This brand couldn’t afford anything less than a whiskey of the year contender to live beyond Dixon. Shame. Thank you for buying it so I won’t feel tempted.
The Like Button is smashed. Good review, thanks for posting it. This one is out of my price range, and from what you’re saying, that may be for the best.
No other ones have the very old blends and don’t come close to the nose You can smell feet away, palette and finish that goes into next week. This stuff is better than most 1500.00 after market bourbons including Stagg so I guess it’s cheap, relatively speaking.
I've drink a bunch of Whiskey over my 63 yrs. I really like a Whiskey to be in the 110 to 120 proof range. I've tried a bunch of Whiskey in the high 90s that I like also. My favorite Whiskey in the 90s proof is TX Straight Whiskey.
There’s a lot of people out there spending foolish money on an Owl bottle for status rather than the whiskey. Dixon put together some excellent batches but the whole brand is overhyped and overpriced. Your money is better spent elsewhere…Stagg Jr, GTS, Weller 107, Weller 12, some of the Mattingly offerings, Elmer, 1792 FP, IW Harper 15yr to name a few. “Anyway…”
I wish this wasn't a fresh crack. I didn't like Batch 10 all that much when I first cracked it, but it really opened up over the course of a week. Batch 9 was great from the get go. Also... I thought that Dixon Dedman was involved in blending this batch. I could be wrong. He left in May and I found somewhere that the release date for Batch 11 was March, but I have no idea what KO's blending process looks like.
I’m sure they would like people to think he was. He did an interview on Podcask You should watch. Plus their follow up. Also look on the back of your 9 and 10 you see a comment signed by Dixon about his commitment to batches he makes. Notice that is absent from your batch 11.
@@LikeTimewhiskey... I watched the interview. Thanks for the head's up. Interesting that they put a Dedman signature on the front of the bottle. Sounds like if I have an extra 300 bones lying around, I should pick up another Batch 10 or Batch 4 Rye.
The 9 is gone in my market. I have 3 bottles of it. I absolutely love it. I also love that Batch 4 rye. I think it is better than Batch 3, but is it $100 better? That sticking point has prevented my from buying another bottle of either... but there will be no more. There will also be no more KO, so that makes me sad.
@@Dafoodmaster jack bp rye, old forester bp rye, multiple sagamores, michters bp rye im sure im missing a few. Pikesville gets an honorable mention here. I like all of those better and they are all half the price or less. Ive yet to have a whiskey id pay over 150 for. This whole topic is just personal interpretation anyway
@@Dafoodmaster just realised i was only talking ryes. Elijah craig barrel proof, stagg jr, obtainium, old forester bp,jack daniels sbbp. Id put all of those in kentucky owl territory. Technically george t stagg and wlw are a third the price too.
I just bought a bottle and tried it, alas before I saw this review. It’s not good - it’s just high proof alcohol but no real flavors. Its quite boring actually. I’ll probably just throw it away.

Was very disappointed on the first pour. Let some air get to it and rest for a couple weeks.....Very good! Wild it changed that much. IMO
Dan was so on point with that chef/baker ingredients analogy!
As always great review, way out of my price range but I always love watching you all talk whiskey!!
Seems as if the fair winds blowing KENTUCKY Owl caught the sails of Old Carter ...just my 2 farthings
Batch 9 was phenomenal! Haven’t tried other batches yet because I can’t get enough 9! I Drink it over most bourbons priced much higher.
We have gone through probably 6 Batch 9s. It’s a favorite of ours as well.
I like it a lot. The friends I shared it with liked it as well. One said he’s going to buy it.

for the cost of entry I would expect more from it considering all the other findable options in that price range.

Never pulled the trigger on one, the batches seem too inconsistent to take the risk.
Has anyone ever publically admitted to liking Kentucky Owl Confiscated?
No one I know lol. It would be fine at $39

With brands like OF and WT, there's no point in wasting money on grossly overpriced hype. Companies like KO will sink if they aren't careful.

It’s his grandfather’s name and signature on the front of the bottle not Dixon. I guess they own that.
Yeah, I’d go with 9 or the rye if you want one.

Always thought their whiskey was 3 times the price it should be. Sounds like it still is. Pass from me.
i don't think it *used* to be, but it's definitely seeming that way now
@@Dafoodmaster i think theyve always been that way.
@@LeatherDaddy97 what whiskies are the same caliber as the better kentucky owl batches, but a third of the price?

Still haven’t tried any Kentucky Owl but sorry you were disappointed in this bottle :(
