Fighting Red in Mt. Silver was the most epic Battle they've ever done in a Pokémon Game.
Yes that's true. It was one of the toughest fights, if not the toughest. Red was so incredibly strong back then. In the newer parts, however, it is shown so weakly.
As epic a sprite simulation battle can be. It's not Ichigo vs Ulquiorra or Yusuke vs Toguro levels of metal. But yes. A climb to the peak of Mt Silver where you fight the last pokemon battle of relevance is literally the pokemon games climaxing. Everything after is just a decent into meh.

@@justachilldude4356 Given their canon teams, Cynthia would win. She probably wouldn't even need to use Garchomp except vs Pikachu and Venusaur. Roserade beats Blastoise, Milotic beats Charizard, Spiritomb beats Espeon and Snorlax. And this is just via types; Spiritomb alone handles a lot of Red's team.
Red's team is iconic. But Cynthia's is BUILT.
(Also I set this aside earlier, but I'm p sure Garchomp could just sweep Red for free if not for Blastoise)
@@researchinbreeder Nah man, Garchomp could probably tank a hit or two from Blastoise given it's dragon typing making water type moves neutral. I don't remember if Red's Blastoise had any ice type moves, nor do I remember if Cynthia's Garchomp had any moves to deal with water types, but I agree with your analysis that Cynthia would probably win.
But what if it was the anime though? (I know Red's not in the anime but roll with it). In a world where electric moves can KO ground types, an unevolved Pikachu can defeat legendaries through sheer willpower, and using electric moves on a flying type gives it super armour, which Master Trainer would come out on top then?
Or better yet, what if it's from the manga? A place where all bets are off, and any move can be used in any way. Which clever clog wins then
@@justachilldude4356 well i can't speak to Cynthia in the manga since i just finished vol. 1 of DPPt arc (she gets a small teaser panel at the end), but anime is still probably Cynthia if we go with Origins Red. Unlike Ash, Red doesn't really have plot armor (which is the only reason Ash's Pikachu can fight Ground-types. Also, Cynthia beat Ash anyway iirc). And Mega Charizard changing from Flying to Dragon just makes it easier for Garchomp to beat (since Garchomp is faster, and now both of its types are super effective).
Manga Red would pose a SIGNIFICANT challenge though. Not only is his team overall better equipped to handle Garchomp (Poliwrath and Aerodactyl come to mind), but the members that DO match the games are significantly better trained and, like you said, manga battles are a totally different beast. Assuming Cynthia is as competent in the manga as she is everwhere else, this is a close call. As of manga FRLG, I think Cynthia still has a chance if she can get Poliwrath out of the way early. But just subbing out Blastoise and Charizard makes a LOT of matchups swing in Red's favor.
(This is why manga is best medium of Pokemon. If you are reading this, stop it and read the manga instead :p)
@@researchinbreeder I agree that both Cynthia and Red are godly trainers but Red chooses not to use his best theme on purpose, on account of the games he has all 151 pokemon and that includes mewtwo. He uses his nostalgic team.
Yes I agree Cynthia was tougher in the games and has a well balanced team, the real winner would remain a mystery as in the end Red is the player.
Manga best medium that's for sure and they are almost evenly matched therefore I do not know who would win
Last but not least it has been hinted that Blue beat all the pokemon leagues of all the regions giving him the title of World Champion..(this is an inference based on the theme in gen 5) If so, then Red and Blue have both beaten Cynthia before and the true power of their team is unknown.

Imagine travelling with your trainer for months, even years, fighting foes and defeating them as a unit. You battle the strongest people out there and beat them through sheer effort. They care for you when you are injured or sick, and you defend them to the best of your ability. Then, after a gruelling set of battles, your trainer has taken a moment aside to care for your wounds, you feel ready to relax a bit, the battles are over, you've reached the summit of the mountain. And then they throw you out to face the Devil Himself in his Nightmare Dimension.

( I did this because I was bored BTW )
One day in 1996 a trainer Red got a message from profesor Oak including blue, once they arrived the lab, they both received a request to complete the Pokédex. For reds starter was Charmander his rival blue chose squirtle to get the advantage, when Reds journey started he caught many Pokémon already once he arrived veridian city his rival made it way before him, he thought he was better than him, Red excepted the challenge but lost against blue, he was confused why. Later that evening a strange man questioned him why he lost against his rival, he also told him to also go to the gyms because he could learn a lot about them. And when he walked away he wanted to answer a question for him to learn “ what Pokémon are really about ”. Red got his Pokémon healed and went to pewter city when he went there he first got to the gym, a few people told him he needs to train a bit more to fight the trainer but when the leader came, he said he was ok with it. When Red s’all the leader he realized it was the same man he met. After the battle it left the final with Charmander and Ónix, somehow red won against Brock and got the boulder badge. Red got a margikarp from a man in a poke center, and met a group called team rocket, after that his Charmander evolved to charmelion, and defeated misty along with LT. Surge. And received a bicycle from the Pokémon fan club, And went through the rock tunnel and made it to lavender town. When he went to the Pokémon house where orphaned Pokémon lived, The owner Mr Fuji was missing, when he heard that he went to the Pokémon tower because of team rocket they took over the tower, Red decided to go against them and went to the tower. Blue overheard the chat and went to do the same so he can be famous, when blue went he s’all a ghost and ran back down the tower, he was surprised to see Red, Red challenges the ghost but nothing worked. When Blue went back up when Red was fighting the ghost team rocket spotted blue he defeated him and got the silph scope and passed it to Red and realized the ghost was marowak, cubones mother when he stopped fighting the ghost left, Red went up and stopped team rocket and freed Mr Fuji, with that he got a poke flute and a mega stone from Mr Fuji, after that he defeated Erika and went to a hidden basement and met the leader of team rocket Giovanni he stopped their plan and continued his journey he defeated the gym leader Koga and his charmelion evolved to charizard and made it to saffron city and made it to silph Co, he stopped the team rocket group freed the scientists and made it to the roof, but when he had to battle Giovanni again but lost against him and got away, after that he battled leader Sabrina and leader Black belt Koichi, when he finished defeated leader Blane and his fire Pokémon, soon Red heard that the veridian gym leader came back he went to the gym and he noticed it was Giovanni that was the gym leader. When he battled he was left with charizard and Giovanni knew he was going to win with his ground type, but when red did not care he said “ I will not LOSE, not to you this Pokémon is the proof on how far I becomed ” when Giovanni realized what he had done he remembered how he was when he was young, after the battle Red won. With that Red got the badge and Giovanni got rid of team rocket and it was longer a group anymore, Red continued his journey and went to victory road and made it to the Elite 4 and defeated the champions, and when lance mentioned that there is the Pokémon champion Red was confident he was not afraid to lose, when he opened the door it was his rival Blue, Blue wanted to skip to the point and battled Red. Soon it was 1 against 1 their starters, Red was close to lose but won the battle and became the champion, prof.Oak was proud of red, when he finished the battle with blue he continued his journey to complete the Pokédex and got the legendary birds and all Pokémon, when he went to see prof. Oak the lab was empty one of the scientists said that prof. Oak went to see blue, he was hurt really bad, Blue said it was a strong Pokémon in cerulean cave, when Red said he completed the Pokédex prof. Oak asked what moves it used to find out which Pokémon it was, but when noticing it was not there Oak thought there was 150 Pokémon Oak got Red prepared when he went to the cave Mewtwo was ready to fight but non of his Pokémon stood a chance charizard was the last Pokémon for Red charizard was almost defeated but the gem stones Red had was triggered and mega evolved Charizard and caught Mewtwo, after realizing it was created by mew, Red found it and caught it. Soon Red decided to train on mt. Silver and left everything behind him, his family and his friends... Then one day a trainer name gold started his journey, but that is a different story...
Also he was the OG character but people rarely know him all they know is that he is the final battle, but kids now and days don’t know he was the popular character in Pokémon until ASH came to the series and was more famous.
And that’s the story of Reds whole journey....

The last part is all the way false. Everyone knows Red was the character you played as in Gen 1. Also, there was no "until ASH came to the series," at least not in the West. Both the anime and games released in Sep 1998. The anime actually aired a couple weeks before the games were even released in the US.

@@SantosOverlord Both are from the games. Gen 1 Pokemon has a protagonist. Red is that protagonist.
Cynthia is a champion in one of the regions, and is regarded as one of the hardest champions to beat. Her Garchomp is regarded as a Nuzlock killer as well, easily whipping badly put together teams alone.

This is amazing, and since Pearl was my first game, finishing with Cynthia's theme hit me in my feels!
The opening to Cynthias theme seemed unnecessarily and yet necessarily creepy
Starting off strong and ending on a high note, with the 2 strongest trainers in the entire franchise, the grandiose strongest champion, and the epic final showdown atop a snowy mountain where nothing lives. Also love the distortion world and beast trio's song, both were very amazing.
I lived off of Glitch’s remixes in high school! These tunes were so great to rock out to during passing period.

ROM hacking is not illegal. Distributing ROMs is illegal. That is why nearly all ROM hackers release patches for ROMs which the player must provide, rather than full ROMs.
