They,re all great, but being a fiddler I'm particularly blown away by Byron Berline. He's awesome in his own unique way! I've always loved his playing.
Discovered these guys about 20 yrs ago.... Anything they did is worth it... Still a fan, always lift my spirit... Check them out... they're much more than this...✌😎👍🍻
I talked with John Hickman (he makes it looks so easy) between sets at a Byron Berline Band show and he told me that California was the best band he ever played in. Certainly my favorite group ever. What a lineup of talent.
You can hear lots of John with his own group Bluegrass etc. A hot picker and very nice guy. Nickel creek has a lot of good things to say about John in their NPR interview on All Songs Considered. You can find it on iTunes
@7836andrew It is named California Traveler but it is basically the traditional tune, Arkansas Traveler. Called California because of the groups name. World class musicians for sure, wish they would get together again. Ricky Skaggs has a song called Sis Draper with the same tune.
Was this the same group that played a song called "Sasquatch" back in the early 90's I guess ??? That's always been one of my favorites and I haven't seen or heard it in a long time. Does anybody have a a video of that ??? Thanks

John, your picking is so clean and the tone you get out of that mandolin is beyond words.. you are now my favorite!
What an all-star lineup. Brilliant! Dr. Dan has been my guitar hero for 30 years.
RIP Byron. Travel well.
Wow
Who is that mando man?
I found this searching for Dan Crary.
What a magnificent band.
Thankyou for posting this!
Loved this lineup, got to see them live a few times, this was always one of their best live songs
2:30 dual mandolin-guitar note matching solo, perfect timing.

Not quite. The intro and ending were written by Dan Crary and John Moore
SO, there's a lot to say about this great tune but nobody has offered or asked what the name of it is. What is it? Thanks!
