I'm a dad of the sweetest 6 year old girl and I play this song all the time. I've always wanted to share it with her mom but that's another story for another day. Great song if you got a daughter. It's so true
bigoldinosaur How did they survive? 😉 Seriously though, I love my girls and son. Dispite every thing, would never want them to be different #DaughtersAreGreat
Mine had 4 teen girls.. at once. Ranging from 12 to 17. I dont know how our dad survived living with 5 females whose cycles tended to sync up. In a 2 bedroom house at that..
As the mom with (several) teenage daughters and fosterlings, I really like this song. My girls are creative, civil, sensible, loyal, brave, strong, and generous: real ladies. So proud of you! They are also popular, brilliant, beautiful, and talented. Where did THAT come from?!? You are amazing, ladies. It's an honour, pleasure and priviledge to be your Mom and watch you grow up.
This isn't a classic lol. It was released in 2011. That's hardly a classic. And if you think 13 years ago is long enough ago to determine a classic, then you must be pretty damn young yourself. Also, in the music world, a song has to be 20 years old to first be considered a classic, and 35 years old to be considered an oldies. Fun fact: some radio stations will consider a song an oldies song at 30 years old, but can't technically be labeled as, or call themselves an oldie station, if they only play songs that are 30 years old or newer. In order to be listed as an oldies station with the Federal Communications Commission, (FCC) a majority of the music that the radio station plays, (51% or more) must be 35 years old, or older. As to where a majority of the music played (51%) must be 20 years old, or older, (up to 35 years old) to be considered a classic station. And if they are a station that plays a mixture of music, like some country, some rock, some classic rock or country, or both, some oldies, some blues, some pop, etc, then they. Have to play an equal percentage of all genres, to be called a mixed radio station. So in the scenario I wrote, that would be seven (7) genres that the radio station plays. So in order for the FCC to allow them to keep the status of a mixed station, or a billboards top 100 throughout the decades station, they would have to play an EQUAL 14.29% of each genre, all the time. And if they played 14.29% of all of them, except two, and played 10.00% of one genre, but played 18.58% of, let's say, classic rock, (which would be the 14.29%, plus the additional 4.29% they took from another genre) they'd have to be listed as a Classic Rock station with the FCC, and would have to advertise as a classic rock station. Meaning any radio morning game shows they have for people to play where they can win concert tickets to see concerts for free, would all have to be classic rock based. As it is a federal law, that is mandated and monitored by the FCC, that all radio stations in the USA, that have games and contests that result in free prizes, must give out prizes (i.e. concert tickets, free albums, etc.) corresponding to the genre of music that the radio station predominately plays, and is registered with the FCC to play. Failure to do so can result in fines up to $250,000.00, for every prize given out that violates the law, as well as the radio station could either lose their licensing through the FCC and be given a life ban, or not be allowed to renew their broadcasting license at the end of the eight (8) years that they (including renewals) are good for. So there's some fun facts for the day for you!!! Now you can say you learned something new today. You can pull that information out at parties and get together's next time you're at either one. I guarantee someone will find it interesting, and a woman will hit on you thinking you're one of those smart, genius types. And if you need more info to impress her, let me know. Because unfortunately I am one of those genius guys. Ugh 😣
If only our teenage daughters really understood that we really love them and we are not trying to ruin everything or keep them from having fun, we just really want the best for them... I guess that's better than not caring at all...
Ethan C As a teenage daughter, believe me I know my parents love me and just want what's best for me. Even though their rules and nagging can sometimes be overwhelming, I know it comes from a loving place. I also know what a pain in the ass I can be, so I definitely give them credit for putting up with my teenager rebellious attitude and behavior. I honestly don't know if I'll ever have the patience to raise a teenage daughter, or teenage son for that matter. We're all pretty difficult at times, but we really do appreciate and love our parents
Awesome! I also guess that in the teen world today, social media has exploded! I remember being a teen around the year '2000, and we never had my space or facebook. In fact the internet was just coming around. I agree with you too, not sure how I could raise a teen daughter either, lol we would probably be butting heads all the time!
Ethan Cooperrider I am a “little” older than you, and oh man did this song hit the nail on the head!! I get it now. Teenage daughters giving me back what I gave my Mom around 1980 something!! And I do hope they realize how very much I love them, even though I always seem to be the bad guy!!
I'm addicted to Martina McBride's wonderful voice and precisely on this video as well! God Bless You Martina! I'm praying that your upcoming album sells 10x Platinum!
Wow!!! Delaney and Emma sure have grown since the last picture I have seen of them! They're brilliant in this video and I still love em! and of course, Mama Martina!
I can relate to this. When I was little, my parents seemed perfect - they were everything I needed. When I began to grow up, I started noticing that they had flaws, just like every human being, and it became harder to relate to them. But we still manage to reconcile our differences and get along for the most part.
Im 21 and every day at some point i post this on my mums insta amd twitter and fb no matter how old i get some how she knows everything and when everything gets so hard this song brings me back to being 16 with my first love who i was with for 4 years and it made me realise what mums avtually go through i pray to my saviour god when i have a teenage daughter or son their nothing like i was then or now
Another nail she hit right on the head!! I love Martina and all her music. This is something that both me and my 15 year old love, something that doesn't happen often between moms and daughters at her age..
I LOVE this music video so much!(: I think it's so cool how they go down the differant decades, I especially love the 50s and 60s because that's the time period I wish I was growing up in!
I'm a new mother of a 3 month old little girl, and I know how rough my own teen years were. I am dreading the teen years of my baby girl, for I know she'll believe I don't know what she's going through, and I fear I may have forgotten some my own experiences to help guide her. But I wouldn't miss it for the world. :)
When this song came out my little girl loved it and would sing along from her car seat. It was hard for me to imagine that she'd ever grow up. It happened so fast. ❤️❤️❤️❤️ *we'rejustmotherswe'rejustfathersofteenagedaughters*
Song makes me smile I remember singing it as a teenager now I have 2 girls of my own and they are something else.my oldest will be 9 on Sunday💓💓 now I see what my mom was saying all those years💯👏happy mother's day to all the moms this weekend
It is not a parents responsibility to be their children's best friend. This is where so many folks make mistakes because they are concerned what their child with think of them if they discipline them. I got my butt tore up many times growing up but I loved both my parents all their life and thanked them for their sacrifice in providing what I consider a great childhood with fond memories I will cherish all my life.
Man I'm gonna be 19 in 3 days and I can honestly say I never gave my mom too much trouble. Yeah I was a bit of a pain in the ass, but I didn't ever really break rules or anything like that
Maggie same here. I could be a bit snippy and rude at times, but I didn't even have a curfew cause I was never out too late. And if I was gonna be a little late I'd text her. She'd be fine with that!
Same, she always put endless trust in me because she knew I won't use it against her. We were always best friends nothing to hide. I aspire to be like her
Her husband is a very blessed man!! Those children are blessed too!! I think Martina is the bee’s knees! Such a Beautiful woman and love her voice!👋🙏✌️♥️
She and her daughters are so darn beautiful! And my mother is my best friend, no matter what we go through together she will always be there for me... and i know it. I feel it.
My mom, when my little sister was born, said "When Ryssa's seventeen and Maggie is fourteen I'm going to have two teenage daughters in high school together. Universe help me!" Yeah...that's where we are now. I'm a senior, Mags is a freshman and we hate it just as much as she does.
I wish my Mom was alive to hear this song....raising three daughters with a husband on the road, I am sure this would've been both her favorite song and theme music!!
This song is my life word for word lol I can relate to it from when I was 17 and now I've got a 17 year old daughter..... All I can say is Karma's a b!t*h! lol Great song

i am a teen i am thirteen and this how me and my mom acts i think think is pay back for giving my grandmother heck through her teenagers years but teens are not crazy they just change from a little kid to a adult my mom thinks i hate her but i don't i get frustrated but to all moms out there we love you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I love this song. the bad thing is that I didn't get a chance to be a teenager my mom had my lil bro when I was 12 and I had to grow up right then and help rise him. Now I'm 20 and all I do is watch him and make all my dreams around him.

"It's like it happened overnight, we're always wrong, they're always right, we use to be the one's breakin' the rules. Now we're just mothers, we're just fathers, of teenage daughters." Wow, actually my "baby" Maria will be 25 next month. Where did the last quarter century go!?
So my oldest Daughter Makala will be 16 at 8:55am tomorrow (7-26th) morning...all i can say is Wow...this song is RIGHT on besides the me needing a drink part..lol that would make things MUCH worse!! lol im sooo Blessed to have her, she's amazing! a True Blessing i couldnt ask for a better daughter! HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY MAKALA-PUA I LOVE YOU!!! XOXOXOX i know i dont say it enough thank you for alllll you do with your bro's n sis...You n amazing daughter n Sister! We love you!

I can’t believe I’m 29 and just now starting to appreciate the way country music tells life stories so well.
Great taste in music
You're still just a young pup yet

I listen to this song to calm down and to remind me being a teenager is a phase girls grow out of. Take a deep breath and move on.
Absolutely
My daughter is now mom to a 16 month old baby girl. She is already vocal and has a mind of her own. I love it.

I love this song! It's amazing! Martina is one of my idols! :D
Haha my mom loves this song:D
Reminds me so much of my mommy & I. I'm 17 years old & she tell me I'm her when she was my age. Though we argue, that woman is my hero
I ain't complainin'
But I'm tired, so I'm just sayin'
What I think
And if we're being honest
Then honestly I think I need a drink
My baby's growin' up
She thinks she's fallin' all in love
And that I hate her
At seventeen, she's just like me when I was seventeen
So I don't blame her
Do do do do
Do do do do
What are we gonna do?
Do do do do
Do do do do
What are we gonna do about it?
Remember when we use to be
Everything they ever need
We had them believing we were cool
It's like it happened over night
We're always wrong, they're always right
We use to be the one's breakin' the rules
Now we're just mothers, we're just fathers of
Teenage daughters
She rolls her eye's when I'm funny
But she's sweet when she wants money and her freedom
Oh my god, she's got a car
Swears they won't go far
And I wish I believed 'em
Do do do do
Do do do do
What are we gonna do?
Do do do do
Do do do do
What are we gonna do about it?
Remember when we use to be
Everything they ever need
We had them believing we were cool
It's like it happened over night
We're always wrong, they're always right
We use to be the one's breakin' the rules
Now we're just mothers, yeah, we're just fathers of
Teenage daughters
They're beautiful, wild and free
Everything we wish we could be
But they're still crazy
Oh you know, they make us crazy
Remember when we use to be
Everything they ever need
We had them believing we were cool
It's like it happened over night
We're always wrong, they're always right
We use to be the one's breakin' the rules
Now we're just mothers, and we're just fathers of
Teenage daughters
Yeah teenage daughters
I ain't complainin'
But I'm just tired, so I'm just sayin'
What I think
If we're being honest
Then honestly, I think I need a drink
A funny and charming video by an amazingly talented woman, who also has a wonderful sense of humor. Also, Martina has a lovely family.
"It's like it happened overnight, we're always wrong, they're always right, we use to be the one's breakin' the rules. Now we're just mothers, we're just fathers, of teenage daughters."

Domino_Emery they can still take the phone away and or disable it
If you have to resort to such drastic measures to discipline your child, it is time for you to take parenting classes.
ana dale my mom takes the charger so I can’t charge it
@@scottscage6409 Taking their phone away is drastic measures? XD
It might be considered so as a last resort, if you dont use better methods first, like teaching them self discipline in responsible phone use.
I love that Martina's daughters were in this video. Sooo cute!
