    X10 have great sound, I use them just for listening music, they work well with most types of the music, but they could get a little too bight and you will hear things you really might not want to hear in your favorite songs. Also, those are not the most comfortable headphones, it takes some time to get used to them. Build and material quality is definitely top notch.

    I tried both the x7 and x10 at guitar center for a good period of time.
    Out of all the 20 or so headphones they had hooked up there these two
    were easily the best. Sound wise I would say they were both amazing for
    me. The bass was really good but my favorite part about them were the
    mids and highs. Im not a dj so I was simply looking for the best
    sounding headphones. Also the X7s were the best build quality
    headphones there at 200 bucks. None of the other brands were even
    close. The X10s were even better. Sound wise I would say their main
    differences were in the mids. Also the X10s had a more detailed sound
    in general. Overall they both sounded very neutral with just a slight
    boost in the bass but in a nice satisfying way. I also loved the high
    end of both in that it was some what layed back but very detailed
    especially on the X10s. Something like the m50x had way too much top
    end and recessed mids. I hated those. What an over hyped headphone.
    Even the m40x while having flatter bass and mids was still too bright up
    top. Honestly the M20x had the flattest sound, they just sounded like
    they didnt get very loud.
    Comfort wise I didnt like the X7s.
    They squeezed too hard on my head. Maybe a few days of stretching them
    would fix that. The X10s squeezed a good amount less and had slightly
    bigger diameter ear pads so overall they were far more comfortable for
    me. The ear cups looked to be the exact same size so Im guessing the
    X10s ear pads would fit on the X7, and combined with some stretching
    might make them just as comfortable as the X10s.

      That's funny you say all that, because I had been told to get AT M50xs as well, and I did, at Guitar Center,
      but hadn't previewed them: I returned them the next day last weekend, because they sounded so harsh
      in the high end, mainly. The build quality was ok. I didn't like them at all and I'd been expecting to love them.
      I auditioned the X7s and fell in love with them, and they are seemingly build like tanks. So far the X7s are
      shining and they're comfortable for me, my head isn't that big. I'm going to get rid of all my older
      headphones, and now my go-tos are my Hifiman HE400Is, especially when I want the most detailed, warm sound,
      and these for portable use, and rock and dance music, mainly, and all-around listening. I'm not DJing with them.
      Cables seem fine to me. I'm using the coiled one at present, via my new Creative G6 sound card/amp. Since
      I'm not beating the shit out of them every night at a club, I expect they should last a good few years. Another
      great thing abou the X7s is, you can drive them very easily with almost any device. But through a good headphone
      amp (I use a Fiio A5 for portable usage), oh my goodness they really have some power behind them. Bass is just delightful, tight and not overpowering,
      and the mids and highs are both pleasant and not over-boosted. The high end, if anything, is warmer and more detailed
      than I would ever have expected from DJ headphones of any decent brand. Closed-back soundstage, but overall the clarity is great.
      I also considered the VModa Crossfade 2s, but these still sounded more refined to me. The main thing is the X7s sound
      fun, but also detailed to a certain degree, not utterly sublime and open wide soundstage like my Hifimans, but they aren't tinny, thank God,
      and screechy or metallic-sounding at all. A good balanced DJ headphone is what they are with a slight bass boost, but nothing BEATS-like.
      And they are built better than the cheap Sony DJ cans these days.

      Is HDJ X7 Worth the money?

    • @thiscorrosion900
      @thiscorrosion900 5 років тому +1

      @@tuccao1171 I think if you're looking for DJ pro headphones, you won't find much better at this price. They're comfortable
      for me, but others might find the clamping force a tiny tad tight, not sure. I didn't. They're absolutely quality and built very solidly. Most headphones even by Sennheiser these days, are all plastic, these are decidedly not, built with metal and seemingly built to take a lot of punishment, and they also sound
      quality, no distortion and they sound good across the board. Which is quite rare. Of course they don't really sound flat, they're not for critical monitoring but DJing.
      If you want audiophile though,
      and don't care about DJing, I'd recommend any of the following: Hifiman (any), AKG (upper tier models only), Beyerdynamics, Fostex (upper tier only), Audeze, etc. And any better Senneheisers,
      they are definitely good but you have to know what style and sound you want from the Sennheisers. I've also heard Denon make some great DJ headphones, as well.

    • @sergeysmelnik
      @sergeysmelnik 5 років тому +1

      Yes if you're looking at built quality you're easily getting your money's worth especially vs some of the competition which feel really plasticky and cheep. Sound wise i really loved them besides the boosted bass. They're mids and highs were as good as any other studio monitor headphone within the price range. Comfort wise they weren't for me but I wasn't looking for a DJ headphone to begin with. The ear pads weren't the type I wanted. I wanted my ears to fit inside. And the clamping force was far too strong. I actually seriously debated the x10s since their ear pads are slightly bigger and they have less clamping force but I ended up with the ALG 553 mkii mainly due to the large ear cups that fit my ears and even lighter clamping force than the X10s.

    • @thiscorrosion900
      @thiscorrosion900 5 років тому

      @@sergeysmelnik I'm not sure why Pioneer designs these phones a bit more snug than many, I think they are aiming for less aggravation whilst actually DJing with them, they need to stay where you want them vs. total comfort that you might aim for with home listening headphones, like the big AKG studios, etc. I think it also depends on your head size, etc.
      I found they were a bit less snug with one rung down on the adjustment sliders, so they are eminently adjustable. They might lessen force with stretching and use, not sure.

    My HDJ-X5 broke at the connection to the ear cups on both sides at the same place. This happened after ±1½ year of use. By the way, I did not use them very often and certainly not professionally. Pioneer says on its website about the HDJ-X5: "All the HDJ-X headphones feature a refined look and durable construction." Well, the construction of this HDJ-X5 is not at all durable. Positive: the sound quality and the wearing comfort are good.

    i have the x7, and they have some good quality's decent sound isolation, i much prefer over ear vs. on ear, i think a punchy fairly flat sound, great for dj'ing, but wish the headphones were slightly bigger around the ears, i have a avg. size head im 5'7" they are slightly firm (ive only used them @ 28 hours so far) but will probably get more comfortable as they get broken in

I don't really want to pay 3X the price to get the 10's, what would be your advice? Would the 5's be a good buy for my use case or should I really go for the 10's?

      I got the X7s, I would say either would be fine for work private listening purposes. I love the X7s, as I've commented above. At nearly $200 the X7s aren't as cheap but they
      are really, really good headphones, and closed-back and they don't leak sound very much. You want to try to avoid open-back cans at work, if you can help it, unless you
      have your own office and nobody cares. Plus yes, you can crank any of these and have minimal leakage, I think. You can even get pretty good levels from an iPhone, etc.
      But with a decent headphone amp, even a smaller Fiio etc., you'll really hear some power!

      I listened to both at the local music store, and x7 sound significantly better to my ears.
      The frequency response is more balanced in the mids, so they sound "fuller", yet they still have punchy bass, which is why I like them.

    • @jayson_djx_valdez
      @jayson_djx_valdez 4 роки тому +1

      Actually, youre right, the X7 sounds a little bit OK to me too than the X10 (i have both of them and the X5, too) but i like using the X10 because of the mini xlr connector.

    • @han1218
      @han1218 4 роки тому +1

      @@jayson_djx_valdez Wow, you have all 3 of them? :)
      I also tested some Audio-Technica M30x and M40x, some BeyerDynamics, Sennheiser, AKG, and out of all of them, some were more flat (which are great for mixing), and some were more bassy. Most of bassy ones had some dip somewhere in the mids.
      To me, the x7 sounded like a "flat" headset with a bass boost, which give the kick and bass line more punch. They do have a dip in the super highs (on the frequency graph), but it wasn't noticeable.
      One of the problems I have when I monitor EDM-like music with my existing "flat" headset is that the bass is not punchy enough, so I boost it too much to the point it "feels good". When I switch to real speakers, it sounds overpowering.
      I didn't buy the x7 yet, but I hope they will fix the problem for me.
      Also, the build quality is top of the line.
      What do you think about wearing them for many hours? Are they comfortable? They seemed a little squeezed on my head.

    • @jayson_djx_valdez
      @jayson_djx_valdez 4 роки тому +1

      Yup, that's one of thing though, they are a little bit tight on the head but not too tight, but they're easy to use if you're style is one ear and squeezing with your shoulder, should be no problem and if you're playing EDM, I think, you'll be fine with the X7, don't get the X5, they're good for home use only the X10 is OK, too(i think) I have'nt use them enough though, i've been using the HDJ 1000 still😅

    Just bought them few days ago and I im on the return process right now as this headphones are worst I ever use in my life.
    Sound is just flat or even worse they sound like hard bass without soft one so like EQ = bass - 0 mids are +6 and the treble -8 and even equalizer does not help at all
    Sound stage does not exists on them
    They are most uncomfortable I ever had and they are not over the ear as they are to small = on ear plus pushing your ears into head strongly
    This are stereo headphones which sounds like mono ones on iphone mixer pc or high quality dac/amp
    You pay the price for box case an cables as they not worth 300 pounds price range - for me max 100 as there is good build quality but even for this price will not buy them
    Don't know where this 5 stars reviews come from but people never hear headphones like Beyerdynamic before i reckon even my old technics rp-dh1200 sound then times better than this

    I've bought HDJ-X7 after watching a couple of reviews and regret about this decision. It's the most uncomfortable headphones I've ever had. They sound good, but perfect dj headphones are not only about the sound. These headphones physically compress your head so much that you can get the impression that the skull will explode. I can't imagine how I will play a several hour dj set having them. Besides they don't rotate enough to be actively used by djs. It annoys you every time you put them on. I'm not impressed, Dear Pioneer.

    • @ReviloTube

      Hmm I'm sad reading this because after doing a ton of research I was finally about to commit to buying the X7s. Right now I'm still trying to decide between the X7 and the 2000MK2 but Pioneer claims that the X7's are an updated version of the 2000s. Everywhere I read that both are very durable and comfortable, but that the X7 is even more durable and potentially comfortable, so that's why I am so surprised to read your review on them squeezing your head! I wouldn't want to experience that either, but I'm also surprised you are the first person to mention that, although to be honest I can't seem to find a lot of info about the X7, only the 2000MK2s.

      I'm finding them pretty comfortable thus far, I think it depends on one's head, etc. They are a tad tight, but I haven't noticed any discomfort as such, so far. A lot of metal
      on the lower end of these, braces and connectors and swivels, etc.

      Oh really? They look so similar to the x10 in terms of design and shape. I’ve been using the x10 for 3 years and have played many 5 hour sets and they’re very confortable to me

    You're not supposed to use headphones of any sort to master music ever. Volume differences between instruments can be greatly skewed when the speaker is up to your ear, especially for a closed back DJ headphone that is design to be bass heavy. That is terrible advice that a professional mixing and mastering engineer would disagree with.

      I'd probably use AKGs, Sonys, Beyers, better ATs, or Shure's for that type of application, not DJ headphones.

      There are many reference professional headphones made for this purpose. Like the Beyerdynamic DT1990 or AKG K872 for example. Ideally you would use monitors, but there are headphones made for mixing and mastering.
