There was a band back in 1985 called Magellan consisting of brothers Trent and Joel Wayne Gardner, both of which are deceased since 2016 but they were very instrumental in the re-birth of Prog rock in the 1990's. One band that rose with them are these guys, Dream Theater and have worked together on several project albums. It's been a while since I've seen this version of Dream Theater and a treat at that. I miss Derek Sherinian on keyboard but Jordan Rudess is superb in his own right. I'm glad you enjoyed this "sound painting" experience and I hope you engage in other masterful works by these men. So, so much to dissect in just one take huh? lol..........and they only just get better!
Illumination Theory from Breaking the Fourth Wall by Dream Theater is another legendary epic!!

Images and words is one of those albums that became an immediate classic, basically the change up on vocalist and James Le Brie replacing Charlie Dominici, and it's been one classic after another. John Petrucci and John Myung are two of the world's greats guitarist and bassist ever, Dream Theater never fails to amaze. Many changes on drums and keyboards has been an issue but always manages to find some amazing talent

Porcupine Tree is ok but not on Dream Theater's level. Please react to A Change of Seasons, Count of Tuscany, and Stream of Consciousness just to name a few great songs from Dream Theater.

Ha! You wish. Porcupine Tree is good but no where near Dream Theater's musical ability.
There are two things I don't like about DT: The fact that John Myung is a great bassist but you can never distinguish his bass. And, sorry to say, I hate James LaBrie's voice. 🙈 But they're a great band anyway! 🤘🏻
