As a Christian I believe in reflection but I’ve also found the way I make goals is to make lifelong goals and I do monthly goals that rarely change the goals each month but I reflect on them and keep working on them!!! I do the same thing with new year goals!!! I fast at the start of the year and reflect!!! I’m doing a salt fast and I crave more salty foods when I’m fasting from salt!!! I’ve not thought of a word for this year yet!!! I set homeschool goals in the beginning of the homeschool year!!! I’ve not framed my canvases just put them on the wall!!! I love that my work schedule gives time for breaks!!! We have 12 lunar months on the Jewish calendar apart from a leap year every 3 weeks but I finish setting goals on the Asian lunar new year!!! Even tho they are both lunar years they are different!!! I didn’t know that tho!!! My friends in Singapore follow the western year but celebrate lunar new year!!! We go word of the year at church!!! Living in a warm climate we don’t hibernate but live a slower pace of life!!! I still love the smarter method I learned in Singapore but I don’t write it down like that but I just think though them!!! I pace myself!!! As a Christian we agree with self care so idk where the thought of it’s selfish comes from!!! My self care is deep!!!
I feel like reflection is a big part of most religions. My mother-in-law is Japanese, and she celebrates the western New Year and not the Lunar New Year like my mom's family does (they are Chinese-Vietnamese.) And here in the U.S. there was a backlash in regards to self-care, and a lot of very conservative Christians (both men and women) were coming out saying that self-care was selfish. But I think it was just the media making it a bigger deal than it was and pitting people against each other.
I love how you've embraced surrender-it’s such a powerful mindset shift. Slowing down and releasing pressure can be transformative, no matter how we frame it. It’s amazing to hear how optimistic and grounded you feel. Wishing you continued peace and joy on this journey!
I feel like I have no time for it all 😢 it’s been a very long time since I have even done a full week of homeschool lessons. Where do you fit all the things? ❤ I would love to take it easy without the guilt of feeling like I’m not doing enough.
Oh, I’ve totally been there-it’s such a tough feeling, and I just want to say you’re not alone. ❤ Homeschooling and trying to juggle everything else can feel like a lot. Some weeks (or months!) it’s just impossible to get to everything, and that’s okay. Something that’s helped me is letting go of the idea that we have to do it all. Homeschooling doesn’t have to look like a full schedule or ticking off every box. Honestly, some of the best learning happens in the little moments-reading together, playing games, having meaningful conversations, or even exploring interests naturally as they come up. And that guilt? Ugh, it’s so hard to shake, but I promise you’re doing more than enough just by being there for your kids. Kids don’t need perfection-they need connection. ❤ Maybe try easing into a looser rhythm instead of worrying about fitting everything in. Focus on the things that really matter to you and your family, and let the rest go. (Trust me, after you get over the guilt & anxiety hump, it feels so freeing!) You’ve got this, and I’m cheering you on. And seriously, if you ever need someone to vent to, I’m here! ❤😊
@@cozy_notesthank you so much!! I truly truly appreciate your response! So happy to know I’m not alone. ❤ definitely hoping to enjoy this extended break and start easing into things a little at a time! I got caught up in a huge curriculum dive and haven’t even chosen yet 😆 Definitely taking it a day at a time!

Omg same. God told me to slow down and be consistent. Pressure is off. It’s in His hands! Ive never been more optimistic. Surrender feels amazing.
