I used to play this as a champion wake-up call, before stumbling my way trough to the bathroom and realize by looking into the mirror that my champion days had gone.
As a Calgarian, thank you Mr. Foster for writing such a wonderful song for one of the highlights in our city's history. Hearing this song brings back many happy memories of that time.
I was only 4 years old at this time.... I remember playing this song over and over..... My mom would blast it on the car stereo! Good times, good times! lol
Still remember hearing this on the radio in 1988 just about a week before the Olympic Winter Games began. It blew me away then and it still does today. Great song!!
+Mr. Nobody If you like this one, I am sure you have heard his rendition of the Christmas song "Carol of the Bells." That one blew me away and it still does.
+senorkaboom +Mr. Nobody You should have David Foster: The Christmas Album if you don't already. In addition to that song, the best ever versions of "O Holy Night" and "The First Noel" and an awesome version of "Grown-Up Christmas List". Also, "Flight Of The Snowbirds" (I think of Avatar when i play that) from the self-titled compilation album, which also has a rare David Foster vocal on "Who's Gonna Love You Tonight".
This piece WAS the Winter games of '88! Must have played it a million times from a cassette! My students in my fourth grade class even danced to it that year! It never gets old! Loved it then and still love it today!

1988, a life-changing year in more ways than I can describe. This song was part of it, not the decision to make the changes but more of a sense of energy and optimism that was justified. Now I'm old and looking back on those halcyon years and the even better ones that followed it with gratitude.

This is one of my favorite instrumentals. As someone who has learned and plays piano, guitar, drums, and vocals, I think it would be great if David Foster and his band performs this piece with Yanni and his orchestra (the two doing a piano duel). The two would make a great collaboration and this piece is fit for Yanni to cover too and the same goes for Richard Clayderman. Just stating my opinion and I respect your opinion too.
This music is inspired. I had the good fortune to work as a temp at A MAJOR RECORD COMPANY FIELD OFFICE in Mass. USA. They used to stack demo records of artists in the center of the room, like the packing material pile when you receive a bunch of new equipment. So, n00b me asks, "What's uhhh, what are those records, there?" And I hear music. "OH, THOSE ARE JUNK. THEY"RE GOING TO BE CRACKED". "YOU MEAN...I mean, you mean I can, like, take some, and it's no problem?" NO PROBLEM AT ALL. I lost my damn mind. There must have been 200 different artists at all stages of career. Seriously, everything but "HOT HITS' might be in that pile. I almost couldn't carry my selections in one trip. Srsly, , I could just see over the stack to walk. Kinda heavy, but I made it to the ride without incident. I bet you will find Foster was on Warner or Electra or Atlantic records If you can find "The Christians" (surname) "Forgotten Town", it's catchy. David Foster's 'Winter Games" was one of the albums in the stack. I have treasured just KNOWING about the piece, because I was newly married when this event occurred, and tv was second-rate entertainment ATT ;-) I found several artists that never 'made it', but became a part of an amazing era in my life. But David Foster's singular writing/arranging talent on 'Winter Games' is so beautiful, it still makes me cry.
I love this music, it is just bad I left my old tapes in the country where I used to work because of the war in that country. I have so many cassette tapes of David Foster albums. I bought those tapes 3 decades ago.
Best Olympic theme ever...for the best Winter Games in history. My home town of Vancouver was never able to recreate the magic of Calgary, 1988. Perhaps was the fact I came here during that time and things were just perfect then...well, perfect for a 10 year old. Theme of my Childhood. Expo '86 and Calgary '88.

love what you had to say !

That woulda been a cool way to die... but I’m glad you didn’t! 😝
Charlie Tango, that is something that I would totally do. Right on!
Back in the 1980s, used this music as the theme music played to the crowd at airshows for our three-ship formation show!

Nice to win one of the big ones, eh?
I mean, it ain't exactly "Dirty Water" by the Standells, but it'll do.

A pure gem of 80s pop music that touched hearts around the world. We need more like this, now as much if not more than ever.

Fires up the Olympic spirit, for sure
Miałam 11 lat to był piękny czas, piękne igrzyska. Do dziś płaczę przy tym utworze :))
I remember hearing this song at the opening ceremonies for the Calgary 1988 Winter Olympics. I thought it was great but didn't know the title, who made it or where I could get it. 32 years later, it was on the David Foster Netflix documentary. Finally found it.
If only we had Google back then. You would have known in 10 seconds.
Haha, I just came from watching the same documentary, what an amazing life.
I also found it from watching the documentary!

I love this song. I’m still listening to it in 2021. I’m proud to be a fellow Canadian lol

してしまったのか、したのか。。いずれにせよ、デヴィットは偉大で俺の青春に刻まれたよ。
My old band teacher made an arrangement for this song in our band. It was our pregame song for football games.
Dahulu, sebelum berangkat kerja aku harus puter lagu ini... Biar tambah semangat...
The most excellent students of the Kyoto Tachibana High School Band do what I believe is the best rendition of this great tune.

Wspaniała kompozycja z doskonałym wykonaniem.
LOVE THIS !!!!
And thankful it's more than just the music behind some 1988 Acid flashbacks !!
LOL
Shannon Towson Wow 🤩
