That makes a strong female character whether they're in a film, game, TV series or anything else. Non feminist writers know how to write good female characters who can stand up for themselves, kick ass, are entertaining and interesting and also flawed and likeable and aren't portrayed as flawless, perfect, Mary Sue goddesses. Feminist writers on the other hand think strong woman= total bitch who mocks men at every opportunity, is portrayed as perfect and good at everything just because and thinks a character like that should be liked just because they're a woman or they cry sexism. An easy way to tell if a film has a feminist involved is if all men in the film are portrayed as stupid, insane or evil since they're convinced that the only way to make women look good is to make men look bad even though good writers have both strong men and women in their films. Feminists also hypocritically accuse men of wanting real life women and fictional female characters to act a certain way even though feminists want women to act a certain way too and if they don't act the way they want they say they've been "brainwashed by the patriarchy" and say female characters who aren't done the way they want are "too masculine."
@@Xehanort10 No. A writer who *can't* write a female character as a badass without focusing on her gender is the opposite of a feminist. Feminism strives to elevate women's rights to match men's right, not to surpass them - that's the literal definition of feminism. What you're referring to is "3rd wave feminism", which must *always* carry that prefix so it is not mistaken for real feminism.
@@Palmieres gendering your cause is sexism. Feminism in and if it's self is sexist. Egalitarianism is the belief of everyone being equal regardless of sex, Orientation, religion.
@@brandondavis7777 Maybe you should look up the definition of feminism in a dictionary. The movement started with the advocating of the advancement of female rights and representation to *match* men's, not surpass them. The defenition in a dictionary still states that. This was necessary because women did not enjoy the same rights as men, and in some contexts the situation has not changed. In some contexts we still need feminism. It's not gendering a cause anymore than "racing" the cause when it comes to civil rights.

I wanted to go to the movie and see something fantastic, not realistic.. "zombie virus" is such a cliché. This movie basically became and extreme episode of "Survivor."
Personally I enjoyed the more grounded version better, it was described as the touch of death and her having control of life and death because of the people in the time period not understanding that one can have a virus or disease and be asymptomatic, therefore they viewed it as a mythical or supernatural power.
@@jodroboxes dude, have you watched Indiana Jones? You know the thing with face melting? Psychic alien skulls? Immortal crusader knights? Any of this ring a bell?
This was a pretty good movie, rather than use supernatural elements seen on the Indiana Jones films, they had to use something different and almost real that you can find in the real world.
I usual cringe when someone says "strong female character." usually, this means a poorly written that is doing a lot that an old male action hero. This makes little sense. Rez090 Season 3 and and how do you not know what the mirakuru does.
I LOVE Tomb Raider, and I love Lara Croft, more specifically the 2013 version of her. Thank you for covering this! 🤗🏹
You know what makes a strong female game character? Not focusing solely on the fact that shes a woman, and making her a competent character.
@@Palmieres thank you!! Finally someone who gets it
Props to you 4 explaining it 👏👏
@@Palmieres gendering your cause is sexism.
Let me be the 1000th comment on this video by thanking you for making movies even more watchable.
From explored to reviews! Keep up the good work, Mr. Niyat!
I like how the guy was clearly being infected and no one decides to shoot him. Me: oh nuh-uh! ive seen enough movies to know where this is going! **shoots**
Another great video from this channel awesome.
Not sure what that one girl from MHA has to do with this but hey whatever
I see that Sydney rule34
Toga isn't best waifu
The flood from halo is much more scary than any other parasite of virus
This reminds me alot of the first Uncharted game
Trinity kept the location secret. Simple. Not a plot hole.
The lost phenomenon from the evil within would be an interesting subject for making a video.
Interesting suggestion! adding it to the list now, thanks :)
I think the location in 9:56 was from skull island. Looks the same tbh
Maze runner flare virus
Your review is so off the face of the Earth the moment you wake up in 2020🙉💥🧨💥

I like how he mostly talks about which was better not the virus
:-) rainbow six siege outbreak 😷
yep, its on the to do list :)
@@filmcomicsexplained I please, it'd be solo cool!
Awesome video as always!
Thanks Cielle :)
i'm a female and i prefer the original tomb raider games, regardless if they were made for a male audience.
I like how this was supposed to be an explanation of the virus but turned into a critic of the film
Have you thought about doing videos around metro 2033 and is creatures ?
I feel like the actress playing Lara croft did the best she could with the script she was given
Should have follow the game. They introduce Trinity too early. They change mystical power of a goddess into more believable way, scientifically making it a disease instead. I was really hoping it to be good but was disappointed in the end.
Alsi this vid have too many ads
4:47 ha! I thought u said _"Devil's_ Triangle", at 1st.. guess that term's just _indelible in my hippocampus_ now
🙃
My favorite female badass in video games is Jill Valentine
Jill didn't need a skimpy outfit to make us love her. She just shot everything that stood in her way lol
Me too, along with Claire Redfield.
Nice video man. Love em
Thanks Koty!
I liked this difference from the game. Makes Queen Himiko seem like a hero to her people than a tyrant, magic undead witch.
Lara Croft was the first time I heard of Queen Himiko. Second time was a Kamen Rider Ghost, tho she's just a soul and a power for the rider through possession
Good video
“The script was lacking, straining too far from the source material”
yeah like this video, you only ranted about the differences between the movie and the game and only briefly brought up the virus
I wanted to go to the movie and see something fantastic, not realistic.. "zombie virus" is such a cliché.
This movie basically became and extreme episode of "Survivor."
Yes! I love this channel!
Personally I enjoyed the more grounded version better, it was described as the touch of death and her having control of life and death because of the people in the time period not understanding that one can have a virus or disease and be asymptomatic, therefore they viewed it as a mythical or supernatural power.
I like the film aswell. It's more Indiana Jones-ish instead of crazy supernatural.
@@jodroboxes dude, have you watched Indiana Jones? You know the thing with face melting? Psychic alien skulls? Immortal crusader knights? Any of this ring a bell?
That first guy was super chill about his hand rotting.
I loved the 2013 tomb raider
Went from a vid about a virus goes straight a summary if the game and movie
Honestly. THe movie was just an action flick with a character named Lara Croft. It wasnt Tomb Raider
Niyat, love watching your vids!
Tomb Raider is awesome and Lara Croft is so badass by the way is; Majora’s Mask on the list or the other stuff I suggested on the list?
Hey been a fan of your videos for a while and have always wanted to see you guys do more stargate stuff like the replicators, ancients, asgard, etc.

Awesome video loved it 👍
This was a pretty good movie, rather than use supernatural elements seen on the Indiana Jones films, they had to use something different and almost real that you can find in the real world.
Just found your channel. Love your content.
you talked roughly 2 minutes about the virus...and thats it. meh
I usual cringe when someone says "strong female character." usually, this means a poorly written that is doing a lot that an old male action hero. This makes little sense.
However, Lara Croft in the reboot is well written and is very much what that title should describe. She is strong in her own way, and very capable
