Hi Garry - do you know if the regs come O2 clean for use up to 80%? Looking to use one for a stage regulator and just want to make sure its good to go when I get one!
Wonder what about service and overhaul kits? Xdeep hasn't released manual yet and I haven't seen kits on sale yet. Hope they will release everything soon. As people already start diving them, they will def need an overhaul in next 6-12 months.
@@Garry_Dallas i bet the process is not any difference from Apeks or other regs, widely used in tech diving. The main issue is the availability of manual and free purchase of overhaul kits. Courses are useless if you cant get anything later when it is time to do maintenance of your regs. And tech regs kind off lose their main advantage if you cant do them yourself in the field. I don't think you can find a service center or xdeep outlet when you dive deep in the jungle or exploring caves in frozen mountains.
That's a very interesting approach. Thanks for the presentation! Tricky question though - how about routing for AI transmitter + manual SPG in sidemount configuration? It should not be much of a concern with any of the backmount configurations, but sidemount oriented setup might become tad troublesome… Or maybe it's just me and my paranoid approach requiring redundancy for the AI transmitter
No issues at all fitting AI transmitter and analog SPG together. just require a HP hose splitter. Have to admit it works very well, even if it does go against my grain ;-)
Loving the look of that grey wing. The only concern I have with purchasing another Xdeep wing, is my Xdeep Stealth Wing I have, the low pressure inflator started to auto inflate in the water from new!! Xdeep were really good and sent me a new inflator, however this happening on a brand new piece of kit was concerning, never had that before, and have had Cressi BCD, Hollis Wing, 2 x Halcyon Wings, and none had an issue. Have you experienced any issues with the Xdeep Inflators?
Please note that inflator is unfortunately one piece of XDEEP gear that is not designed made nor manufactured under direct supervision of XDEEP. In fact since you are bringing other brand names all scuba BCD's use same manufacturer for inflator heads from Asia. Nevertheless XDEEP does its best to ensure quality of inflator heads to match reliability of all other XDEEP parts and components that are sourced and made in Europe to the highest CE quality standards.
Hi yes I must admit the wing is a bit on the smart side, dual colour in fact as it darkens when wet. I remember years ago on the classic I had an inflator issue, but I've also had issues with other manufacturers BCs as well. As @Sebo points out, many manufacturers use the same product. Maybe a defect in the Asian supplier at the time. I've been conscious of this fact on all BC inflators since then, but happy to say no defects found since and considering I'm not as careful as most divers when it comes to looking after/ testing gear. So I've regained confidence and even use a double bladder wing.
K type inflators come from one factory in China. It is and OEM product. Everyone uses it. Autoinflation was a known issue with one of the batch of inflators from that factory. As far as I know, every brand later offered a free exchange of inflator or they sent a new one.
Having had a look inside the 1st and 2nd stages, they do appear easy to service and accessible, but as with everything, you should get trained properly to service them by the manufacturer.
Great review but my opinion it’s not really streamline hose routing cause first stage reg is higher than tanks valves and that’s is not really good in cave diving but maybe likes to others
Thanks for your comments, although it’s not very clear what you mean. All first stages are a touch higher than a valve. It does not affect the way it dives and they are actually lighter than other first stages I’ve used in this configuration.
@@alerod21 you might want to take note on this video that the valve is a different shape to conventional valves. The valves used on the SM cylinder is a Nautec inline orifice with the valve spindle. Neat and sweet but lower in profile than standard modular valves. Maybe this is what you mean.
@@Garry_Dallas I use those nautec valves all in black, I mean the chamber of the first stage reg is really high from the cylinder valve maybe I’m wrong but that’s what I see from the video! Thank you
Fantastic review! Garry is turning into a real presenter, and we are once again suffering from serious Kit Envy!
Excellent product review Garry!
Thanks mate
Hi Garry - do you know if the regs come O2 clean for use up to 80%? Looking to use one for a stage regulator and just want to make sure its good to go when I get one!
Most manufacturers offer 40% Nitrox use from new on their regulators. With any of them you can have the O2 clean to be ready for 100% oxygen.

You’re absolutely right. XDeep are currently organising service courses for the XDeep outlets. Everything will be available shortly 😊

How about weight if we compare the first stages with DST?
It is a tad lighter than a DST, I am sure Garry can provide more info in this regard.
@@demis.farrugia 1st stage around 100g lighter
XDeep 1st stage around 100g lighter.

Very informative video, thank you Garry! Any idea what would be the retail price for a sidemount set?
I would keep an eye out for these, I've not seen a price yet.
Hey Garry, just a quick question, does the turret still rotate when pressurised?
Yes of course fully.
is maintenance as easy as an apeks system and will manual and kits are available for everyone?

Garry, what kind of tankvalves are those on the sidemount tanks?
They're NAUTEC valves Henri. You can get them from Polaris diving :-)

@@alerod21 I’ve no idea how your equipment sits on your body to comment, but the 1 inch higher makes no difference to my diving whatsoever. Thanks.
