Don't worry! Our new Subway trains will be much better! ;] Search "MPM-10" or "Azur" on google. We will receive a prototype this Autumn and they will start being in service hopefully in February/March 2014! I've never been to Toronto but I do like the TTC's Rockets! I think that what they are lacking is color on the outside and maybe also some sort of shovel in the front of the cab cars (it's mostly for visuals but it could be useful during winter).
So weird not hearing screeching metal! I love Montreal, but I'm sorry, I've always thought their subway tune is ugly. The TTC one is amazingly good, but I'm sure if MTL were to hold an international competition, they can find an even better one!
when i first went to montreal at the age of 12, I thought the "Fanfare for the Common Man" sound was creepy the first few times I heard it. like a spaceship or something. but before long it became one of my favorite things about the metro
