Next Up for Top Rank Boxing, WBC/WBO/IBF light heavyweight king Artur Beterbiev now has a date to defend his crown. After recent dental surgery forced Beterbiev to postpone his Aug. 19 title defense against former world champion Callum Smith, the two will now meet Saturday, Jan. 13 at Videotron Centre in Quebec City, Canada.
Beterbiev vs Smith and the co-feature will be televised live on ESPN. Undercard action will stream exclusively in the U.S. on ESPN+.

The Gvozdyk fight was excellent. Gvozdyk was a great, and I think an underrated boxer. Beterbiev’s stoppage of him really showed the world how great he could be.

Bivol et son équipe ne sont pas fou, ils ont évité Beterbiev depuis le début pour que la carrière de l’excellent technicien de boxe qu’est Bivol puisse ramasser le plus de pognon possible avant d’aller se faire battre par Arthur. Comme Beterbiev il l’avait fait contre l’excellent Gvozdyk a fait mal à tous ses coups ou presque à Smith qui n’aura jamais ressenti autant de douleur dans un combat. Beterbiev est une machine, un automate parfaitement huilé qui ne fait pas beaucoup d’erreur et qui ne manque que rarement ses frappes précises et courtes qui ne laissent pas de chance à ses opposants. Beterbiev n’essaye pas d’épater la galerie avec un style, une grande gueule et des combines sophistiquées! Non! Il est là pour se battre et emprunte le chemin le plus sûr et le plus court. Je suis grand amateur de boxe ( le seul sport dont je suis fan depuis très jeune avec Mohamed Ali) et ce mec m’impressionne au plus haut point et seul l’âge aura raison de lui dans un ring de boxe un jour!
Canelo ne l’affrontera jamais sachant pertinemment que ce serait le combat le plus dangereux de sa carrière.
My son and I are going to QC to watch this fight live. Looking forward to watching Artur reach 20-0 but have tremendous respect for Smith as a very competent, dangerous opponent that hasn't talked a lot of BS. Respect to both men and pumped for Saturday.

People forget that Beterbiev was a great amateur. He was one of two people to knock down Usyk ever (amateur days.) Also many people had Beterbiev winning that fight but he was robbed. This dude is just a force. Sadly he is getting old but still rooting for him to beat Smith and then Bivol.

The good thing about smith is that he doesn’t telegraph his punches. His right hand just comes right off the shoulder… hard to guess 😴🥊

Having good power at LHW is not enough; it's also a matter of mental strength and toughness and this is where I see weakness in Smith, which was revealed in his Canelo fight. Beterbiev is Canelo on steroids. He will claim the center ring, put enormous pressure on Smith, will make him retreat to the ropes. Will Smith be able to go toe-to-toe with a descructive wrecking ball in Beterbiev? I doubt he will.
Arthur is an expert in fighting strategy in the ring, his intelligence in battle is an unattainable level..
He's a one dimensional big puncher like wilder who has no sweet science in his 🧠

I think at 6'3" Callum Smith was weight drained against Canelo. However at Lightheavyweight he should do better but Beterbiev is SO strong !! he just wears all his opponents down.

@@TC8787-yq7og Not necessarily. "Drained" implies weakened, however Smith was the owner of the belt and could meet the required weight for an hour and then rehydrate back to his natural weight and hence not be 'drained'.
The smith vs canelo fight was a huge anti climax, but smith was struggling with the weight. Also Canelos perfect tactics is what made it a non contest. He repeatedly hit smiths bicep with power punches and left him barely able to throw a jab. It’s not that he was overawed or didn’t want to fight. Saul just used his ring IQ and took his best weapon early in the fight.
@@scotthiggins112 it didn't help that Smith wasn't doing much other than defense in that fight and barely any retaliation for getting hit in the arm either. After a while it was evident what Canelo was doing which was smart but Smith didn't do much to stop it either.

those who attended beterbiev's fights know that his punches sound different than other fighters, it is like two guns, one light simple gun and an artillery heavy gun, doctors are always on high alert in his fights, and that's why u see his opponents get tested whether they have microhemmorhages in their brain, by having their eyes checked with in 2 to 3 rounds.
It reminds me of Inoue and how his punches just sound so much different than his opponents. Some guys are just born with that natural power.

There are 2 acceleration points in a thrown punch, the initial push from the core/shoulder then the 2nd arc of power as the arm reaches extention....
Berterbiev has mastered injecting all his power in to the 2nd part of the punch,
in a way we havent seen in a VERY long time...
hence it sounds like someone being hit with a lump hammer when he connects with seemly 'average' looking shots 😅

Fair play for hyping up the fight and I do think it’ll look competitive for awhile but the result seems obvious. Artur will eat a few shots; he’s content to do this to land his own work. Smith will get broken down, slowed with body shots and that piston jab then the inevitable ko will come late on, maybe the 10th rd. Smith lost badly to Canelo, seemingly overawed & afraid to exchange. His apparent confidence for this fight will be his undoing if he tries to stand & exchange. He’s never beaten a fighter close to Beterbiev’s level; their resume’s differ by quality of opponent. Artur may be 39 but he looks as good as ever. Bivol next 🥊

I think he is physically strong enough for crusierweight but it may slow him down too much and Opteia is super quick, hard hitting, with good footwork and reach adavantage.

That Yarde fight was so weird. The British had Yarde winning on the cards and the commentary there was saying the same. But everywhere else in the world, it was viewed as a comprehensive win for Beterbiev. I’m not sure what was going on in England.
He was fighting well but beterbiev was just better
Yarde was actually doing really well in the beginning…then the damage began to accumulate but he showed his heart because he’d get hurt and throw a bomb that would shake Arthur.

he wont be able to keep beterbiev off him for 12 rounds. gvozdyk tried it and failed miserably.... same with bivol will be no difference, u just cant keep a man like beterbiev off you for 12 rounds. the damage he does will break u down eventually and finish u in the 8-10th round.
and another point to add. beterbiev and bivol are the same height, how is he gonna hit beterbiev without getting hit back... i would have given bivol this fight cuz he does have insane skills but if he had like 5-8 inch reach advantage. but their reach legit almost the same, i cant see him winning against beterbiev. to beat someone like beterbiev u gotta be taller and STRONG as fk to not let him bully you and then u have a chance.
