    There are 55 players mac's height or shorter in the NBA and most of them don't have his athletacism. G league rookie of the year. Led his team to g league champs in his second year with huge numbers and efficiency. Had 20 pts, 9 rebs, 9 assists in his ONLY NBA game with more than 11 minutes played. Missed zero dunks with the whole world watching to win NBA dunk contest. Played solid for GSW summer league team. Has record vertical leap and speed. He's literally never done anything but show out with any opportunity he's ever been given... Sounds like a steal for any NBA team that wants to get a great player and use little cap space. But what do I know. I will trust the experts and UA-cam opinions.

      Man do you seriously know how hard it is to make it in the NBA, being able to dunk has nothing to do with being in the league, does he play any defense? So he scored a few points in mop up duty and you guys think he's an All-Star, get real, it's so much harder than some highlights. Only 12 can make the team and he's not 7' or lightening quick, guys way more talented than he is and that actually got drafted are not in the league, I get rooting for the Underdog or great white hope but at some point you have to be real about it, if he was that good, he'd be in the league, none of us on this thing are talent scouts or GMs. If he was such a steal, he'd be on an NBA roster....He's not there because he's not good enough. Period.

      @@cjeffries7823 do you know how hard it is to win g league rookie of the year and average 33 and 8 in the g league finals to win the chip in your second season?....
      You might be suffering from racial bias tbh. Yes he is lightning quick. He runs faster than everyone out there. He ran 2.94 3/4 court sprint at the combine. Fastest ever, beating out Nate Robinsons 2008 time of 2.96. that's why, in the one game he actually got minuets in and had a great game, you can see that he outruns everyone on the fast break. But that's if you actually watch him play and not just assume because of his race that he doesn't have elite quickness. He also is in the top 5% in vertical leap, won rookie of the year in the g league and is arguably top five players in the g league right now after averaging 33 pts and 8 assists in the g league finals to win the chip in only his second year. And he has tons of heart coming up big in the fourth quarter in both finals games. Just like how he didn't miss one dunk in the biggest moment of his life. You see him win the dunk competition so your mind goes straight to "great white hype". I agree that great white hype exists, and will undoubtedly be applied to him. But he can play. At the very least, you can't say " he can't play". If you do, it's definitely bias speaking. all you can say is he hasn't "proven it", or "I will believe it when I see it". Are you saying the same thing about the other 95% of the people in the g league that haven't performed as well as him? If not, you might need to check your motives....he undeniably has the credentials to get on a squad and show what he can do. There are tons of g leaguers that eventually get on after patiently waiting. Mac is one of the best. He has a real chance no cap. I won't be surprised if he doesn't make it either tho. It could go either way but I definitely think he can. I'm just being real with you.

    Its sad that height is an issue in the NBA, when there are so many taller bums on rosters. Seems like some of these teams are just happy to have a team and fan, but not interested in being better. There should be at least 15 team looking to sign this kid.

      What's puzzling is why the NBA is showcasing a player they’re clearly blackballing during the biggest weekend of the year. A lot more people now know who he is a two-time defending dunk contest champion. More will get curious and check out his G-League numbers and start wondering why he’s not on an NBA roster. If you want to truly memory-hole someone, this is not how you do it, so I’m not sure what the reasons are. His game is best suited for this league. He can easily average 12-15ppg, 5-6 apg, either start for most teams or lead a second unit. No disrespect to guys like TJ McConnell, Colin Gillespie, or Ryan Arcidiacono, white PGs who are similar in size to McClung, but nowhere near as athletic. Mac is simply a better player than all of them, if they can find a spot on an NBA roster, so should Mac. He should look elsewhere instead of rotting in the G-League waiting for a chance that won’t come. You can make good money in the Euroleague, I’m just not sure if his game is best suited there. But if he gets some guaranteed money as others have mentioned before, he should take it before it’s too late. Lots of competition over there as well and now would be a good time with his name recognition at an all-time high.

Just look at Austin Reaves and Tyler Herro. They're a little taller than McClung at 6-5, but they're also better shooters and can do basically everything else better as well. Even in college, McClung barely shot 40% from the field and hovered around 30% from 3. That's just not good enough when scoring is your biggest strength.

There's been plenty of short black guys that were scorers that played in the league. If he was 6-5 or 6-6 there would be plenty of teams that would take him as a scorer. Kemba Walker is 6 ft and mainly a scorer only averages about 5 assists for his career. Mac average 12.5 points, 4.5 assists, and 5 rebounds on 20 mins a game. Isaiah Thomas couldn't do much more than score but found plenty of suitors. 4.7 assists, and 2.8 rebounds. The list goes on and on for short black players. Not so much for short white guys unless you're John Stockton the all time assist leader or a 3 point specialist like Steve Kerr, or a PG like Scott Skiles who holds the all time assist record in a game 30.

    • @mizzouluke

      @@AchillesWrath1 Kemba Walker is light years ahead of Mac when it comes to ballhandling and creating shots for himself and others, not to mention he's a more efficient scorer, or at least he was until recently, and that's why Kemba got waived by the Mavs. Similar story for Isaiah Thomas. At the peak of his career he was considerably more efficient and better at creating for others than Mac, then when he wasn't, suddenly nobody wanted Isaiah Thomas anymore. So really, with those two examples you're proving the point that as a small kid, regardless of skin color, you have to be able and score or create at an elite level or you will not have a job.
      That being said, Mac's G League numbers this past season showed an elite efficiency he had never previously displayed at the pro or college level. Hopefully he'll earn an opportunity and if he can get close to matching those numbers in the NBA, he'll find a permanent roster spot.

    CP3 14.8, Kyle Lowery 8, etc. Most of the PGs in the NBA were between 10-20ppg.

    The NBA is length happy. This guy has none. He’s 6-2 with a 6-2 wingspan. Rondo is 6-2 with a 6-8 wingspan. Which makes him a liability against taller and longer players that he has to guard. Once he loses his vertical, he’ll have no length to fall back on. i.e. Blake Griffin

    • @JackNCoke2008
      @JackNCoke2008 Рік тому

      Scoot Henderson, a potential top 3 pick in the upcoming draft is 6-2 with a 6-9 wingspan. Again I am emphasizing length over listed height. Look at Jimmy Butler recent struggles in the closing games of Eastern Conference Finals. He’s continually getting his shots blocked by his peers cuz of his alligator arms. And he can’t stop anyone on the other end because they intentionally out extend him on layups because though he’s roughly the same height, he’s giving up 4-6 inches in length. That’s a lot of difference in basketball terms.

    NBA teams are biased towards white short American players.That is the truth . If McClung was European or Afroamerican he would be given more opportunities (And I say that as a European). They expect short American white players coming from the bench to set plays and hit open threes. They do not like them to be aggresive and creative.I always hear that McClung should be more of a pointguard because he is short. Is Donovan Mitchell just a pointguard? Are Ja Morant or De"Aaron Fox just pointguards? Was prime Derrick Rose just a pointguard? e.t.c. Small sample but for his two games in Philly his per 36 is 22ppg, 8.8rpg and 7.9apg with a .140 WS/48 in a total of 41 minutes. If he was a fake player his numbers wouldn't look that good because 41 minutes is enough time to get exposed by facing other NBA talent. He can play in the league based on that, on his athleticism and what he's been doing in the G league, the only question is how good he'll be. Bench sitter, role playing spark plug off the bench, starter or near all star. HIs main obstacle will be finding a team that needs him because playing behind somebody making 44 million per year like James Harden won't get him much time unless Harden gets injured and most other teams are already invested at the point guard position. The one thing he needs to do is have a consistent jumper and hit at least in the mid 30's from three point range and he can be a good player in the league. The game isn't too fast for him but will he be a good shooter? He'll get a better opportunity but it'll take longer because he's white and everybody knows white people play lousy defense even when the advanced stats tell you otherwise.

    I see a lot of comments saying that he isn’t on an NBA roster is because he’s white ?! That is he was a 6’2 black kid with hops he’d be in the NBA.
    That is simply asinine. There have been TONS of athletic black guards who didn’t make the NBA or stay for very long.
    I can name many. Talent alone doesn’t get you in the NBA. Especially when you are NBA short~ …. The guys who excel and are shorter players are almost always traditional point guards, with proven track records. Guys who are leaders on winning teams. McClung is more of a highlight reel player (not uncommon in this era, look at Kevin Porter Jr, Jalen Green) but they aren’t team oriented and their individual talents don’t equate to team success.
    He is talented enough of an offensive player to make the league, but at 6’2 and not very good at running a team, or an elite defender, he will be a rotational player AT BEST.
    It’s not hate, it’s not racist, guys like JJ Barea played YEARS in the league as an undersized non black player. Steve Nash won MVP’s as an undersized non Black player. John Stockton is the all time assist leader …. as an undersized non black player.
    Steve Kerr was non athletic and was a short non black player who played years in the NBA.
    This is a highlight driven culture, and McClung is a highlight reel waiting to happen…. But can he help a team win ? While being an assets and not a liability ~?
    Good luck to him, but this goes to show the younger generation that when it’s all said and done highlights don’t win games … again see Jalen Green and Kevin Porter Jr.
    As for McClung he is a dime a dozen when it comes to combo guards… slightly undersized good offensive skills average on defense.
    One last note McClung is power of a power jumper off of two feet, he lacks side to side quickness and agility, something that HELPS undersized guards ~ and without being a natural point guard he will be a defensive liability ~

    Mac is an athletically gifted 6'2 shooting guard. The world of Basketball is full of these "tweener" types of guys. Can he play in the NBA? yeah of course he can but can he "fit in the NBA" in a way that makes him a value to a team is the real question. How valuable is Mac without the ball? It's only one ball and 10 players so the other 9 better figure out how to make themselves valuable and if they cant they will be on the outs.
    PJ Tucker makes himself valuable without the ball, as does Bruce Brown, Josh Okogie, Donte DiVincenzo, Alex Caruso and I can name tons of these guys. If Mac wants to stick in the league quit trying to be Kobe and be a Jose Alvarado. The NBA needs "players that star in their role" rather than guys who think they are "star players"

    • @jeremiahjohnson1513
      @jeremiahjohnson1513 Рік тому

      But there have been plenty of smaller guards drafted for their "potential", which usually means they are elite athletically so can be developed at the point even if they play more like shooting guards. Scoot Henderson is more a shooting guard style player than point but was just drafted by the Blazers at #3 and he's also 6' 2" about 195 lbs., about the same size as Mac. Why doesn't a team try to develop Mac as a point guard? Is he resistant to coaching? I haven't heard that he is but who knows what really goes on. I do think he could play the point, he averaged about 6 assist in the G league and had less than 2 turnovers a game. He couldn't do that if he didn't have the skills to play the point. Also, Mac is a very good rebounding guard and is good at containing the dribble on defense. Of course he gets shot over and posted but all 6' 2" guys in the NBA do, they just have to compensate in other ways and the elite athletes are better able to do that. I can tell you that Mac would play better defense than Allen Iverson ever did. He can be valuable without the ball if given a chance.

Those guys should of played in nba. Mac is even better with more capability. I think the league is really afraid of how good this kid is. If the player doesn’t fit there criteria or belief system they black ball you. I’ve been done with nba awhile. I’ve got better things to be doing like reading a book.

      The league isn't "afraid of how good this kid is". If they think he's good enough, they'll sign him because it means more revenue. The issue is his size makes him a liability on defense, despite his athleticism. He'll have to really prove himself like Isaiah Thomas did if he wants to get a spot. And he needs to show that he can fit in a role that a team needs.

    Real reason and people are cowards and liars for not just saying it: The NBA is built on the concept of white men can't jump, McClung is actually BETTER than the other players at the quintessential dunk technique that defines their sport... having him there just totally discredits the entire league's unspoken reason for existing, gives the NBA a black eye. The average NBA player only scores 8.7 points per game, pretty sure he's above that by far, but I don't know his stats... sure he needs more gametime to get comfortable, just like any player needs game time, 1st team scrimmage time, and the full support of the entire coaching staff and his teammates. Do you think that Michael Jordan would had success on a dysfunctional and racist team? This is just a racial issue in a league that advertises racial issues in almost every game. Just be honest. This kid could have been a great all around player if people were color-blind. This is also the best thing to happen to the NBA and anti-racism in modern times to prove that color actually is just skin deep.

      @@LBNoah316 You're not getting the concept... McClung disproves the "white man can't jump" racist lie that the entire modern NBA culture is founded on, so McClung being showcased destroys the entire reason for the NBA as it is in 2023 even existing... the other guy can't jump (according to other comments on here, I've never heard of him) so he doesn't threaten the racist lies being put out by the modern and very racist NBA every day. Modern NBA is basically legalized black supremacy racist movement, but McClung disproves their biggest racist lie that "white men can't jump" (white men can clearly jump as McClung showed and other jumpers around the world have shown) so they have sidelined and buried him far away from the mainstream NBA fans. If white men can jump as good as other races then the the whole house of cards that the modern racist NBA is built on is completely destroyed. Get it?
      Just imagine if they highlighted McClung and he got better and better like most players do who are given starting time and the full support of their team and teammates and the media... imagine if he became obviously the best player in the NBA along with the best dunker... imagine the credibility and human rights hit the NBA would take since they only have 16.8% Caucasians in the league and even less of that 17% are American Caucasians, about 9%, and even less out of that 9% are starters in the NBA... If McClung proved that white men can be as athletic as any other race it would hurt the credibility of the NBA... most modern pro sports are built on the lie that blacks are more athletic, which is not true, it's just a continuation of white colonialism, to be honest, where the agents and coaches and team owners are all white and the players who do all the work are mostly all black. You can't hide a guy who can dunk, like McClung can dunk, so he has to be kept out. His stats in the actual NBA are already above average.
