- People with macular degeneration often have difficulty seeing well enough to drive safely. Some give up driving. Most states, including Virginia and our neighboring states, allow people with reduced vision to drive while wearing bioptic telescopic glasses. In this video I demonstrate driving with bioptics and discuss the requirements for licensing. I have helped many people with macular degeneration meet the DMV vision standards for driving with bioptic telescopic glasses.

I have amd in both eyes and catracts. Was told catracts not the main problem.
I have amd. Left eye ok but right worse.

Hello im a 16 years old boy or teen. (sorry for my english) and my dream is some day to be able to drive but i got the macular degeneration i hope ill be able to drive some day and if yes as soon as posible and if i cam get an email to message if u can help me that will be really thankful i am in germany right now... thank you and i hope you did understand me
Thank you for your question. I hope you will be able to drive also. My advice to you is to locate a low vision doctor in Germany and schedule an appointment. Your regular eye doctor may be able to help you find a low vision doctor. If not, then Google "Low Vision Doctor" and see if that helps you locate one. That doctor will know the requirements for driving with bioptic telescopic glasses in Germany and can help you if you qualify. I hope that is helpful. Good luck.
