man I seeing this after 12 years later
@niaalll put dollar signs in front of what you don't want to change A1 -> $A$1 - it's called absolute cell references
I want to think you for this video, I had to do an explanation of what this function did in a college class, and if not for this.. I am not sure I would have understood it.
Can't wait to show this to the family when I get home this evening
thanks
hello
Thanks for your detailed and very good explanation :-)
How can you drag it to other boxes without changing the numbers
if i have this code "=Hlookup(J2;B1:H2;2;True)" in box J1, then try to copy the code to K1 it then becomes (K2;C1:J2;2:True) so its using a different array. any clues how to sort it out?
Thanks I
Thank you, you really helped me because
I have an exam tommorow and that function is included.
5 stars
Thanks.....it's very good tutorial for easy way to learn Hlookup
This is the right way to do hlookup problems. People apply hlookup formula to the orientation of data that is applicable to vlookup. Correct data orientation is this one
@ExcelisHell now what if I want the ROW # to change when I drag it to other boxes... so using the example, if I have several years' worth of data that extend past Jan/Feb/March? If you drag it, the row # stays the same. But if I have a lot of data it's way too difficult to change it manually for each box.
You are right about that Excelishell.com...hahaha
Well explained , Best way to learn from you!!! Kudos :-) i suggest if you keep the text running at the bottom of the video..coz few people cant understand the accent!! Just a suggestion , dont mind...
You explain this very well. Thank you!
4:57 Here lies a problem that I need a solution to, I want to use my excel sheet in a reverse method, but I want to search in Row 4, and for the formula to relay to me what is in Row 1.
Here you say it will only search in the First Row, so is there another function or work around for this?
use index and match
Lets say I have 3 sheets: Sheet 1 (numbers), Sheet 2 (characters), Sheet 3 (total).
I am trying to take data from sheet1 and pass it to sheet 3 on cell A1 through E1
Next I want to pass the data from sheet 2, on to sheet 3, rows A2 through E2
I am trying to set the function in the cells in sheet 3, so that when the user types their data, it is automatically posted. Any suggestions?
That was an excellent lesson! Thank you so much!
