For free to play players, 4-star on the ring might be the sweet spot.
To go from 4-star to 5-star on the ring, it takes 15 attacks to farm the 75 metals, costing 90 adventure energy.
In order for that investment to pay for itself, you need to make 75 attacks, costing 450 adventure energy.
Most free to play players will never have 450 adventure energy after buffing their ring.

ya, I bought a $19 metal package, and a $37 ancient energy package, with a $120k emerald spend, you should be able to get the absolute totem. There abouts.. Ive leaned on interwebs resources hard for boss buff lvl and team make up, was instrumental in minimizing energy burn, and time burn. Burning emeralds to get outland boxes was the double dip that worked in this game.

I don't think it's worth it to max out the ring. To go from 3 to 4 stars it costs 45 metal to get 1 more metal per battle/raid. So you have to battle/raid 45 times to make the cost back, which costs 270 adventure energy. So to go from 3 to 4 it's only worth it if you'll have an additional 270 adventure energy after the upgrade.
From 4 to 5 stars it's 75 metal which requires an extra 450 adventure energy to break even, and from 5 to 6 it's 120 metal which would take an extra 720 adventure energy!
If you're purchasing lots of extra adventure energy, then maxing might be worth it, but if not it seems better just to focus metals on the Midas scroll or buffs after you hit 3 or maybe 4 stars on the ring!

You get some of the metals you need from the season thing, especially if you bought the ticket. But, also, I was definitely leaning towards buying a bundle on this account since I want to get that totem.

I won't touch the Treasury until I've completed other stuff that needs metals. My leftover metal farming attacks will be used to upgrade my scroll at the end, and then I'll hit the Treasury.

Yeah, that's kind of my thoughts as well, do the most of them after you finished out the rest of the stuff and see how high you can scroll at the end.
