Watch dogs 2 is such a hidden gem of the open world. The way they implemented online play where you could hack another player, take a player out, or just plain old co-op. Only gripe was you where unable to do missions coop.
@@SerPodrick Plain old co-op, would be just like GTA IV, you join a session with friend and you can play with your friends but unable to do anything you other then that.
@@SerPodrickHe meant you can't do co-op in the main story missions or side missions. There are a bunch of little stand alone co-op missions though. And I totally agree with him that WD2 is awesome. All they had to do for Watch Dogs 3 was make a better version of 2 set in London, but instead they made shitty ass WD Legion.
Always happy to see Thief get a mention, and the bank absolutely is one of the best stealth missions ever! Also super happy to see Desperados make the list too. Stealth Tactical games do not get enough love, and it's sad that we lost Mimimi games, possibly the best company ever for this genre.
I remember playing Thief on a PC that could finally run it. Man i was 16 and let me tell you the overwhelming feeling of joy i got was one that i will probably never get from a video game again, i mean i played it slow and savored every moment. It was all epic to me, i will never forget Thief and Thief 2 such nostalgia. 🤩
disqualified from this list: any game where you fire an unsuppressed firearm in the same room as enemy NPCs and they say "what was that--probably nothing"
Why? By saying that you make splinter cell conviction sound invalid which was one of my favorite stealth games. If I throw a frag at five enemies who can't see me and they all die it is still stealth dude!
I'll never forget the absolute terror and trepidation that was the original Thief. Playing it in the dark as a kid would actually leave me so stressed but also hyped to delve further and further into every mission. Good times😂

I love it whenever Thief gets a mention! I'd like to see a Wolfenstein level in Part 4. While they aren't pure stealth games, the mechanics and UI really lend themselves well to sneaky gameplay.
Thief 2 - Casing the Joint - A mission where you must look through a castle without killing or so much as even subduing anyone, and of course you can't be seen (Hardest difficulty is the ONLY way to play the thief games. You're a Thief, not a murderer.) While Casing the joint you can also steal a bunch of stuff.
The "castle" from the first game really exists! It's called Mont-Saint-Michel and can be found in France. It's actually a church. Pretty interesting story behind it.
Thief 2 Metal Age had the City Watch mission on Expert, where Garrett cannot be detected by any enemy, nor may he knock-out any enemy when he places false evidence against Sheriff Truitt. Now, THAT is a stealth mission. I beat it by hacking in 9999 bottles of invisibility potion. LOL
i like how you can speak about intricacies of stealth mechanics and how great the level design is and still show the least stealthy gameplay in most of the games with bunch of alarms and detections and shootings))
Falcon, I think part of what makes Cliffhanger so great is it slows you down, but in a way it doesn’t feel artificial, and then it speeds up to max COD-iness with the chase, that again, doesn’t feel artificial. It is the least normal COD mission style, but somehow feels the most COD
Liking this at 9 just because of Cliffhanger! May be my favorite single mission in any video game ever. My taste in games have grown far from COD nowadays, but the feeling that mission gave me has stuck with me forever.
That series had another snowy mission... or was it just the lead-in to the one Falcon showed in this one? I remember creeping through the snowy woods and eventually reaching a base..
Has the Murder of Crows from Hitman: Blood Money been mentioned in this series?? Because that’s one of the best, most chaotic levels in the Hitman series and you are literally fighting for time, all the while assassinating multiple enemies and protecting someone. And oh yeah, it’s set during Mardi Gras in New Orleans, so an awesome setting and the PS2 being pushed to it’s limits.
Ha..it's funny because for the last month I've been trying to remember what Splinter Cell Mission that was! :) Memories would randomly pop in my head and then I would spend a couple of hours trying to remember it lol. So THANK YOU very much for that Gameranx
Remembering the cod mission brings me happiness of a time when I actually tried hard on stealth missions I miss and love those old games in this Era btw ty for covering stuff like this ♥️
Love the sniper elite games.. I always try and full stealth each mission. I remember playing spy academy for the first time.. took me 3.5 hours to beat lol
The speech’s that Sam has available in the Displace level are unforgettable. On the roof where he says that he is “Harry Tuttle” and the one where he describes the true reason for the fall of the Roman Empire make that level one of my favorites.
honestly, i''ve been watching them for years, these video are good to sleep to. i need a black screen. also having light sensitivity, it's a jumpscare everytimeeee
Don’t forget about the Splinter Cell Double Agent (OG Xbox Version) final mission in the snow on New York City’s snow covered rooftops and buildings. I’m not saying it’s better than displace or dishonored. But the atmosphere and what happens to Sams love interest and how it changes him is just memorable and emotion filled.
Agent 47’s flamingo costume was the most hilarious thing I’d ever seen in a Hitman game, and I’ve played as a clown! Stealthy & dressed like a giant pink bird has to be one of the best missions I did! 😂😂😂
While it's not exactly a stealth mission, I thought of the Medal of Honor: Allied Assault level where you're undercover trying to sabotage the U-529 submarine. So good and memorable after all this time.
I'll do you one better. A full remake (not reboot) of the original Splinter Cell game. It's in development and even includes some members of the old team.
Now that all the great stealth missions are out of the way can we talk about all the game ruining stealth missions in otherwise not stealth games. Like the soldier camp in Witcher 2.
I am over the moon to see that you have included a mission from Assassin's Creed Rogue. Its one of my favorite AC games and Shay is my favorite character from the whole franchise. I love him so much that if he was real, I'd marry him ❤😅.
So glad you included watch dogs 2. The humor in that game mostly misses but some of the missions and action pieces are so well done. Didn’t deserve most of the hate it got imo
For the Dishonored spot, I didn't even know that you COULD side with either of those factions in the stage. I always figured out the combination from resources in the mission for like a dozen playthroughs.
Not sure this qualifies for best stealth mission but Traditions of a Trade in Hitman: Contracts is one of the darkest atmospheres to ever grace the stealth genre
I will say, if anyone is interested in learning more about siren (as this is probably only the second time I, personally, have seen it mentioned), tangomushi has a great longform video on the series where she goes in depth about its plot and lore!
The icing on the cake in the MW2 Cliffhanger mission is the fact that, at the start of the game, you are side by side with your character from the previous game. "My commander is Soap?! Awesome! " Incredible story choice imo.
Please do the most annoying stealth missions! There is literally a mission in AC: Black flag that made me stop playing the game. So sad, cause at the time it was my fav. The mission is one where you have to stealth around while following someone, it’s in some sort of swamp-ish area.
Assassin's Creed black flag mission where you're supposed to infiltrate the assassin's island without killing anyone better be on this list. That mission drove me nuts as a teenager

I miss the Tenchu Nina games. Great stealth
Styx, both games are stealth masterpieces.
Dude some of my favorites stealth games are Hitman trilogy, MGSV, Alien: Isolation, Dishonored 2, and Prey!
Prey is half stealth since you have limited room and no stealth takedown option while alien isolation is more of an outlast but with combat
Not sure how I missed your other lists! I'll just have to treat them like the prequels.
