The C-chips (i5-5675C and i7-5775C) were the only socketed chips with Crystalwell (embedded L4 cache/VRAM for a respectable iGPU) and were also unlocked. The R-chips were the BGA variants of the same. The iGPU of those chips (Iris Pro) rivaled a GTX 750, IIRC.

Thank you so much for this explanation of part of their chip naming. Intel Chip Naming is a Big Box of Tangled String Intel has different Cores i3, i5, i7, i9, and Xeon. Each one of those has at least 10 different versions of it. They use a bunch of 5 digit numbers that are not always in order. They have like 11 different "Architectures", roughly one per year. Each Architecture has its own name. All of the architectures either look similar or sound similar, like Lake, or Coffee, or Skylake, or Bridge, on and on. There are like 11 "Generations". There are varying number of Cores, 1, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 etc Some of the chips are for Desktop, some for Mobile, some are Embedded. Each and every dimension that I've listed so far, can be intermixed, intermingled, intertwined with every other dimension I've listed so far. Plus there's a lot of factors that I haven't mentioned. Wikipedia has a ton of information, but it's like jumping into the ocean and trying to write down the names of all the fish you see. Intel has a lot of lists on its website too. I've copied dozens of files, I've created 5 subdirectories, ~30 files, and many many hyperlinks connecting those files together. I have been working for 4 to 10 hours per session, for at least 3 sessions trying to figure all of this stuff out. I think that Intel is intentionally trying obfuscate/confuse/befuddle the outsiders, so that they cannot make an intelligent decision, and instead just have to rely on the marketing hype. THIS IS RIDICULOUS !!!!!! They should name their Chips as follows: Year, Month, Day, # of Cores, Base Clock Speed, Architecture, Familiar name. For more confusion, "E" has been very rarely used... plenty of Celerons and Pentiums (and Haswell and earlier i3s) support ECC memory as long as they're used with an appropriate motherboard chipset. And of course they don't stick "E" on the Xeon model numbers, ECC support there is a given.
