I seriously love your videos!!! I went through 2 miscarriages this past year in a period of 3 months and it was sooo difficult. I am now 31 weeks pregnant and it was really hard to let myself be happy after having those miscarriages so I totally get what you must be feeling right now! my heart goes out to you and I just wanted to let you know how much your openness and knowledge has helped me and continues to help! Thank you!!!

I completely get it when you say you're worried- I'm currently 18 weeks (tomorrow) and we waited until I was well over 15 weeks to tell people because I was so afraid something was wrong since I have felt perfectly fine. I can't begin to tell you how many people had to comment on how far along I am before we said anything. Seriously people I just didn't want to be excited we are pregnant and then tell people that we've lost it❤️

I’m 36 weeks with my first and we don’t know the sex! Love having an extra surprise to look forward to.
I found the first trimester to really drag on slowly due to not feeling 100% and the isolation of waiting to tell people. I was nearly bursting wanting to share the news. These last several weeks however, have flown by!
Love any content you post, even if the frequency has slowed. We understand! Your postpartum care video came at a great time for me personally as I shop and mentally prepare for L&D and postpartum very soon.

My OB does an 8, 20, and 36 week scan. The 36 may seem unnecessary but with my second, it showed that the baby was measuring HUGE. We planned a c section because of this and I'm so glad because he was ten and a half pounds at birth and she said there was no way he would have fit out of my pelvis!

I just wanted to share my experience in case it's helpful to anyone. I felt like Nurse Zabe during my last pregnancy. I didn't want to bond with the baby for fear of something going wrong. When I did end up losing him at 18 weeks, I instantly fell in love with that little guy the moment I saw him. I really regret not taking the time to bond with him during the time that we had together. I'm not sharing this to give advice, I know everyone is different, but that's how it was for me.

    • @laurenashleysexton
      @laurenashleysexton 3 роки тому +5

My friend is like that, she was scared of losing her baby the entire time and just felt miserable. She was in such a negative mind space. Her labor wasn’t the best either. And I feel like your body goes where your mind does. My encouragement is to stay positive. It’s normal to be anxious. I miscarried with my first and we told everyone right away and I don’t regret it, because it was still life. I still loved that baby and knew I would. I hate how we feel like we can’t count life until we reach a certain week in pregnancy. We are allowed to love those babies as much as we want. The way I look at it, you can’t predict when or if something is going to happen, whether that’s a few weeks or a few years. If we wait to be happy or wait to have peace till we reach certain stages, we will never truly live in the moment.
This comment isn’t for you, it’s to encourage other women too who have felt this way.

I am 22 weeks 5 days with my second child and I have an anterior placenta. I was so sad about movements being different but I must say, I felt baby around 15 weeks but consistently started feeling baby around 20 weeks and I feel a lot now. The greatest difference is I feel baby down very low instead of in the front but I have been pleasantly surprised how much I’ve been feeling. This was my first pregnancy and I was so scared something would go badly the whole time. I had an anterior placenta as well and I felt movement from 16 weeks and my husband felt her at 21 weeks. I had a frontal placenta with all my babies so far (not sure about number 4 yet) but I have to say it stinks at first but in the long run I liked it. Once the baby gets super strong having an extra layer on the front is nice haha. Also stay strong!!! After having miscarriages we didn’t find out for baby 3 and it was completely worth it! Once you get passed the 20 week scan it gets so much easier. I can also empathize on the guarding your heart aspect. When we were trying for baby 3 we suffered a missed miscarriage and a spontaneous miscarriage. It for sure sucked the joy out of the next pregnancies. Every day/week/month the anxiety decreased and the excitement came in. I’m a few weeks behind you with baby 4. Still have anxiety and still not finding out this time either lol Can’t wait to be on this journey with you.

I am in the same boat as you. I had a chemical miscarriage a couple months before this pregnancy. I've only recently started having a relief in anxiety. I am 25 weeks 2 days. I also have an anterior placenta this time. It was so hard not feeling the same way when the baby would move. At first, the movements just felt like a tiny potato was rolling around in my lower abdomen. This is my 4th pregnancy, and will be my 2nd baby. I'm having quite a few braxton hicks that are quote painful, so im having to keep an eye out in case they start dilating my cervix. But as of today's Dr appointment, my cervix is closed.♡ Also, your video explaining what happens to our hormones during labor helped me learn to calm down during my pelvic exam. I have pelvic floor dysfunction and I normally cry during exams. I didn't today! Thank you so much for all of your knowledgeable advice!

I'm so glad to see an update! I had 2 missed miscarriages in 2019 so I get the anxiety! I'm not 20 weeks pregnant and just in the last few weeks have been feeling more excited and like *maybe* it'll happen. Though the fear won't go away fully until I'm holding that babe in my arms! Also, I had an anterior placenta with my daughter (first on only child so far) and I still felt flutters at 15.5 weeks and strong kicks a few weeks later. So you will likely still feel a decent amount, just not as much as before. Praying for a healthy pregnancy for you and your babe!

In the UK, we typically get 2 scans, free with our national health service. The dating scan is at 12 weeks, which is also when they look at nuchal translucency. At my dating scan I found out that my estimated pregnancy dates were also 4 days later than what was predicted, but the difference is that my due date was actually amended to reflect this. The Anatomy/Anomaly scan is at 20 weeks, when some people also choose to find out the sex of baby. We did choose to find out, but only my partner and I know, we haven't told anyone else. This is our first baby so we were too excited to wait... But totally support your decision to wait for the surprise (stay strong mama). Growth scans are offered later on if they're worried about growth rates or if you have an existing condition that makes things more complicated. I have a slightly higher than normal BMI which makes predicting baby's growth from fundal measurements more tricky, so I have regular growth scans to keep track of baby's growth rate. The silver lining is that I get to see baby more often. Currently 32 weeks and going for a growth scan next week. My partner and I also went for a private scan (that wasn't with the NHS) at 26 weeks, as it was the only way my partner could come along to a scan and see his first child in utero. He hasn't been able to come with me to any appointments so far this pregnancy due to the current global situation, which sucks but is understandable for health and safety reasons. But that scan was amazing as we both got to see our baby in 4d glory, and came away with some awesome squishy 3d images. 🙂

Expecting my 5th with the same EDD as you!! And aiming for my 5th gender surprise. It's the best!
With most of mine I've only had 2 US (dating and 20 week) with most of my previous pregnancies . One I had a follow up at 30 weeks to make sure my partial placenta previa had moved up. The other I had GD and was on insulin so had a NST weekly for a few weeks and that included a quick US as well
This pregnancy my dr has been using her in office ultrasound machine instead of a doppler. Not sure why but not complaining. But it's super quick for just a minute nothing in depth.
And I also get the uncertainty after a miss. I've had 6 of those to date (a few chemica, a few a little later) makes the whole experience so much more nerve wracking. I feel tons better once theres movement.

I have an anterior placenta. I felt her move around 16 weeks but it wasn’t extremely obvious until 20 weeks and at that point my husband could feel her also. I mostly feel little bumps and gentle thuds. I’m 30 weeks now and I still get so nervous if I don’t feel her for awhile even though I know the placenta is muffling a lot. This is our first baby but we had 3 miscarriages beforehand. I can relate to the feeling of guarding your heart. I’m sure a lot of women can and it’s something we don’t talk about enough. When it comes to finger pricks: it's incorrect to prick the index fingers - if anything happens that leads to people going blind and having to read braille, they will need the sensitivity of those fingers. Also: do NOT prick the middle - you're supposed to do it off to the side, both because it's cleaner, less painful and easier to draw blood from

I am SO excited to be following along with your pregnancy. I’m about a month behind you, due June 27th. ☺️ I’ve been trying to get information on what baby items are ok to buy used and what needs to be bought new. I would love your perspective on that. I’ve found some really great items on Facebook Marketplace. The only thing I’m sure of is that I’ll be getting a stroller/car seat travel system new. Thank you and congratulations!

Miserable and nauseated and throwing up their entire pregnancy -I finally stopped throwing up (with the help of medication) at 16 weeks, but the nausea and dry heaving is still here at 27 weeks! I’m glad you’re starting to feel better, it’s the worst to feel so crappy day in and day out.

I had my right ovary removed in september b/c it had a borderline tumor. It put my ferility journey on hold. I have pcos and was supposed to start Femora next week, but I took a pregnancy test last night and it was positive!!!! On Christmas eve I was exactly 4 weeks! Love your videos!

My due date was changed when my first 2 ultrasounds showed baby 4 days behind. Due date from LMP is 3/27. Due date from ultrasound is 3/31. I also have to see a specialist because of “advanced maternal age” 🙄 but I do get a lot of ultrasounds and I get to see baby at least once a month plus my regular OB appointments. I’m currently 25+3 and I love your videos.

At both practices I’ve been to they won’t change the due date unless it’s a 2 week difference. According to my baby’s current size she’s supposed to be born about a week before my due date. I wish it were true because it would make her a Valentine’s Day baby ☺️ It must just vary by provider/practice 🤷🏻‍♀️

So glad you are starting to feel better! I have kaiser and for me they did 4 ultrasounds. Around 7-9 weeks to date, around like 11 weeks to confirm pregnancy looked healthy still, anatomy scan at 20-22 weeks ish and at 36 weeks to confirm head down. I also went to a outside place and had a 3d/4d scan at like 34 weeks which was so cool! I also had an anterior placenta this time too

25+4 into my first pregnancy. Definitely feeling the abs having given up lately. Extracting myself from the couch is becoming fun. My placenta is also anterior, and I didn’t feel her until 20ish weeks. Now I feel her, but it’s nothing strong and always on the sides. I hear by 28 the feelings should be much stronger regardless of my anterior placenta. Have fun with your second trimester energy!

This is our 3rd baby and last pregnancy. I'm also always cautiously optimistic, always waiting for the other shoe to drop. I also have an anterior placenta this time around, but I did start feeling movement early, just on the sides at first, like little pokes. Now I'm 31w5d and he moves like crazy. I feel movement all the time, including in the front area, so I'm really happy about that. With my first 2 babies I had an early ultrasound, the 12w NT scan, one at 20 weeks, then one at the 3rd trimester because my belly would drop and that would show lower amniotic fluid. This time around I didn't have the 12w scan, just genetic testing, but I've had so far 4 ultrasounds and will continue to have them. I think it's because of my pprom history and other little issues, but I'm always glad to see my little boy growing. Now, this pregnancy has been the worst by far. First trimester was tough, then I started getting Makena shots, which make me a little sick every week, and I'm having horrible round ligament pain, to the point that I can barely walk most days and have to rest a lot. It's hard, since my little ones are 2 and 4, so they really need me. Plus, I'm homeschooling, or attempting to, at least. So, yeah, I'll be glad to be done with this pregnancy and be able to be a normal person again. If you have any tips on pprom or round ligament pain I'd love to see videos on those topics.

I had an anterior placenta, it was my first pregnancy so I didn’t have anything to go off on. But I believe I started feeling movement here and there around 14/15 weeks (only once and awhile) and then right around 20 weeks I felt him move way more and it increased from there!! And I did feel movement in the front of my belly as well as by my ribs, down low! Maybe it’s different with person to person, but I feel like I felt lots of movement despite the anterior placenta!
Also good for you guys not finding out!! We didn’t find out and it was so magical!!! We ended up having a boy!! 💙

    1. I have an anterior placenta and I was worried about movement. I felt kicks/taps on my hip at 17+3 so there is hope! Now 32 weeks I am feeling a lot, so it gets better, I was worried also.
    2. I feel like the pictures aren't the best and I swear it has to be because of the anterior placenta! I'm so sad because I feel like the pictures are grainy and just not as super clear!
Congrats again and I hope you continue to improve and feel better!

Oh I feel this on a personal level! I’m only a couple days ahead of where you’d be now. First trimester I had no idea what had hit me (FTM) the house went to chaos and I just had to give myself grace same as you. The second trimester is going a bit better but not the magical better time people describe.
I had my nuchal as well and also felt a bit less stressed after that but then at my last visit with the OB at 16 weeks I found my self so anxious in the lead up for them to check her heart beat and if she was ok. Thankfully my placenta is posterior and I think I’m starting to feel flutters so hopefully that helps me relax a bit.
I’m in Australia and sounds like our main ultrasound schedule is similar. Dating scan around 8 weeks. Nuchal around 12 optional. Morphology around 20. More scans if there are issues.
But, and I’m not sure if this is just the public hospital I’m going to or if it’s because I’m in the high risk clinic, they usually do a quick bedside ultrasound each visit so I get a quick peak and it’s so nice! They tried a Doppler instead last visit but couldn’t find the HB so had to go get the scanner anyway.
I’m looking forward to your next update. It’s fun getting to follow along with someone on the other side of the world through the journey.

I can relate to how you are feeling with this new pregnancy after a miscarriage. I lost one in March and found out a month later I was pregnant again. I didn't stop stressing until I got past 24 weeks. I am currently 37weeks with an anterior placenta. I have been feeling my baby since about 15-17 weeks. But my family didn't feel the baby until about 25 weeks.

6+5 here and the nausea hit hard this week. I am not getting anything done at work, my back is killing me and I am so tired. I am struggling with food and have low energy mixed with beeing tired, so I work until 3, try to eat something simple, like toast, hang out with hubby until 7 and then sleep until 10 before getting up and make a late dinner for myself and spend half the night on the couch with nausea before a few hours of sleep. I just hope it changes soon because this is awful! Ohh and the anxiety for a first time mum-to-be is SO HIGH. I know miscarriages are so common I just can't let myself relaxe and belive I'll be lucky on the first try, it's like I'm expecting something to go wrong because I can't belive I can be a part of the statistics that don't experience mc/ma etc. It's so mentally draining.... So, good luck to all mamas and mama to be out there, I hope your headspace is good and you can enjoy the experience ❤
