Dont feel too bad, this man later became a successful judge in Maine so everything worked itself out
A VERY successful judge in Maine, I'll have you know.
That's funny af
And there was justice.
This is Maine justice!
...eating voodoo lobsters. 😁
Man, Jason Sudeikis and Will Forte had some fantastic chemistry on SNL
Sudeikis is the worst actor as possible but we dont fkin care cause its a fun show so....
@@itsasoulthing he´s not a bad actor at all imo.
@@itsasoulthing First, you clearly can't english bro. Second, Sudeikis is a great actor, so is Forte. The show scripts mostly suck. 99% of the time it's the actors who make it entertaining. Don't be a hate.
Then they were siblings on Last Man on Earth
@@schempgirl1 And Sudeikis was an astronaut!
there's something beautiful about will forte screaming "YOU WILL NEVER STROLL THE MOON IN A PUFFY SUIT!"
"You will NEVER drink Tang!"
@@fhb3 TAKE EIT BAYCK!
You will not PEE in the absence of GRAVI-TAY!
was looking for these comments 😂
"THAT IS BETWEEN YOU AND YOUR GOD!" That is like an all-time classic Forte line.
"That is between you and your god!"
God this is such a good line!
No one does anger like Will Forte.
He is amazing as Ted Turner in Conan
Quiet your silence!!
Sure ain't my Forte
No one lol
“Gilllllyyyy?” ;)
I love how like 95% of Will Forte's work is just fevered, glassy-eyed lunacy.
“YOU WILL NEVER PEE IN THE ABSENCE OF GRAVITY!”
😂😅woooo that was good
this sketch kind of had a monty python feel to it, especially once Forte jumped up on the table and started screaming at the top of his lungs
The John Cleese Stache helps too
I was thinking the same thing
You mean The Gumby characters... ua-cam.com/video/I_AOfzrQYV0/v-deo.html
It sure does 😂
I'm not alone in this!
Every line in this is a gem. Even the fact that--for some reason--the space tests are kept in the fridge.
The reason is pretty obvious.
Where else would they be kept?
"your potato chips will be safe in my presence" it's an absurdist Tennessee Williams play and it's genius
It's brilliant homage. The impassioned cries and shaky whispers of 'potayto chip' are as emotionally grounded as any of the dialogue in 'The Glass Menagerie'.
You nailed it. I kept thinking this reminded me of something but couldn't remember until you pointed it out. 👍✌
Thank you for citing the reference. I was completely lost!
you meant truman capote, thats okay, glad to help
@@rickdeckard1075 I said what I said ☺️
"I did not come here to have my reputation assassinated!" Lmao
The way she says "Don't take people's potato chips" 😂
Some of the finest actin' I ever did see!
You dont. You just don't.
I'm an astronaut, and I can confirm that this is a far more accurate depiction of NASA than Apollo 13.
How the fuck did this get through the dress rehearsal hahaha. Fucking amazing. Will Forte is superb
how you mean?
Bill hader said on norm macdonalds show that Will forte liked to do sketches that were absolutely terrible and he knew they'd bomb...lorne allowed them just because he wanted to see what would happen (see fart face sketch) XD

Experimental antu-humor.
A truly classic sketch. Will Forte and Jason Sudeikis' commitment to their characters is inspiring.
commitment to not being funny
@@rickdeckard1075 Oh look! The kitten's got claws.
@@Genious. Oh look! Theyre still not funny!
@@rickdeckard1075 Not funny... to you. I'm curious though, did you click on this for the purposes of saying it's not funny?
And I've no doubt there's plenty that you think is funny that other people would find unfunny.
@@Genious. you lead with a personally diminutive comment, and now want a serious discussion?
I miss sketches like this. SNL has really been lacking absurdism.
I feel like Kyle Mooney tries to do the absurd stuff but his shorts always get "cut for time".
I couldn't agree more!
Yeah, this is one of the best. Right up there with the shirtless Bible salesman sketch from around 2000 (Will Ferrel and Tim Meadows). Will Forte really shone in the absurdist theater that SNL used to do sporadically.
They should let Kyle and Beck write all the sketches for one episode.
@IAmaPersion current cast isn’t great as a whole but there’s plenty of talent there. Kyle, Beck, Pete, Kate, Cecily, and Kenan are all great. I think Chris and Melissa have a lot of potential. Kate and Kenan are all time greats... not sure anyone else in this cast will reach that level. But to each their own.
Sudekis and Forte being allowed to just let their crazy loose makes for a REALLY good sketch lol
Will Forte is a really great comedian. he is underrated
I know what you mean, but I wouldn't call a comedian multiple award nominations and wins "underrated"
Yea
Awesome quads, too.
And a fine dramatic actor as well.
Last man on Earth is an unbelievable show!
"YOU WILL NEVER STROLL THE MOON IN A PUFFER SUIT"
"DON'T SAY IT"
"YOU WILL NEVER DRINK TANG!"
"TAKE IT BACK"
Hahaha I love the little answer backs by Sudeikis while Forte just screams at him hahahah
"YOU WILL NEVER PEE IN THE ABSENCE OF GRAVITY!"
*PUFFY
YOU, SIR, ARE A LLLYAH!
Im so late to the party. How have I not seem this sketch until now??????
How in the name of all that is crispy did they manage this scene without the slightest of cracking ups? 😂😂😂
very simple.. It wasn't funny
bec it isnt funny?
Only Will Forte and Jason Sudekis could pull this scene off
@@KevinMcAssaler "oMg fORtE anD SuDEiKis ArE sooOOo UnDerRaTEd" yeah like 20000 ppl already said that.
@@rickdeckard1075 u gey
The fact that Jason Sudeikis plays an astronaut on Will Forte's Last Man on Earth warms my heart.
Blake was underutilized in this sketch
@@JNMKloverWeird response.
Wait what?
The fact that he could tell immediately a chip was missing was a brilliant touch to add to the absurdity of it
The way Jason keeps looking at will to see if he really wants to commit to spitting in his hand is priceless
This is one of those skits that grows on you with each viewing. I smile every time Forte says "Pro-grum' and "Rubric". Jason's finger walk to grab a chip slays me. Honestly though, I think that I re-watch the most for Blake Lively's blood curdling scream and the tempo of her delivery of the line : "You don't take peoples' po-ta-to chips!". This would be a great skit for an acting class.
Also how Forte counts the chips like he's flipping through a Rolodex.
Also, the fact that the space test "rubric" is apparently stored in a refrigerator.
@@pronkb000 Clearly...it would immediately expire at ambient temperature...Or, he just prefers to keep it next to his potato salad....

“ I’m not going no where until I’m a astronaut” is for some reason a hilarious line to me.
Sudeikis as a Southerner is always good
This sketch is GOLDEN. This is absolutely gorgeous absurdist humor. It is brilliantly over-the-top and unapologetic the entire time.
This actually felt like acting. Like watching a play. What its supposed to be.
omg! that Jason Sudeikis looks like colonel sanders. makes me craving KFC right now
Looks like Colonel Lingus, to me.
Omg sameeee
Same here
i only crave one thing when i see jason suDeikis
makes me craving of Jason Sudeikis HAHAHAHHAAHA
why is nobody talkin ab blake lively in this sketch
she’s great 😂😂
She's great!
She is. And she came close to breaking a couple of times - that made it so much funnier for me.
My sleep paralysis demon is the way she shrieks like a wounded cat upon beholding the potato chip thief.
because they hungry @zeeadaj because they hungry
Because no one knew it was her. I have never seen her in anything, tbh. This is the first time I saw her act. She’s not a prevalent actress. But yes, she did a good job.
A pretty poor sketch on paper, elevated to greatness by the performances of Forte and Sudeikis. This worked only thanks to them and their great effort.
Proves that delivery is sometimes even more important than writing and that a great talent can overcome bad material.
u r dumb. the writer obviously planed the exajuration in this skit. thats the idea, and thats what drove the actors to play that way
ey693+ autocorrect failed you
That's obviously not true. Great writing can be left down by poor performance but great performances can't cover bad writing. It's hardly a poorly written sketch on paper, just maybe not the kind of traditional format of comedy you're accustomed to.
Forte wrote the sketch so it's weird to hear that his talent overcame his lack of talent...
That’s SNL in a nutshell: above average talent occasionally makes up for abysmally poor writing. MadTV was better in both respects, but it’s writing in particular was stellar.
I watched this sketch enough times when it first aired that I know this is the dress rehearsal version. The actual version that aired live didn't get as many laughs, so that's probably why they opted for this. Both versions are excellent.
Where can I find the aired version?
@@blofeld39 would also like to know
Same! Glad I'm not the only one who noticed. Thought I was going crazy for a second because the delivery on some of the lines were different. The live version is far better in my opinion.
I think the reason why the dress rehearsal version is on UA-cam is because the live episode had a bit with Abby Elliott as Brittany Murphy shortly before her death, causing it to get removed from reruns, so they used this version to fill up time.
I like the aired version better. From Forte's "OPEN YOUR MOUTH! AAAAAADMIT IT!!!" to Sudeikis's "Oh gawd, whuthavidone?!" to the way he approaches and makes awkward eye contact with Forte to the sheer volume of digested potato chip that pours from his mouth. It is clearly the better version imo.
Here after that new interview where Bill Hader mentioned that the whole cast came to watch and support Will and Jason do this sketch because they knew it was brilliant
Which interview? Would love to watch it!
This is EASILY one of my all-time favourite sketches on SNL. That was so absurd and strange in all the best ways. 😂
Agreed! Every single thing about. Like it never stops being strange for a single second. This one, The Firehouse Incident with Bill Hader and The Career Day sketch with Adam Driver are hands down my tops..... I guess I just love seeing the go full-tilt crazy. Haha
Have you seen "Fart Face"?
@@joeypadgett7895 YES!!! Oh my gosh! It's brilliant... Like it's almost hard to watch because it feels so awkward... But it just KEEPS going. Hahaso I love it! ....
some of my fav SNL sketches are those that just feel.. too far...like this shouldn't be funny coz it's... intense? Haha
Great recommendation Friend!!
It is very plausible that this is the greatest acting performance since Ben Hur.
This 7 minutes is an onslaught of comedy
When Will jumped on the desk and squatted...😂😂😂
I don’t know how they didn’t break character in this.
"Space test sir?"
"It is a rubric by which nasa measures ones space potential.
Ill go get it out of the fridge"
This sketch > Oppenheimer
That "You don't take people's potato chips" will always be my favorite 😅😅
Imagine though if he'd managed to return a perfectly intact chip.
That would have been better and less shock value gross out. I actually expected that.
That's how you pass the test.
He would instantly become the head of NASA and we'd be in Mars by now.
Especially if he returned it from out the other end.
Imagine if he would've eaten the returned potato chip
This skit is true grit. All three of them grinding it out for 7 minutes. Utter commitment.
This is one of the most wonderfully bizarre sketches I ever seen, what a masterpiece. There's no reason for them to look and talk the way they do,it just helps to ground it in the kooky absurd. The space test is in the fridge?🤣 Forte walking like he shit himself and noticing one chip is missing immediately. Sudeikis "BUT I DIDEN'T!" while breaking into tears...😂😂 Im sure there is something funnier than this but i have no idea what that would be nor would i admit it was funnier. Cause I'm superhungry...
What bothers me, and I think some others in the comment section have noticed, this is not the version of the sketch that aired. This is the rehearsal version. The version that aired was funnier, albeit subtely more so. I don't know why SNL chose this version over the version that aired.
😂
Just realizing Jason's character is the pre-cursor to the one he played in 'Maine Justice' 😂
This is a prime example of successful absurdism in comedy. Great performances by all three players. And the audience response tells all.
The audience response really doesn't. Like 95% of them laughing is just "cue laughter" which is sad. I know comedy is subjective but this sketch is brilliant compared to most of the drivel SNL produces
@@GlassGhost428The audience did just fine. Have a Snickers.
Yep. This is brilliant. BTW, the audience did more than just laugh
Also, I don't think they prompt the snl audience to laugh like that. I've seen plenty of jokes not get a reaction or get a variety of reactions. That stuff is more for shitty sitcoms.
You...don't...steal...peoples potato chips!
Arguably the most underrated sketch in SNL's history. Congratulations to Sudekis and Forte for pulling this off. Especially at 4:33 (with the audience going "UH-OH"). At least it came from THAT end.
2:40 You DON'T take people's POTATO CHIP.
Jason and Will have an incomparable energy & wit, but that aside... Props to lil cutie Blake for reeeally committing to the intensity of the sketch and her counterparts.
3:10 "Don't say it...take it back!" The best part of it!
I'm calling it, this is going to be a classic.
You sir nailed your prediction! Well done you.
it’s too good
Confirming in 2022
The acting is sooooo good that the sketch is on the very edge of the line in between comedy and tragedy!
This is one of those skits that has nothing to do with current events and will be remembered for its plain over the top weirdness
the best part is how jason looks will in the eyes a few times before spitting on his hand
this should be viral, but maybe it's best to keep pearls like this hidden as they are valuable as fuq
"in my undry dreams" 😂
Just noticed that the judge stands up with a butt donut at the end of Main Justice. Perfect tie-in.
Sudekis/Forte sketches were always A+.
One of the greatest SNL clips I've seen. Captured me completely and had me in tears 😂😂😂
I'm gonna get the test out of the fridge getting zero response shows exactly how bewildering this must have been to watch
I’d bet all my potato chips that Will Forte wrote this sketch 😂
I was thinking the exact same thing...SO bizarre yet fucking incredible 😂
This is the funniest sketch to exist in mankind’s history.
Will Forte, Jason Sudeikis, Bill Hader, Amy Poehler, Tina Fey, Fred Armisen, Keenan Thompson, Seth Meyers, Kristen Wiig and later Taran Killam were all on SNL together what a blessed age.
🙏🏼 My favorite age of SNL, and I’ve watched religiously from 1992-2023. Then I read an interesting article about, “When you were ___this age___, that will always be YOUR favorite period of SNL.” I forget the age, but I remember it being a vividly accurate assumption, personally.
Not familiar with Blake lively at all but she really pulled this skit together. She was a perfect compliment to will and Jason
yes! why aren't their names mentioned in the description?
She was literally the worst part of the sketch 👍
This is sooo much funnier than the audience reaction it got.
I love how basically the only qualification to become a NASA astronaut is to not eat a potato chip.
This was spectacular. A stunning example of a skit. Possibly one of the best to have been made
“This did not go the way I envisioned in my undry dream”
This is my favorite skit hands down. Two of the best guys working in absolute commitment through absolute nonsense together. Every single element of this skit is tuned to be as ridiculous as possible
Blake Lively delivering every single line like pure gold!
I'm surprised that Blake hasn't hosted since. She was so good throughout.
@@Mia7189 Being married to Ryan Reynolds is probably a full time job.
I am surprised at how many people didn't comment on her. She's great!

I was just about to go get my bag of potato chips, feeling the urge after seeing that nice clean crisp pile in his bowl - and then - yeh - lost it.

I can't blame you
the way Will Forte 's charachter changed his voice before and After the ROBBERY... from Low and tiny to Lawd and deep !!!!

Tyler Durden it's Monty Python
That's just what I was thinking about!
Tyler Durden well the spitting out kind of derailed an otherwise pythonesque trajectory of the sketch.. And the shrillness too
Forte had so many crazy sketches like this where he's just yelling, lol.
i would love to see one episode of true detective with those two instead of combo Matthew & Woody haha
How they managed to do get through this whole sketch without breaking I will never know, I would've been on the floor several times during this
Jason cracks a little bit when Will contemplates the contents of his hand, the camera cuts wide and you can see him wobble.
