This method is too messy, better buy the jack, it will hide the connections and it's cheaper than buying new headphones. Also get a soldering iron and solder, they are really cheap and can be used in the future, that way the wires won't get disconnected easily. Buy some heatshrink (it's cheap) so in case a connection is visible you can make it look better, electrical tape is messy, it'll get all gooey after a time and the connection is not really good.

I hate enamel coated wires. Such a pain in the ass. I went years not knowing how to solder enamel coated wires and threw out a few good pairs of headphones because they were enamel wired. I used to try just burning it off but that ever worked well then I finally grabbed some 500grit sand paper and got it to work a few years ago. I am still looking for a better solution though.
It works but I have an red, blue, green and the brown or copper? On my headphones the side with the microphone is broken, and there is no short-I tried turning the jack, wiggling the cord, etc. but sound never came back-but the mic/control still works. The headphones are fairly new and I don't want to get a new pair so soon. Is there anything else besides a short it could be, and is there a way I can fix it? I am also quite careful with my headphones: I almost always wrap them nicely and gently and unplug them, but I do use them a lot and they are in my pocket a lot. Great video anyway!

Never thought about burning it. Iv'e always sanded it down first. Also, use that electrical tape. But after that you can use SHRINK TUBE and heat it up wit ha heat gun. More secure than electrical tape
Im still trying to repair a pair of Shure SE115s. I have 6 wires: copper, red, green, white, black and grey. I'm repairing with a skull candy plug that has red, green, copper and a copper wrapped white wire. Help!
Will Springgate Okay, here is my best guess, I'm going from Shure SE115's to the Skull Candies: Copper to Copper = Grounds Copper to Copper wire wrapped around white wire = Grounds I'm thinking the black and grey wires are also grounds, I'd try twisting them together with the other copper wires. Red to Red = Right ear phone Green to Green = Left ear phone White to White = Microphone, volume switch (accessories) If that doesn't work, try switching out the White wire on the Shure SE 115's with either the Black or the Grey (and place the white wire with the ground wires). For example, place the black wire on the Shure SE 115 with the white on the Skull Candies. Then place the Shure 115's white wire with the grey and copper wires (grounds). Iff that doesn't work, do the same thing with the grey wire. It might take some trial and error but you'll get it!

Taped them individually too. No sound at all from the ear loop...the replacement ear loop had no problems initially...please help. I'm getting frustrated...
Hi there! Question: I have a headset for my pc with two male headphone jacks but my pc only has one female jack. Can I use this technique to convert them to one male jack headset? It would be really nice to have an answer,I don't want to buy new ones+ the ones with one male jack are a pain in the arse to find...pls answer!
Because people like me tend to have a lot of cheap £1 earphone lying around. So I can make use of its Plug WITHOUT having to do any soldering so I can use my nicer pair of earphones.
I was wondering. Say you bought a cheap pair of earphones to use as a jack, and you have high quality earphones, will that change the quality of the sound because the bottom jack is of lower quality?
Watches this video 5 million times, does it step by step, fucks up. Gets mad, says fuck it, twists all the wires together, works fine. (Kinda, still likes to mess up in sound quality a lot, but works good.) Btw, I'm not saying the steps in this video don't work, i think i just messed up a lot while trying to do the steps. On top of that, or was using two way different sets of headphones.(tried connecting ear bud jack to headphones that have a Mic but they're only meant for a computer because it originally had a USB jack .) If that makes sense. O.o
I have a white wire which connect the microphone in the plug between the cooper wire i i cannot find the TRRS in my country can i cut the white wire and connect the the other wires without it

How do I identify which is which if all companies are different? I have red, green, blue, copper and a copper/red. The plug I'm trying to connect to has red, green, blue and copper.
Hi, I have a working headphone and a broken pair

nyc maan love from india
Hey rich so I have a random cord with a jack on it that looks like a old headphone charger possibly idk. I’m trying to connect it to my headset but im not sire if it has a mic wire, all i see is red and blue/ Green and blue wire connected and a white wire wrapped in copper wire.
I know, they are a pain in the butt. It took me a while to understand what it is.
It works but I have an red, blue, green and the brown or copper? When I connected all the wires except for the brown/copper and green, I accidentally opposite them and it suddenly increases sound into left and what I heard the most in the left headphone is the vocal and the right is the instrumental, is that ok?, it both increases the left and the right headphone.
Great video it worked for me... thank you... I had a broken headphone which has no problem with cable so i used that to repair my other headphone.. however thanks for this video 👍❣️

hey if you could help me, my headfone have a red, blue, white and some orange or gold color, and i have other with red, orange, green and white wire.. what should i do? sorry for the english
I have Samsung original earphone n it's goodly working but suddenly it's microphone is not working ... sound is still good n I hear good ... what to do
So the red and green wire with copper in the middle. You say just connect it. So do I un twist the red and green off and then expose the copper underneath and re twist the red and green that was already wrapped back around it and then connect it or do I just get to the center copper and and go from there
I did this and it worked but I think I mixed up the white wire with all of the grounds because I can hear it but there’s a lot of distortion so much so that the bass frowns out the rest of the song or video and there’s a great amount of clipping going on
my dumb cat ripped my headphones today, so i watched your vid, I tried fixing it and now they still don't work

Can someone help me i am trying to repair the Shure se215 earphone and i have 2 copper 1 blue 1 red 1 black and 1 grey please i would really appreciate it
On my headphones the side with the microphone is broken, and there is no short-I tried turning the jack, wiggling the cord, etc. but sound never came back-but the mic/control still works.
There's a shortage he means if it works and u move it it doesn't work you have a shortage that's worse then what he's talking about but same thing almost
Volume and pause remote still doesn't work so I'm still not very happy
So I'm attempting to do this myself and I have two different turtle beach headphones one has a red, green, copper, white, red and green but the other one I cut open has a slightly different copper, red, green, red and gold(?) They are both TRRS so they should work I'm just a little lost where to go next
Never thought about burning it.
Iv'e always sanded it down first.
Also, use that electrical tape. But after that you can use SHRINK TUBE and heat it up wit ha heat gun. More secure than electrical tape
Thanks for the info!
The double cables pulled out from the where they were connected to the single jack cable. What can I do about that?
Im still trying to repair a pair of Shure SE115s. I have 6 wires: copper, red, green, white, black and grey. I'm repairing with a skull candy plug that has red, green, copper and a copper wrapped white wire. Help!
Will Springgate Okay, here is my best guess, I'm going from Shure SE115's to the Skull Candies:
Copper to Copper = Grounds
Copper to Copper wire wrapped around white wire = Grounds
I'm thinking the black and grey wires are also grounds, I'd try twisting them together with the other copper wires.
Red to Red = Right ear phone
Green to Green = Left ear phone
White to White = Microphone, volume switch (accessories)
If that doesn't work, try switching out the White wire on the Shure SE 115's with either the Black or the Grey (and place the white wire with the ground wires). For example, place the black wire on the Shure SE 115 with the white on the Skull Candies. Then place the Shure 115's white wire with the grey and copper wires (grounds). Iff that doesn't work, do the same thing with the grey wire.
It might take some trial and error but you'll get it!
i have no idea what happened with my headphone. The left side stopped working.
Hey +RichMethods, I have a problem, my earphones came with my phone, it was perfectly working. But now, it's right side has a sound much lower than the left one! Please help me! Thanks again
Same thing here
Will it explode if the i connected the wires wrong? I connected it already but I'm afraid it might blow up
Rich, I wanted to say thank you for posting this video. I was able to save my Klipsch Image One II headphones! THANKS!
So much for the ipod earphones?!! I bet the captain earphones sound way better than those!!
Any way i like your videos... & I have to repair my s4i IIs.. got everything ready.. planning to do it 2moro :)
Just repaired mine. Works great. Soldering was such a pain in the ass.
Not good, you are fixing it with a very very cheap part that is going end up breaking...failure
I have a pair of Samsung headphones which had a problem with the ear loop so I decided to replace it with another ear loop. I followed the exact instructions. Since the ear loop I was trying to replace with had no speaker capabilities so I cut off the green "mic" wire. Then I exposed and cut off the insulation; burnt off the enamel with a lighter, wiped it off with my hand and then taped the two reds after winding them against each other...same dome for copper. Taped them individually too. No sound at all from the ear loop...the replacement ear loop had no problems initially...please help. I'm getting frustrated...
*done
Thank you so much it's really work👏👏🥰🥰
red is for mic and blue & green are for left and right side and golden one is for the ground
my headphones aren't broken its just every now and then it switches from left to right its happening right now it's soo annoying
Hi there! Question: I have a headset for my pc with two male headphone jacks but my pc only has one female jack. Can I use this technique to convert them to one male jack headset? It would be really nice to have an answer,I don't want to buy new ones+ the ones with one male jack are a pain in the arse to find...pls answer!
If you are going to have to buy a new set anyway, I would give this a try. The wire will probably be kind of bulky once you are finished though.
i have samsung headphone , It consist 3 wire so can u please upload the video of fixing Samsung's one
am i the only one who notices ''Drug Guide' in the background? 😂😂😂 😂😂😂
Why wouldn't you just use the new headphones?!?!
Because people like me tend to have a lot of cheap £1 earphone lying around. So I can make use of its Plug WITHOUT having to do any soldering so I can use my nicer pair of earphones.
Aithro, why wouldn't you just listen to his video? He EXPLAINED IT in the video. Twice. Pay attention.
Apple headphone sound better
Gabe Ulrickson can get a 5 dollar pair that sound better than that apple junk
@@bantes62 sure gimme one
I was wondering. Say you bought a cheap pair of earphones to use as a jack, and you have high quality earphones, will that change the quality of the sound because the bottom jack is of lower quality?
It wont be noticeable unless your an audiophile who had a gold played then a cheap jack but the average person cant
Twat
Fuck off,
Cody Long Cody Long It can be frustrating to rewire these, but I'm glad you got them to work!
i can repair my earphones as shown in video but steel they can't working...??????
I have a white wire which connect the microphone in the plug between
the cooper wire i i cannot find the TRRS in my country
can i cut the white wire and connect the the other wires without it
can you help me with a wiring scheme? replacing broken TRRS plug on Bose earbuds with working plug from skullcandy ear plugs...
I also need to repair a pair of Shure SE115s
Could I just use a regular plug and forget about the microphone? I really don't care for it
my hands free button is not working but the earphones are working
Hey i have skullcandy earbuds and the mic is messed up i was wondering if you can make a video showing how to fix it..... It is skullcandy ink'd 2.0
I'm thinking you should start with replacing the plug. Is there damage to the microphone itself?
To much talking sorry
Would this work for dj headphones??????
How to join 4 vs 4 red ,coper, green , and one more colors wire ,,samsung earphone + other earphone jack
i have a thing that i can connect my tablet to my speakers and i was woundering how can i strip it to my head phones so it can light up
