the pantry door,
The chess freezer`s left side is semi blocking the pantry opening, unfortunately this is the only place we could place it,
Now our whole kitchen quarry tile floor was placed down on a concrete floor, the pantry and freezer are along the kitchen wall this wall is an outside supporting wall running side of house and has slight black fungi all the way along four-inch up from the bottom, showing sign of cold or rising damp. House is 1940s, damp proof possibly black tar witch cracks over the years.
Now when the house heating goes on then off on the night there is warmth in the kitchen but outside the temp has dropped dramatically, as the boiler area is like a trap for heat and the floor being freezing condensation is quickly produced, enough so it causes water to run along the grooves of the tiles and goes under freezer as well.
I also notice on the freezer underneath panel it looked slightly wet as well, as if moisture is gathering on the underneath of the freezer,
Now I know why no water does not land in try its the condensation from floor, but could this be heat from the freezer drifting towards the pantry area floor causing the amount of condensation or would you think its heat from kitchen getting trapped in pantry,
So, you were correct, my misses said it never happened a few days ago only a tiny tiny amount, this must have been when the weather was less cold or less heating on that day.
@@piecetoyou8285 yeah. That has happened to me. I’ve seen the freezer have condensation when it gets ready warm or cold.

Did it make a hissing sound?
