I grew up listening to the Cathedral Quartet, growing up at the Cathedral of Tomorrow it's not hard to understand why. Every time they sang at church I absolutely loved it. When Kirk Talley joined them, this became my favorite of all the songs.
JESUS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Please fix this lonely old broken hearted woman... I have to depart from my family here on earth cause of drama and chaos... I only have you Jesus.. Please fill up and love this woman in front of you . I am retched and only u can fix me and love me.. THANK YOU JESUS
Whether it is Kirk, Mack, Ernie or my personal favorite Danny, there is no doubt that the Cathedrals have been blessed with some of the greatest tenor voices in the history of Southern Gospel music. Voices like these along with Larnelle and David Phelps show the glory of God every day and that is what is truly important. These men are using their gift to gorify the wonderful Creator and Sustainer of life.
sorry to be so off topic but does anyone know of a way to get back into an instagram account..? I was dumb lost the password. I would love any tricks you can offer me!
Wow “ What a message of GODS LOVE , grace, mercy, salvation by the blood of JESUS CHRIST. Awesome voice. Are YOU SAVED by the Blood of JESUS CHRIST? Amen
very beautiful Christian hymn, believe in Jesus for eternal life, your soul will live forever in Heaven, confess your sins today, you will feel the burden of sin lifted. God bless.
i didnt know that kirk sang with the cathedrals simply fantastic......will never find a better quartet anywhere except for in their videos;......they were simply amazing
George, you always brought praise to the master, with great jubilance! I'm so blessed to have been touched by the ministry of Christ in mysic- thru y'all!!
I think it is ridiculous to compare all these men to one another. Kirk, Danny, Bobby, and Mack all have unique combinations that bring a blessing to us all. This Reunion video has been a source of inspiration to me over the years and will continue to be. I thank God for His infinite wisdom and mercy in allowing us to preserve these performances so we can enjoy them over and over!!!
the message of this song is what's important. i hate it when people either make assumptions or say that someone was wrong in praising the Lord. if he is gay, then he has to answer to the Lord, but if he isn't keep your judgmental mouths shut and listen to the message of the song.
We all struggle with sin. But as believers we struggle. We don't condone sin of any type. Ray Boltz came out as gay and says his homosexuality is compatible with his Christian walk. Well it isn't. It would be like a man who is cheating on his wife with another woman and saying it is fine to do that. If Kirk is struggling and seeking repentance then there is hope. But if he condones this sin then he is in trouble.
As far as the tenors go in the Cathedrals, each one had their own flavor and delivered as best they knew could. As far as the group in general, each and every lineup delivered God's message and that's what mattered at the end of each concert. Just my soapbox for the night!
This was my adopted granddad's signature song. He sang this song most of the time at church. I lost him to lung cancer on March 15, 2014. Rest in peace, Bill Drymon. I will always love you.
What a voice. He is blessed and anointed. The some people complain, cuz they can't sing. Praise God that these wonderful men gave all the love and time to sing for our heavenly Father.
Love this Cathedrals Reunion video. Definitely some of the best versions of the songs the guys have recorded. They only have to do certain songs so there's not a lot of holding back. Some of the best talent ever sitting on that stage.
being a recovering alcoholic I certainly know I'm not perfect, I questioned my existence a few times asking god why give my these thing's that you know I can't handle, then a friend of mine who knew I was struggling thinking about picking up the bottle, spoke to me. and as soon as he said it I knew it was the Lord's words, he said Bobby, God don't call on the qualified, He qualifies the called. I think He certainly Qualified these guys.
bobby haynes. you where asking the wrong god. To ask the correct God for answers you need to call upon Jehovah God. if you need financial. help Jehovah Jira our supplier Or if you just want to talk to God just call upon Abba Father. and close your prayers in Yeshua. (Jesus name)
I think this song was perfect as the last song (save for Boundless Love). Performances aside, the song left an open ended message for it's audience whereas "Somebody Touched Me" would have been a lot more personal. "I Know A Man Who Can" was perfect as the last song. I'm surprised Ernie didn’t sing "Oh What A Savior" that night.
George said in the Reunion video that this song of theirs saved many souls. I think that is probably right. It was on the top of the SGM charts for nearly a year.
I first heard this song sung by two young men, David Dollar and Dan Kimberling. Dan has since gone on to sing in the angel choir in Heaven. Oh how I miss him and hearing him since. Wish I still had their tapes/CDs.
I can't take a heart that's broken Make it over again. But I know a man who can I can't take a soul that's sin sick Clean it up and wash it white, white as snow Oh, but I know a man who can. Some call him savior the redeemer of all men. I call him Jesus for He's my dearest friend. If you think that no one loves you and your life is out of hand I know a man who can. I can't walk, I can't walk among the waters And I can't calm the raging sea. Oh, but I, I know a man who can. And I can't cause blinded eyes to be open Or the lame to get up and walk again. Oh, but I-I know a man who can. Yes, some call him savior the redeemer of all men. But I-I can call him Jesus He's still my closest and He's my dearest friend. Now if you think, oh you might think that no one loves you Sometimes your life seems out of hand I know a man who can Yes I know a man who (I know a man) can (who can) Who can!
This is one of the most beautiful songs and I love hearing Kirk Talley sing it. I miss the Cathedrals very much. Thank you for sharing. God Bless You. Gwen Weaver
This was one of my favorite songs that Kirk Talley did! I heard it on the radio many years later and thought it was Kirk coming back and singing it again! It was the tenor for Greater Vision... couldn't believe the similarity in the tone of both tenors: quality so pure and true! This song is so uplifting! PRAISE THE LORD for Jesus! I KNOW a man who can!
Kirk is indeed an awesome tenor. Not the belting out style like some, but his tone is great, and he has good pitch, and interpretation. ....this group did the Live in Atlanta record in 83, which is my all time favourite live album.
@BnCSGMusic Great thing about various configurations is that u do get ur favorites. I have never heard a better version of this song. Kink, as far as I am concerned was at the top of his form and i still say he sings this song better than anyone ever has
I Can't Take A Heart That's Broken Make It Over Again But I Know A Man Who Can I Can't Take A Soul That's Sin Sick Wash It White As The Snow But I Know A Man Who Can Some Call Him Savior, The Redeemer Of All Men I Call Him Jesus, For He's My Dearest Friend If You Feel That No One Loves You And Your Life Is Out Of Hand I Know A Man Who Can I Can't Walk Upon The Water Calm The Dark And Raging Sea But I Know A Man Who Can I Can't Cause Blind Eyes To Open Or Make The Lame To Walk Again But I Know A Man Who Can
For those of you who've made the statement that Kirk couldn't belt the notes like Danny, listen to their live in Atlanta cassette which has been uploaded to youtube. Kirk was in his early 20's in that video and definitely in his prime. He belts out some incredible notes and his voice never sounds like it's getting tired throughout the whole concert. I once asked him why he never sings that way anymore and he said, "Things change when you get older"
Kirk could hit even higher notes than Danny in his prime. He could hit an F like it was nothing. Ernie too when he first joined the Cats but I found his early voice rather annoying. I'm happy it matured.
Guess what. I know That Man. HE loves me just as much as He loves you. He will be your dearest friend. I am talking about the Man Christ Jesus. His love is forever. Can you imagine that? Someone who will love you forever. Well, my friend Jesus can.
@shodobe1 Agreed, Kirk has always been one of my favorites. Roger, Debra and Lauren as well. The whole Talley family is very anointed. The Cathedrals were great with Kirk on tenor.
What a shame, that man just totally ruined himself. That's Unfortunate. He should have never let this happen. And he's not the only one in Gospel Music who has.
TheShospitali Are you perfect? I bet you're not as none of us are. We are supposed to pray for each other, especially when we slip and fall. Shame on you. Go ahead and cast the first stone, I'm sure you've never sinned and you're perfect. Oh wait, Jesus was the only perfect, sinless man?? That's right!!
Here's two other Cathedrals songs from the REUNION video that Kirk helped make famous, and no doubt about it, but Kirk was standing on stage in this video and the following two with the greatest three men in SGM. The first was the one you mentioned, "Step Into The Water" (written by Kirk Talley) @ watch?v=Eh9l83lCyr0 and the second was "Moving Up To Gloryland" (wrote by George Younce) @ watch?v=WfB4hgFqA8A
Thanks for correcting the record. Mr. Abernathy did indeed write both the lyrics and the music of this great old song. Movin' Up To Gloryland was one of the song featured on Gold City's tribute album to Lee Roy Abernathy.
III cant walk yet after surviving a bad stroke in Jan. Of 2023
Doctors cant heal me.
But I know a man who can!!
Praise the Lord friend
I grew up listening to the Cathedral Quartet, growing up at the Cathedral of Tomorrow it's not hard to understand why. Every time they sang at church I absolutely loved it. When Kirk Talley joined them, this became my favorite of all the songs.
Wow...that must've been awesome 👌
The Cathedrals always found the best tenors out there!

I was dumb lost the password. I would love any tricks you can offer me!
@Spencer Gunner instablaster =)
Roy Tremble was also good. So was Kirk. My favorite was the original: Bobby Clark, Danny Koker, George and Glenn.
It doesn't get any better than that!😮 Praise God!
As George would say “if that dont light your fire your woods wet”
Wow “ What a message of GODS LOVE , grace, mercy, salvation by the blood of JESUS CHRIST. Awesome voice. Are YOU SAVED by the Blood of JESUS CHRIST? Amen
My favorite all time gospel song! I list to it everyday. Kirk Talley is an awesome singer!
I happen to know for a fact that Kirk Talley is one of the sweetest and most loving men you'd ever want to me.
very beautiful Christian hymn, believe in Jesus for eternal life, your soul will live forever in Heaven, confess your sins today, you will feel the burden of sin lifted. God bless.

Kirk and his sister can sing. His songwriting is awesome. This was/is my favorite night.
Hello!!! How are you doing today! Please pardon me for intruding into your privacy but I just wanted to know if you're a fan!... Stay Safe
I tell you, this line up was fantastic. The toss up is between Kirk and Danny - Danny is hard to beat. Both great tenors.
SO BEAUTIFUL 💞 THAT YOUNG MAN SINGS LIKE VESTEL GOODMAN HALLELUJAH 🥰
Hello!!! How are you doing today! Please pardon me for intruding into your privacy but I just wanted to know if you're a fan!... Stay Safe
Moving up to gloryland was written by LeeRoy Abernathy, who was one of Georges vocal coaches.
Jesus is the MAN that CAN!!!

kirk talley was the first tenor i ever heard, and he's part of the reason i sing southern gospel music as a hobby
I know a man who certainly can. No matter what you're going through hold on to God's unchanging hand.
I believe the Name of the man who can is JESUS CHRIST OF NAZARETH!!
Blessed be the name of the lord.the man who can.
Glory to God!
Amen!!!
Love this Cathedrals Reunion video. Definitely some of the best versions of the songs the guys have recorded. They only have to do certain songs so there's not a lot of holding back. Some of the best talent ever sitting on that stage.
1996, and I still remember when it was brand new...
Cathedrals Reunion is such a memorable classic!
being a recovering alcoholic I certainly know I'm not perfect, I questioned my existence a few times asking god why give my these thing's that you know I can't handle, then a friend of mine who knew I was struggling thinking about picking up the bottle, spoke to me. and as soon as he said it I knew it was the Lord's words, he said Bobby, God don't call on the qualified, He qualifies the called. Jeremiah 33:3 GOD HIMSELF will answer if we call with a repentant heart. Amen
Love ya brother
gifts and talents cannot be revoked...pray for Kirk..I know he will come back, God is not finished with him.
The way I c it is simple,...in this video, the statement "leave the best for last" is so true!
Hallelujah! Yes He can! What an amazing voice he has! 🙂
Koooookkkkoiiggfrg

pray for kirk and for healing in his voice...spirit and his life
I first heard this song sung by two young men, David Dollar and Dan Kimberling. Dan has since gone on to sing in the angel choir in Heaven. Oh how I miss him and hearing him since. Wish I still had their tapes/CDs.
Hello!!! How are you doing today! Please pardon me for intruding into your privacy but I just wanted to know if you're a fan!... Stay Safe
Kirk does an awesome job on this song. I haven't heard it in years.
Kirk's voice is one a kind
I agree
Kirk wrote this song! What a talented man!
He will always remembered as a wonderful bass singer but a wonderful cheerleader for Christ as well!!
I can't take a heart that's broken
Make it over again.
But I know a man who can
I can't take a soul that's sin sick
Clean it up and wash it white, white as snow
Oh, but I know a man who can.
Some call him savior the redeemer of all men.
I call him Jesus for He's my dearest friend.
If you think that no one loves you and your life is out of hand
I know a man who can.
I can't walk, I can't walk among the waters
And I can't calm the raging sea.
Oh, but I, I know a man who can.
And I can't cause blinded eyes to be open
Or the lame to get up and walk again.
Oh, but I-I know a man who can.
Yes, some call him savior the redeemer of all men.
But I-I can call him Jesus
He's still my closest and He's my dearest friend.
Now if you think, oh you might think that no one loves you
Sometimes your life seems out of hand
I know a man who can
Yes I know a man who (I know a man) can (who can) Who can!
Wow the best rendition of this song. I know a man who can. Doesn't it just encourage you to continue running the race for Jesus. Thank you uploader.

This is one of the most beautiful songs and I love hearing Kirk Talley sing it. I miss the Cathedrals very much. Thank you for sharing. God Bless You. Gwen Weaver
🙌🙌🙌🙌 All glory to Christ JESUS!!!!
Heard the Cathedral Qtet several times during the 80’s
Kirk is a perfect example of God using us inspite of ourselves. Nuff said
This was one of my favorite songs that Kirk Talley did! I heard it on the radio many years later and thought it was Kirk coming back and singing it again! It was the tenor for Greater Vision... couldn't believe the similarity in the tone of both tenors: quality so pure and true! This song is so uplifting! PRAISE THE LORD for Jesus! Yes , Chris Allman and Greater Vision ,can also do this song ,VERY well !
Kirk is indeed an awesome tenor. Not the belting out style like some, but his tone is great, and he has good pitch, and interpretation. ....this group did the Live in Atlanta record in 83, which is my all time favourite live album.
Kirk wrote this song!
He's in the Holy Spirit here!
What a voice! Praise God!

Thanks, I stand corrected; you are right. Both are great Cathedral's classics.

I Can't Take A Heart That's Broken
Make It Over Again

Wash It White As The Snow

Some Call Him Savior, The Redeemer Of All Men
I Call Him Jesus, For He's My Dearest Friend
If You Feel That No One Loves You
And Your Life Is Out Of Hand
I Know A Man Who Can
I Can't Walk Upon The Water
Calm The Dark And Raging Sea
But I Know A Man Who Can
I Can't Cause Blind Eyes To Open
Or Make The Lame To Walk Again
But I Know A Man Who Can
I know Kirk Talley personally and I am hoping that he has found his way. He truly was one of the greats. I sang in our school chorus with him.
Hello Deborah
How are you doing today?
Wow! Awesome tenor!
I love this song, especially by The Cathedrals. Kirk Talley is one of the greatest soloist.
Hello!!! How are you doing today! Please pardon me for intruding into your privacy but I just wanted to know if you're a fan!... Stay Safe

Wow! Thank you so much for posting!
This beautiful song always ministers to me.
I love this rendition most of all.
Wow! What a voice..so powerful!

Kirk just nails it!!
I love this song.
Wonderful, praise the Lord!

Marvelous song
Hello Patricia
How are you doing today?
Yes indeed. Thanks for sharing? Kudos.
Danny was great, but to me the best was as always the original, Mr. Bobby Clark. Praise the Lord for his service.
What a shame, that man just totally ruined himself. That's Unfortunate. He should have never let this happen. And he's not the only one in Gospel Music who has.

@BettyTeasdale Chill out, theres nothing wrong with grieving when a brother falls. Go attack someone else
Hallelujah

Love Kirk Talley!!
I agree, both Tenors were fantastic! However, only Kirk could deliver this one with such power!
JOY - unspeakable JOY!
Lpve This!
Thanks for correcting the record. Mr. Abernathy did indeed write both the lyrics and the music of this great old song. Movin' Up To Gloryland was one of the song featured on Gold City's tribute album to Lee Roy Abernathy.

@BnCSGMusic I agree my fav line up was Danny, Mark and Gerald, but I would have to say that Kirk and Mark is what turned it around for them.
Amen
I second that!!
I thought it was Step Into The Water that was on top for almost a year.
amen
@rcayers3yahoo Wow, god bless you my friend. I am sorry you feel that way.
i know a man who can bring someone out of their sinful situation if he or she is in one. so respectfully i say, watch your tongues
