Fat Handle Tech one of my favorite razors. Smooth!
the nice thing with two blade banks is that one is nice for fresh blades, the other for used ones :) until you can get rid of them safely
Arko is a great soap, i usually use the top cap to lather when I'm in a hurry
Arko is a thirsty shaving soap and it tends to dry your skin. When I use Arko I usually use more water than I normally do and also add a few drops of glycerine and jojoba oil to improve the slickness of lather and avoid any possible irritation.
Another good addition would be some Argan Oil and a bit raw Goat's Milk.
Hey Kevy! I refer to that razor as a "Flat Bottom Tech" because of the shape of the base plate. The same razor was sold with a couple of different handle designs (including a thin one), so I rarely refer to it as "fat handle Tech" 🤓
And yes, as far as I know they were made in the 1940s.

I prefer the talkie shave rather than the ASMR-ish style. I'm happy the the sun decided to show his face in Dundee. I'm sure half the population ran to the beach. Here however, we could use all the Scottish rain you could spare. It is the predictable, scorching, unrelenting, heat in San Antonio. It is even smoldering on a cloudy day. At least Riley will be cool, and comfortable with a new groom. I have never been able to keep a garden. I had to face the fact that as far as plants go, I am the angel of death. So, I leave gardening to those with green thumbs. Enjoy the weekend, friend. This session was well done. Break a leg once the Fringe begins. Arko has its fair share of critics - mostly about the scent - i honestly dont mind it, but what is not in dispute is the way it lathers up - it is so easy to Lather and i always get a great shave with it

Your Fat Handle Tech looks in great condition, I believe they were made in the pre-WWII period. My mother always said I was and angel, wasn't the Devil an angel once ?😂 Arko & Derby are dirt cheap soaps that get the job done well, I don't mind the Citronellol (lemony) scent. I found grating Arko stick or puck and mixing it with some cheap Glycerine based soap makes a top mash up. What! there's people inside my camera? as long as there's no Scrotchy showing! It's the middle of Winter here so it's now dull, wet and cold. Take care Kevy🤟😎🤟

I have been collecting razors from flea markets (jumble sales) and antique shops. I have bought a tech, a reissue, a flare tip and two nickel super speeds in the last two weeks. I paid about $10.00 each for them. I also made some orders from Suavecito and PAA for miscellaneous soaps and other stuff. My wife thinks I lost my mind, but I’m having fun. If I’m crazy, at least I look good and smell great…

I really like Arko soap. Nothing fancy but always gives good results and is dirt cheap. I hope the play goes well. We will be saying goodbye to the Lion King today that we've had for the last 8 weeks at the Hippodrome. I'm still trying my 28 razors with all different blades, soaps & brushes to find that perfect shave! I love loads of my razors but the 6S seems to be my best all round razor with any blade. So "Break a leg" Sir!

I have one of those with the triangle slots on the base plate. That places it between 1939 - 47. The straight slots are after 1947, I believe.

Your tech should be from between 45 and 50. Before that they had triangle slots and after that they usually had the year markings. Even though I am not sure that all British made Gillette had year markings. Always wanted a fat handle tech. Nice razor, even though I prefer more aggressive razors.

Great shave. The Fat Handle Tech was made from the razor’s introduction in 1938 until it got replaced by a ball end design in 1946 for the US market and later the 50s for international markets. I have the Travel Tech from 1966 and it’s very mild, but it works for me. The weather here in Chicago has sucked in the last few weeks. It’s been hot and dry, and it got worse when the smoke from the Canadian wildfires reached my city of Chicago and caused a bad smog there. We’ve been getting rain in the last few days, which is a nice relief from the dryness we’ve had. WTF were there Munchies in the bathroom for? It’s just weird and out of place. Enough talking, have a good one and I hope you break a leg in the play in Edinburgh.

Thanks. Munchies are milk chocolates filled with biscuit and caramel, kinda like a Twix. But the ones in my vid have a caramel flavoured chocolate coating....mmmmmmm....delicious!! 🍫 😀

In these Inflationary Times. HERE IS AN EASY WAY TO DO IT MY FRIENDs Use any hard Bar Soap, Tallow or Glycerin based Soaps out there? To fit in any Mugs or Cups? Like" (Mitchells' Wool Fat or Arko Sticks. Just to name a few of them?) You can mix and match your old Soaps? Cut up the soap on a paper plate, pour your soap chunks with the shavings from the Paper Plate into a Mug, cover the soap with a small amount of water, and microwave your soap. For about a minute or so? Place a paper plate under your mug in case it bubbles out of your cup? If it foams up, STOP. The water keeps it from burning itself up. (DON'T OVER WATER YOUR SOAP??) Easy, does it? Let cool don't want to Crack the Mugs or Cups you're using? (You just want it to Congeal in your Mug or Cup') it is very hot and watery'''''. let it cool in PLACE'. after it cools, put it in a Sunny Window, until the Soap hardens? When using your soaps, use Dry Brush Less Water. It thickens the soap, making it easier to use on your face. Save your Money, spend it on your wife, don't listen to the shave Mafia. I saw you shave with a 6S with plate 6, 5 and 4 with no cuts but with this Gillette you get cuts. How is that possible?

Why use 3 post shave products when you can use 10?? For your next post shave routine I'd propose some lotion followed by a balm, followed by some tea with honey, followed by a bit of goat milk, followed by some WD-40 for the perfect post shave hydration and smoothness 😎👉
He usef 4 products for post-shave. Beginning was alum. Some people may be satisfied with at most 2 products for post-shave: Either alum or styptic pencil (for cuts); and balm.
