Viggo and the rest of the cast are outstanding for choosing to use no stunt divers, knowing it was them the whole time really adds to the suspense.

    Incredible.
The turning points in my opinion are:
    - The young coach taught the kids to conserve their energy and oxygen consumption by meditation.
    - There was a local guy (I don't know who he was) who suggested the local rescue team to make a contact to Mr. Vern Unsworth whom is a cave explorer and lives there and happened to know the expert cave diving rescuers.
    - Person who came up with idea of anesthesia, and Dr. Harris and his buddy.
Thank you for all volunteering experts, officers, rangers, pump masters, geologist, local farmers and volunteers from the whole nation and from around the globe. Thank you the government of all countries involved.
I believe, with Mr. Howard, this feature will be a masterpiece.

I would add the Thai-American hydrologist who came up with the plan to divert water that would otherwise have been flowing into the cave

The film is a masterpiece. Some of the scenes are unbearably claustrophobic. How they managed to get them all out safely in reality was beyond belief, a modern miracle.

I kinda curios that when announce to produce the movie about this rescue. How to make it successful while everyone could know the final that all those kids survive and key details about rescuing mission without distortion. I watched this movie and Wow, Ron made it great!!! the intense feeling overwhelming to each character and pushing me on the chair to watch this until the end.
And as a Thai people, I would like to say thank you that you made the movie by respect with every volunteer. We, Thai peoples, only feel appreciation for every volunteer to help those kids, we knew that we couldn't do it alone without volunteer from many countries around the world. I remembered that each country sent the rescuers team after team to help us. I knew that by the movie , you couldn't make all the volunteer to be appear in the movie. But thanks that not making anyone look bad, they all came to help and we feel only appreciation. They are all heroes and gave us hope of world collaboration.

I had already watched the documentary and was blown away by it. So I was skeptikal about this movie. But watching it was a real experience. I got a very focused reflection of the facts I had gleaned from the doc, plus more relatable insight into the people involved. Ron Howard did an amazing job of recreating the whole feeling surrounding the rescue of the boys. Most of the scenes involving the cave looked exactly like what I remembered from the real place shown in the doc. I'm guessing that they must have filmed some of it at the actual location.I know the underwater scenes were shot in constructed cave sets in a tank, but the above water scenes looked exactly like the real place, with the geographical layout as well as the insane bustle of humanity of the Thai people who gathered at the site, hoping praying for the boys. Captured just as well was the overwhelming organized chaos and urgency of the rescue personnel from all over the world that descended on this place with the singular goal of saving those boys. Wonderful film. THe cast was fantastic across the board.

I grew up watching Ron Howard as an actor in in the Andy Griffith Show, The Music Man, Happy Days & American Graffiti. I love his movies - Apollo 13, A Beautiful Mind, The Da Vinci Code, Backdraft to name a few. He cares about telling a good story, getting the detail right, connecting with people - listening. Thanks to Ron Howard for 13 Lives that brings the beauty of the human condition to the forefront. 13 seems to be a lucky # for you.

Ron Howard is a lovely man who turns his craft into stories of such compassion.
And now I’m crying as I remember that news and how truly remarkable the rescue was…it was a rescue that was outstanding on so many levels.
I want to see it to honour the courage of Rick and Co and those 13 young men…but do I want to feel the emotional intensity of it all…I’m not sure. 🇳🇿🇳🇿🐑🐑NZ

James Webb space Telescope is considered man kinds greatest mechanical achievement by man. It had 300 single point failures. If any 1 of them failed the entire satellite would fail and not work. This rescue seemed to have several thousand single point failures where if any one of them didn't work then those kids weren't coming out. Truly a incredible event.

The untold story is the Brits Rick Stanton and John Volathen inititally found it too difficult and dangerous to penetrate into the cave and were about to give up when two other divers were called in, Ben Reymenants and Maksym Polejaka. Ben and 'Max' did ALL the ground work and lay of ropes through the first extremely difficult sections making the rescue possible and are barely mentioned. Ben was the first to say the kids would need to be brought out in full face masks and was ridiculed and shunted off to manage the O2 tank replenishment station. Both were recognized by The Thai Royal Navy and His Majesty The King to receive medal commendations.

I cannot imagine a more stressful situation to navigate for every person involved in this rescue. The Thai Seals needed the guidance and leadership of Ben and Max. They all did their job nobly. While it is unfortunate that each person involved in this rescue did not get the attention and honor they deserved, I know we are all grateful for their service. I am hopeful that we offer grace to them all. The end result was what everyone worked for.

I dont know why you keep saying its an untold story. They are literally mentioned in The Rescue and 13 lives. Andy they didn’t do ALL the initial work. The seals did a bunch. And Ben was part of the final rescue team.

@@larushka1 agree! Since watching this film, I’ve watched the Rescue, read Rick Stanton’s book, various documentaries, and the Brits have always given credit and recognised what Ben and the other divers did. They even said that they regretted giving up at one point. And agree that Ben didn’t lay the line the whole way….if he did then why didn’t he find the kids? Ben said so himself in “the Rescue” that continuing after T junction would be suicidal hence they had to stop. Also, if it wasn’t for the Brits saving those trapped adult men in the first few days, no one would even think about sedating the kids. Putting a mask won’t be enough. At the end of the day, people need to just recognise it was a collective local and international effort that saved the kids.

    • @The-0189
      @The-0189 2 роки тому

@@rhodarivera3148 Ben suggested the full face mask and was shunned away by the British. Secondly Ben didn't go pass the 2nd path to the T Junction cause he ran out of line and was 300 meters away from Pataya Beach. At that stage most of the hard work was done and therefore easier for John and Rick to complete the final 300 meters to the boys.

    1. WHY not establish what the inside of the caves looked like before the flooding? This is when the kids excitedly entered the cave when dry. I know they have flash light but still can show dark caves with movie lights! Then you juxtapose the divers taking the same route so we the viewers can understand
( taking a page fr Titanic showing the animation first and the real sinking after)
    2. Every interview the real divers kept saying water was muddy and silty. Zero visibility. I know this is a movie and need to see faces. But thru clear water?
How about SFX dept pumping in sediments to mix it up? Blur it up? I trusted the filmmakers to film this way until I saw 2 documentaries where the poor visibility was perfectly caputured. All on UA-cam
    3. How about filming the divers following them from behind to see their POV. Banging their heads against the roof of the cave.
    4. Never clearly saw giant machines pumping out water.. and they were everywhere! The paddy fields getting dumped on, it's always the same damn shot. Move the camera closer...Jesus
    5. The poor folks re routing the rain water in the high mountsins did HELPED stabilize the water level inside cave. SHOW THAT. Tie the story together Ron
    6. When divers met the kids the first time...it was DULL. ZERO. Something was missing here.
    7. How about the USA meteorologist reading a major monsoon descending on the mountains. Makes the divers argument to get the kids NOW ever so critical
    8. When the poor mothers see their kids first time in the observation, where was the freaking violin and rousing music you loved so much you used it over and over and over in Backdraft, Cocoon, Far and Away and Beautiful Mind.
Love you Ron, just a movie fan
