I was one of those FFXIV players who was skeptical about Asmon hopping over to FFXIV. My first thought when he arrived was "Alright. How long will it take before he just goes back to WoW?" But, to my unexpectedly pleasant surprise, he stuck around and is actually enjoying his time here. It was a little disheartening to see some in the community try to sabotage his first couple days here, but I was genuinely surprised to see him sticking to the game and smiling along the way. Now that he's out of the 2.0 story and into Heavensward, there is only good in the future with him, I can already tell. Asmon, I have no idea if you're even going to see this post or not, but I just want to say this: Thank you for proving me wrong. I know WoW is... not in the best place right now, but I hope you stick around for the long-haul and find more joy out of the game.

Too bad so many people are jumping to FFXIV that the servers are literally at capacity, and free players are not able to get in. It's the worst best success.
This display made me tear up a bit... I dont recall ever seeing Asmon so happy before. God I love this game and its community and god how dumb was I to be among the WoW players who hated on FF for so many years...
i just started playing ff 2 weaks ago and this is one of the best communities i've seen, i'm enjoying the game so much because of it and also cause of the game is really good
I was in an extreme raid, and we literally wiped the entire time until time ran out. Not one person complained, they congrats everyone for getting to 3%, and said we knew we would get it next try. Great Job all. So f***ing refreshing to experience failure.
I always went into ex parties after watching a video, never having run it once lol. I was often the main tank. I remember sephirot extreme the party kicked someone that was performing badly after 2 runs because it said there was a bonus for completion.. they thought it was him lmao. After we replaced that guy and 1 or 2 others and they just gave up with the first clear bonus and decided to try it anyway we cleared it first atttempt. When the achievement popped for me everyone was like WTF THE MAIN TANK HAD IT!? hahaha. Now i cant do this because you get locked out when duty complete is selected. i think that happened at around zurvan I think they stopped that with duty complete at around zurvan so i then had to suffer with people that kept failing and bashing my head in for a clear so i can get it done consistently
It was what happened to me the first time I tried the Binding Coil of Bahamut V. We didn't make it and almost ran out of time, but it was an enjoyable experience. The second wasn't...
I had a couple of Lvl 90s carry me through grinding the Third Coil of Bahamut today for the Dreadwyrm armor. They were just a couple of randoms I found in the Party Finder, and they were so nice and patient, and kept carrying me until I got the pieces I needed. They didn't ask for anything in return, they didn't get angry any time I died, or anything. This is honestly the best online community I've ever experienced.
This is the greatest "No, shut up" the community could have ever said to the naysayers and toxic players that wanted to actively sabotage Asmon's experience with the game. The ones that cried toxicity. The ones that declared "nobody" wanted him there. The ones that tried to rally mass reports against him just because he is who he is. THIS is the true feeling of the community. Welcome to Final Fantasy XIV, Asmongold. It's great to have you. Lol comments be wildin. Whatever it takes to strip away positivity I guess.
to that i follow is way of thinking when my subsciption of ff ended i played wow for the first time. it a shame that you can only go to lv 20 for free but what can i say at least i tried the game he loved (and yes there are some bot in the beginer area of the game)
Hate to say it but I was one of those people who were dreading the bald mans coming to this game.. But I am glad that I have been proven wrong. The community has really come together and watching his journey has been so lovely. Living for his reactions and the wholesome moments. FFXIV really deserves all of this attention, and influx of new players. It is a fantastic game! Thank you Asmon
@@iLLya_ i think it's more the fact he plays a game he actually want to play and enjoy and not feels forced to keep playing a game he loved but has been betrayed by so much
@@lyricsms5448 Yeah, I can agree with that. He is playing a game that not only does he want to play but a game that actively rewards him with good content, good story, good music, and a fellowship of good players/friends as he progresses in it. WoW had that in its launch and first 2 expansions but quickly lost that charm as the company forgot its base values. Let us of the FFXIV community prove all the naysayers wrong and continue to just be ourselves in this wonderful game.
Im not going to lie. That is one awesome welcome party for Asmond. Really awesome to see the community do this and root for him on his journey through the game. I recently switched to FFXIV awhile back and love it, especially in the end-game. Awesome stuff /applaud
The logo changing after the cinematics is such a cool touch. It's the simple things, and Square Enix understands that. Man, these videos are making me so happy and I don't even play FFXIV. Seeing Asmon having fun is great, and this welcome party was a really nice contrast of what happened the first day.

THIS is how you "stream snipe". Don't do it to mess with the streamer, make it something special for him and the viewers. Such a nice and warm welcome, I hope you'll love Heavensward as much as I loved it.
@NIGHT DEMON39 man I felt the same way about the beginning of Heavensward. My server was completely dead at the time and my friends stopped playing. I felt so alone and sad, lol!
I was trying to find a good spot in that line. The whole thing was nuts. You gotta love the FF14 Community. Dark Knight rocks. I love the DRK and GunBlade.
Honestly man, this will likely get buried but I'm glad to see you're having fun gaming again. I played WoW since TBC and left along with you. It truly is a totally different experience and I'm glad that I switched. You seem to be enjoying it, giving it a fair shot and you're finally making happy streams again. Keep up the good work man. You've done this game a huge service by bringing it to many people that without you, wouldn't have given it a chance. Welcome home.
This is hands down the coolest thing ever done in a video game. Man gets a military parade to the entrance of Ishgard. Well done, FFXIV community. Well done.
I think it's great a lot of streamers are getting similar co ordinated welcomes. It's rad because you don't enter new expansions very often and it keeps congestion down most of the time.
This is a custom that started with Jessie Cox community, So whenever we got a streamer we do the president parade. Why? Because the for a streamer to dedicate time to get to Heavensward is already a accomplishment, it means that the game captivated him/her. Asmon one is a little bit of a mess because of the ammount of players, Rich one is really cool. Rich is also helping to organize those which is kinda fun.
while I won't argue that this is pretty impressive, I still think the best thing the community has ever done was the vigil march that lasted around an hour for a player who died to covid, 100s of people across their data center showed up.
As a new player sprout 🌱 I have to say I’ve never experienced such a warm welcome to a MMO ever , I spent years playing wow an yeah sure we all had those moments back in the mid 2000’s an years of adventures but… Final fantasy is honestly a whole other level

Btw Asmongold the reason why people wanted you to read the journal entry for the DRK quest is because they're very specially written unlike ALL the other quests, it's very worth to read them (And it will take you no time)
For those that don’t know, the journals for Dark Knight are special. Without spoilers, some of the information is only visible when you’re actually in the Dark Knight job.

@Kahzel ...you do realize he did multiple quests right and left saying he will be doing more off-stream with the knowledge to not read the quest log because why bother due to bad advice from so called "mentor chat"?
his attitude towards ff14 is different if you watch/listen to him when he plays new world even in his alt stream. he knows new world has issues BUT sad thing is he is gonna main it. why? 1. it gives off the mmo feel and not the rpg feel that ff14 gives off more of. 2. there is a good chance with new world owned by amazon there is a chance amazon will tell twitch staff to do alot of promos, partnerships, deals to streamers that prioritize new world and lost ark. so asmon gonna invest into new world for possible chance of that deal if it goes through. if ppl say "thats stupid idea. what company would do that?" ..... lets open the history books to a fallen realm called MIXER and owned by MICROSOFT with the day they had the promo when HALO 5 released and the ppl like NINJA, SHROUD and others when they promoted it on there vs streamers on twitch. so yeah expect amazon gonna do the same for new world and lost ark for big known ppl on twitch. but yeah his attitude is bit better in ff14 vs back in wow and even with new world. this part below ignore or read. up to you. also kinda 3. asmon mention while back that wow is like an abusive wife. no matter what shit happens you go back to her because of the years you spent with her even if she berates you, throw shit at you and or squeeze you of money. well in this case the wife had plastic surgery and looks like new world now. he needs to invest ALOT OF TIME into her to make her happy but deep down he is happier meeting a girl thats nicer to him being ff14 and help out in stressful days but he spent and invested so much into the mean wife he cant just walk away for good. wife is that well known woman and she is like "you bald bitch who got you to where you are??? me! you better lick my coach boots that you bought for me you bald fuck and do as i say or else i will strip you here and kick you to the streets to sleep with those raccoons." vs the regular girl he meets at the pharmacy to pick up pain meds for his wife butox procedure. the girl at counter is kinda wierd, into animes and super cute things but she is super nice and talks with asmon. she ask asmon if he interested to come to this anime gathering, out of boredom or dont wanna get deal with mean wife he goes, hangs out, meet others and likes the girl. now asmon is spot is just divorce the bitch and be with the nicer girl? but deep down he invest so much of his life with the mean bitch rules (rules being old mmo mechanics) and what she says he is kinda scared to accept a new view in life. lol. if this was a reality show imagine when asmon went to go hang out with the nice girl/ff14 and the mean bitch/wow heard of this its when she goes on her instagram/facebook and saying asmongold is an ungrateful husband (this be when the community manager and such for wow on twitter talk shit to asmon.) which sums up the abusive relationship.
The discussion about community hits hard. It's common sense but common sense ain't so common nowadays. I've played my fair share of other mmo's that have died or are on life support and once the community feeling goes that game has a hard road back. That 5 minute discussion starting at 15:00 and what I saw today was better than anything any advertisement or cinematic could do to promote FFXIV.
A lot of this community is family. Not memeing, this is legit how we are. Love, tolerance, kindness, compassion... These are core to our base. Look at how much happier and healthier he's looked after he started. There's not anywhere near the same levels of stress. That's what happens to people who come to FFXIV. They often come feeling jaded from other experiences from games or life. They don't expect the wave of love, acceptance, and positivity.
Theres alot of comments saying its streamer privilege and stuff like that. I mean its partly true. No shit normal people won't get these reception. I'm new too but the experience was great. I did my realm reborn almost the same time as asmon did. I was otw to do do the quicksand and was at the Inn. Suddenly a level 80 carpenter waved at me and asked if I was new. Then gave me a lvl50 dragoon weapon with glowing effect and tell me to enjoy the game. I mean I know to a lvl80 its not too big of a deal but as I know it still takes effort to actually craft weapon and stuff. Veterans going out of their way to welcome and encourage new player is great. Its not just some random gil or egg charity, but actually took the effort to give me a cool glamour transmog, thats very pleasing.

@@janyeen93 Streamer privilege cuts both ways. It's pretty obvious there are people looking to get their moment in the sun and generally harmless and there's the malicious types as per evidenced by stream snipers getting banned. Average joe isn't going to get that reception but average joe can walk around limsa, Gridania and there will be people sitting around chatting, having concerts and creating player driven content by interacting with each other. That's community. Do I think FFXIV has the best gameplay from my limited experience? Absolutely not. Does it need to? no. But I'm sticking around because the gameplay is good enough but my experience with community player interactions has been so good that I can easily forget about that. Remember what I said in my op? Common sense ain't so common nowadays? Anyone saying streamer privilege is who that applies to.
thats sick man, the parades and everythings, the only things that left out is a bunch of cat girls lol, makes me want to buy a ffxiv and give it a try.....after i get a new pc
@Jay Bee Just because this is the "essence" of the community doesn't mean it's exempt of issues. It's the essence because most people is against ruining someone else's fun, not because no one will do it. Heck, even Asmongold himself said it several times that the chat would go nuts for the slightest clue of a potential spoiler, saying that even seeing the cover art for Shadowbringers would be considered spoilers for them. You can fixate on the bad parts to justify that XIV doesn't have the perfect community, or you can measure how much good there is and admit it's a really nice community that tries its best to make others feel welcome.
Streamer playing FF14: Get a massive welcome party when entering a new expansion. Streamer playing WoW: PVP camped for hours. Oh, and a bunch of people on the forums wishing you were banned.
I love that they recreate parts of the trailers in-game with your character in place of the store brand WoL. It honestly makes you feel so much more connected to your character and their place in the world.
That was about as happy emotional as I’ve ever seen him. I don’t watch his streams or anything on twitch so I’m sure there’s other times that I’m unaware of, but for me, that’s as happy as I’ve seen him. Happy for him.
@@eftultima yup. Cause going from a broke nobody in real life playing a garbage game that sucks the life from you, to literally being welcomed by a ton of people into a new community built around a better game is cringe. It’s okay to let yourself be happy sometimes.
4:31 you can really tell by his high pitch voice how GENUINELY excited Asmongold is, and then on 4:40 he realizes this and goes back to his deeper normal voice, wholesome
Asmon's response (on stream) seems to be "I can switch between both and be fine," and he's not wrong. As a streamer and someone who doesn't mind a little grind, it would be very easy for him to just tap a handful of dungeons between streams and keep both tanks at the same level using the same armor.
I swear, Asmongold is a completely different person when he's having a good time. And I love how invested he got in the story despite saying that he usually doesn't play games for the story. The Heavensward parade is such a great tradition. It's so cool to watch their faces light up with joy when they realize that so many people came out to welcome them to Ishgard.
Man, this was so epic and wholesome, I unironically cried and was like wtf is wrong with me. And then he entered the town and my eyes were watering again lol
FF14 also makes you feel connected to your character as well in the MQS, that’s what makes the story line also special, seeing your main character going through tough challenges and grow stronger, becoming the warrior of light!
i do appreciate how when he first saw all the mounts he thought the horses were dumb as fuck and he would never use that....now his main mount rn is one of the horses.
Something as simple as Asmon seeing the trailer and knowing the context and feeling the feelings. It's so good! So happy that he's excited for whats coming and seems to be really enjoying himself. Such a change from the rage and frustration of WoW
Heavensward was my favorite FF14 expansion. I love how welcoming the FF14 has been to you. Say hello to my boyfriend Aymeric, it's been a while since I've seen him..
I've played WoW for 15 years, and I can say with confidence that a welcoming party like that would never happen in that game. (And if it did the server would crash anyway)
Watching him progress the story, brings back memories. Since it'S already so long when i played heavensward... Great opportunity to enjoy the story again :)
@@myth5588 The gms in ffxiv are metal. Iv had ppl drop like fly's when they are being trolls/toxic. Its soooo nice to see something actually get done coming from wow where I can remember pll in zone chat spamming crap 24/7 for weeks.

The Heavensward trailer always reminds me that Dragoons have pointy armor so that when they get eaten by a dragon, they can still kill it on the way out.
I remember the reason of the curved horn spikes in all dragoon gear was to have extra latch points that can come off easily as will but the dragon can't easily shake you off.
If they had told me a year ago that Asmon was going to play FFXIV, that he would like it and that the community would support him, I would not have believed it. Yes d00d :)
He does the mispronounce as a joke but then that place/character becomes significant enough for him, he pronounce the name right. In the end the mispronunciation it's a joke, and a genius streaming technique to make everything more funny
Heavensward just has that feeling that gets through you, idk how to call it. But theres something so great about that expansion and the trailer that makes me fall in love with it every time i remember it. The time i started Heavensward some years ago, i had my jaw on the ground for the whole trailer. Simply amazing.
DUDE!! The moment i saw how all stand there and cheer up after his graduation made me cry. I do not care if i am weak, cause this video is wholesome as fluff from the start till the end.
@Jay Bee so you look at twitch comments, and use that to judge the entirety of FFXIV community? Geez... thats pretty much looking at Twitter and judge the entirety of humanity.
@Jay Bee Thats the common denominator in almost all aspects of communities. You're guaranteed to have a few bad apples in a bunch. However when its situations you can't control (Like this one) You can't judge the entirety, and if you say you aren't then you're simply stating the obvious
I realize Asmon is just a regular dude playing games, but if there are that many people who like your stuff and welcome you to a little bit of their world like this is just awesome.
This video makes me feel proud of the ffxiv community, in the course of about a month they went from trying to sabotaging or bad mouthing the guy to throwing Asmon a freaking parade for making it to Heavensward . In my eyes ffxiv is special because it is a world unto itself, a place that is MORE than just a game , a place that can be whatever you want it to be , and same goes for every other person who logs in , a place that everyone can indulge in their own version of fantasy.
You say that as if it's the same people. It's not. The people who attempted to sabotage shit were shut in losers with mental health issues that felt threatened by the cut of one man's jib. Everyone else in the community, and remaining 90%, welcomed him and helped him see the game's strengths.
@@candys7285 I never said they were the same people, hence why said OR instead of sabotaging AND bad mouthing, cause while very little of the overall community participated in the harrassment, a significantly larger portion of the community participated in bad mouthing or being dismissive of him as not serious about ffxiv . I've seen increasingly more positive comments and posts about him in the weeks since he started, and many more memes inspired by his intentional or otherwise bad pronunciations of character's names and the situations . Point is that they like him enough to plan , and this does seem planned, a parade to welcome him to Ishgard and Heavensward.
I was there, and it was a freakin Glorious Welcoming Ceremony. I wouldn't be playing this game if it wasn't for this guy and now I'm so proud and happy to be part of this wholesome community
Asmon, thank you for exploring this game. That feeling I had for WoW from 2914 to 2017 is back. I would never have entertained ff14 as an option if not for you.
It’s already a meme but it’s actually true… you can do everything he has done on the free trial, which includes the entire Heavensward until level 60. Can decide on next step after that.
You can see the love in this game.. The love from the developers and the willingness to financially back this product. Then you look at Blizzard, whose sole purpose is to bleed as much money out of customers whilst treating their middle / lower tier employees like garbage and deliver an ever-worse experience/product.
4:30 That moment when you realize WoW has had the same login screen for 19 years Edit: Thank you to P Mc for pointing out my error of logic. WoW was released in '04 (not '01), so 17 years rather than 19
What makes this game special is the fact that I don't need to download an add-on to rate my performance with a class I don't even like, and I have to play just because it's meta, hoping to get accepted for a simple mythic dungeon run... this game is so balanced that the community doesn't have to worry about a meta game or all that bs.
Very tiny minority still do in high end raids just because those are so demanding in terms of dps and heals. But yeah, overall, every jobs is pretty much balanced. You have big boom dps but with long casting or long procs. You have moderate dps but more versatile or more utlity (buff/debuff).
on ff14 you can go as any job without worry, on high end content tho thing that tend to be the rules is to not bring dupe job as it will slower the limit break bar
definitely as perfect as it can get. I don't see any other mmorpg can do this, really massive amount of players, organised, uniformed. I have big smile the whole thing.

Now he doesn't play anymore, lol... Back to Daddy Blizzard for Assmond.
I was in an extreme raid, and we literally wiped the entire time until time ran out. Not one person complained, they congrats everyone for getting to 3%, and said we knew we would get it next try. Great Job all. So f***ing refreshing to experience failure.
Learning Parties are for Learning after all
I always went into ex parties after watching a video, never having run it once lol.

The ones that cried toxicity. The ones that declared "nobody" wanted him there. The ones that tried to rally mass reports against him just because he is who he is.

He is playing a game that not only does he want to play but a game that actively rewards him with good content, good story, good music, and a fellowship of good players/friends as he progresses in it. his attitude towards ff14 is different if you watch/listen to him when he plays new world even in his alt stream. he knows new world has issues BUT sad thing is he is gonna main it. why? 1. it gives off the mmo feel and not the rpg feel that ff14 gives off more of. 2. there is a good chance with new world owned by amazon there is a chance amazon will tell twitch staff to do alot of promos, partnerships, deals to streamers that prioritize new world and lost ark. so asmon gonna invest into new world for possible chance of that deal if it goes through. if ppl say "thats stupid idea. what company would do that?" ..... lets open the history books to a fallen realm called MIXER and owned by MICROSOFT with the day they had the promo when HALO 5 released and the ppl like NINJA, SHROUD and others when they promoted it on there vs streamers on twitch. so yeah expect amazon gonna do the same for new world and lost ark for big known ppl on twitch. but yeah his attitude is bit better in ff14 vs back in wow and even with new world.
this part below ignore or read. up to you.
also kinda 3. asmon mention while back that wow is like an abusive wife. no matter what shit happens you go back to her because of the years you spent with her even if she berates you, throw shit at you and or squeeze you of money. well in this case the wife had plastic surgery and looks like new world now. he needs to invest ALOT OF TIME into her to make her happy but deep down he is happier meeting a girl thats nicer to him being ff14 and help out in stressful days but he spent and invested so much into the mean wife he cant just walk away for good.
wife is that well known woman and she is like "you bald bitch who got you to where you are??? me! you better lick my coach boots that you bought for me you bald fuck and do as i say or else i will strip you here and kick you to the streets to sleep with those raccoons." vs the regular girl he meets at the pharmacy to pick up pain meds for his wife butox procedure. the girl at counter is kinda wierd, into animes and super cute things but she is super nice and talks with asmon. she ask asmon if he interested to come to this anime gathering, out of boredom or dont wanna get deal with mean wife he goes, hangs out, meet others and likes the girl. now asmon is spot is just divorce the bitch and be with the nicer girl? but deep down he invest so much of his life with the mean bitch rules (rules being old mmo mechanics) and what she says he is kinda scared to accept a new view in life.
lol. if this was a reality show imagine when asmon went to go hang out with the nice girl/ff14 and the mean bitch/wow heard of this its when she goes on her instagram/facebook and saying asmongold is an ungrateful husband (this be when the community manager and such for wow on twitter talk shit to asmon.) which sums up the abusive relationship.

This made me cry. Everyone welcoming you was so sweet. Welcome home 💗
I was there, and it was a freakin Glorious Welcoming Ceremony.
I wouldn't be playing this game if it wasn't for this guy and now I'm so proud and happy to be part of this wholesome community
If he was excited that the first part of the trailer had the WoL as a WAR... looking forward to the ShB trailer rewatch if he does commit to DRK.
Asmon, thank you for exploring this game. That feeling I had for WoW from 2914 to 2017 is back. I would never have entertained ff14 as an option if not for you.
Makes me want to try Final fantasy even more now, I am so wanting a good MMO, I am losing hope but today changed my mind :).
Go for it you only live once
Welcome to Eorzea! Take your time with the game
You wont regret playing FF14 is the MMO at is finest.
It’s already a meme but it’s actually true… you can do everything he has done on the free trial, which includes the entire Heavensward until level 60. Can decide on next step after that.
Please do. For your own sake, play FFXIV. The release of serotonin will do you good, and we'd love to have you here with us.
I have seen many streamers over the years log into a game and be welcomed.
This is one of the coolest ways a games community has welcomed someone.
You don’t see this kind of story in WoW, and it only gets BETTER!
This was genuinely moving to watch happen live
I get chills every time I see the Ishgard introduction cutscene, with the narration over the Foundation theme. So damn good.
This was unbelievably wholesome. Welcome to Heavensward!
You can see the love in this game.. The love from the developers and the willingness to financially back this product.
Then you look at Blizzard, whose sole purpose is to bleed as much money out of customers whilst treating their middle / lower tier employees like garbage and deliver an ever-worse experience/product.

That moment when you realize WoW has had the same login screen for 19 years
Edit: Thank you to P Mc for pointing out my error of logic. WoW was released in '04 (not '01), so 17 years rather than 19
That’s not true….
@@pmc1727 You're right, my mistake
I thought it was 2001
It was actually Nov '04, so not quite 17 years - good catch ^.^
Final fantasy XI changed the title screen every expansion as well!
we didn't get flying until heavensward, so it was a pretty big thing.
Ishigard has the best BGM... it's so soothing
And that "Fking wow"... I think there's 2 meaning in it...
You have moderate dps but more versatile or more utlity (buff/debuff).
on ff14 you can go as any job without worry, on high end content tho thing that tend to be the rules is to not bring dupe job as it will slower the limit break bar
oooh boy wait till you see savage raiding community
Omg, I cried at the welcoming entrance for him 😭 I love the FFXIV community. It’s not perfect, but it’s definitely a COMMUNITY.
definitely as perfect as it can get. I don't see any other mmorpg can do this, really massive amount of players, organised, uniformed. I have big smile the whole thing.
@@k.vn.k its amazing how they acted welcoming him, I've never seen anything like that in WoW...can't believe I hated on this community before
its so cool seeing the community do this for each big streamer, its these sort of events that make the game even better!
Wow, that was a quick upload! I hope Asmon will show the DRK questline, or his reaction to it, it's regarded as a good highlight to HW overall.
one of the best job quest lines honestly.
@@SushiCombo The best Job Questline honestly
@@eliasacevedo5711 Definitely, just beating out playing Heavensward as a Dragoon.
Sole reason why I play this game, my first mmo I actually enjoy playing even of solo
Now the game officially begins.
Man you never see crowds like this in wow. It really lends to the immersion when you see stuff like this.
That's because WoW lacks the players to make a crowd like this. :^)
@@Naxthural Well...let's not go that far.
I've never played WoW but I assume there's been groups in that game as well.
crowds like this exists in recent of most asmon's wow transmog comp ending but not this big. its great.
Asmon really said the real Final Fantasy 14 are the friends we made along the way.
