    I just want to mention that if you’re planning on racing your car, you’ll need to make some adjustments to the fuel line routing and regulator mounting. The nhra doesn’t want the regulator mounted on the firewall. They also don’t want the fuel lines going down the driveshaft tunnel, even though the new ones are ran in the factory location. This car is being built for the street, so I rather have the fuel lines tucked away from road debris and the regulator mounted away from the hot engine or front crumple zone of the car. Whats enforced on the track doesn’t always translate well to the street..

      Correct, was going to site the same things. My fuel line is run up inside my frame. I was wondering if there was a difference between steel and braided line in this regard but doesn't seem so.

      You can mount to the firewall if you use a bracket that attaches to the firewall and the regulator attaches to that etc… at least that’s what I have seen ….
      Nice job on the lines 👍🏻

Can't wait to get her back on the road, but am interested in the modification here for my 305. Some say don't bother doing it, as it does not make much difference for daily driving, others say, nah, do it anyway! Since costs have sky rocketed for parts, not sure I will change it out. I love your work, if you want another Tahoe type project after the Trans am, I just got a 2011 Suburban 1500 LT, love the truck, it’s smooth, nice interior, but dang.6L80 ate its self, now the oil pressure is dropping even after the oil pressure sensor and filter were replaced with AC Delco parts. I am being told to put thicker oil into it and nurse it along until I can afford to swap it out for a re man deleted Dod 5.3. You can get these burban and Tahoe’s pretty cheap and they are rittled with factory idiot issues. A lot of content that a lot of us would watch because we have these rolling recalls. Just a thought. The vent lets air out of the tank not in, that way incoming fuel gets space.

    Hey Matt, I thought the vent on the tank does the reverse of what you said in the video. The one on my 92 Camaro is stuck shut and is creating a lot of pressure in the tank. I plan on picking up a repop one from hawks, but I’m kinda interested in the vented gas cap now. Any chance you have a part number for one that works with our tanks?

    • @lsxmatt
      @lsxmatt  2 роки тому +1

      Which way does air flow through the vent if you blow on it? Are you sure the pressure isn’t the tank sucking air in when you pop the cap? The only way vapor can get out on the stock setup is through the evap line. That could be restricted as well. Heres the part number for the gas cap: 22591476

    • @BackPainGarage
      @BackPainGarage 2 роки тому

      The under car vent by the tank is for excess tank pressure to be released(opens at 6psi IIRC). If you use a gas cap from a 70's Camaro, it looks identical to our 80's sealed cap,, but is vented to allow air into the tank to keep it from creating a vacuum.

    • @lsxmatt
      @lsxmatt  2 роки тому

      I didn’t realize this valve is also a vent in case the tank builds up excessive pressure. You won’t be able to blow through it, but compressed air should be able to test if it opens to release pressure. I’m planning on re-installing it somewhere on top of the tank being I deleted both the old vent line and evap.
