TIP: One thing that you might need to remember with the J-Hook screw rods, the front one ( 1:55 ) the J part of that hook actually goes into a hole on the bottom right side of that metal block. It tends to just fall over once loose and tends to make you think it goes under the long part of that block, but nope, there's a small hole that you would guess/spot unless you actually shine a flash light on it. A lot of swearing and ranting happened until I spotted that with a flash light. ;)
I think it would help if you showed using the extra battery and memory saver connecting it to the diagnostic port in a slightly longer form. I also use dialectric grease or even vaseline on the battery terminals.
Hi - Thanks for watching! Many late model vehicles require that the replacement battery be registered with the vehicle's battery management system. Check out our videos on how to do this. The links are in this video's description.
Why would you use a battery that is going to vent right next to the sensor to begin with? The gasses will eventually eat the sensor, causing issues down the road. Just get the proper style battery. They used side vents for an obvious reason. The 2017 Forester does not require any registering of the battery. We replaced our battery (with a sealed AGM type) and it went just like any pre 2000 era battery replacement. No issues as of yet...
Hi! What are you using with your socket wrench to reach the fastener nuts? Looks like it must be some kind of long and hollow extension piece? I don’t know what it’s called. Thanks!
Thank you for watching. You will want to check with you dealer or mechanic to see if your vehicle needs to be registered once the battery replacement is completed.
Hi. Need some help. I have a 2018 WRX Limited with an OEM Subaru battery. Electrical system and battery have been fine up till now; no electrical issues at all. I just wanted to clean the corrosion around the terminals. I disconnected both terminals, cleaned them up, and then reconnected it all back at it was. Now I'm having a problem with the Starlink Infotainment system only; every other electrical is good. The radio system will not reboot/restart. The progress bar reaches the end and then starts over again. What gives? Is this typical if you were to change a battery? Is there a way to reset the Starlink radio? There are not options to select, nor does it ask for a radio code. The backup camera works just fine. I tried disconnecting the terminals again, but no luck. Any suggestions?
Hi - Thanks for watching! We use a memory saver to avoid these problems. We suggest that you check the vehicle owner's manual and/or a service/repair manual for the reset procedures.
Resolved my radio issue. So the radio was stuck in a boot loop after disconnecting my battery. I happened to notice a micro SD card, from Subaru, in the upper right corner slot of the head unit’s face. I removed the card and the radio now works. What the heck is this card for? I’ll have to check the files. After, I put the card back in and restarted the car. Radio still works. Hope this is helpful to others with a similar issue. ✌️
Hi - Thanks for watching! We use both in our videos. A socket is a "socket wrench" and a ratchet is a "ratchet wrench". There is also an "open end/box wrench". We sometimes use a "torque wrench" as well.
Excellent video! Thank you for explaining how to properly adjust the bolt on the negative terminal.
Hi - You're welcome and thanks for watching!
very well done video- I did my 2016 Subaru Forester after watching this.
Hi - Thanks for watching and sharing your experience!
This was incredibly helpful. Had the same issue with the interference on the negative post. Thank you!
Hi - Thanks for watching! We're glad the video helped.
Question: do you need to play this music during replacement? And if so, where can I find it?
Hi - Thanks for watching! It's not necessary but you can if you want. It's from the UA-cam creator's royalty free library.
Excellent visuals and explanation. Thank you!
Hi - You’re welcome and thanks for watching!
This video could not have been better ... unless it came with a free battery. LOL! Thanks so much.
Hi - You're welcome and thanks for watching! We're glad the video helped.
@@TheBatteryShop BTW, the installation process went perfectly, and the engine turned over without hesitation!

Thank you for watching and for the feedback.
Thank you very much. Changed mine with your help.
Hi - You're welcome and thanks for watching! We're glad the video helped.
Gracias!!!. Me ayudó muchísimo. No sabia cómo sacar la tapa roja de la bateria
¡De nada! Nos alegra que hayas encontrado esto útil.
No dielectric grease? I always use this to coat the terminals and protect from moisture and contaminants.
huge help. Thank you!
Your video was extremely helpful! Thank you!

For a 2017 Subaru Forester... How did you take care of the memory settings... Also what about the Battery Management System?

Hi - Thanks for watching. We used a ratchet wrench, a socket and an extension.
Do I have to use that memory saver to change the battery? Or can I do without it?
Hi - Thanks for watching! Please check out our video on Memory Saving to answer all of your questions. The link is in this video’s description!
Awesome!
Hi - Thanks for watching! We're glad you like it.
if you're going from a non agm battery to and agm battery on a 2014 Subaru forester, you don't need to code it?
Thank you for watching. You will want to check with you dealer or mechanic to see if your vehicle needs to be registered once the battery replacement is completed.
The bolt you loosened to pivot the neg terminal is super stuck on my vehicle. It won't budge. Any advice?
Me too, did you fix it?

Do you have to use the memory saver?
No
not absolutely necessary, one will have to reset clock and personal settings if not used
Jeepers the negative battery terminal costs more then the battery! And it's terribly designed. Mine already needs to be replaced.
Thank you for watching!
Wrench or socket and ratchet?

Please put me down for still another thankyouverymuch vote......
Hi - You're very much welcome! Thanks for watching.
Was that a panasonic battery?
Hi - Thanks for watching! A battery manufactured by Panasonic.
@@TheBatteryShop ok thank you
