I found this video excellent for getting the bulbs out .. my problem now is finding out where I can get replacement bulbs in New Zealand, or can I order overseas? 350w 230v 1 x 500L; 4 x 600L
Hi Liz, I am glad you found the video useful. Please feel free to email me and I will send you a specification sheet for the tubes we have, these may fit out alternatively we could custom make then. We can certainly ship to NZ. Allan Service@customsaunas.com.au
I have dynamic sauna it has a reset switch in the power box the reset button is real lose how can I test it to see if that is my problem that I have with no power
Hi, No, a small spark or possibly a hot spot is not normal in a Ceramic Infrared Tube. This could reflect a issue with the filament inside the tube, either bunching of the coil or higher resistance due to corrosion. I would hope that the issue would only cause the tube to fail and nothing further, but keep a careful eye on it, and consider changing as soon as possible. send any photos if you would like further assistance. service@customsaunas.com.au
If the colour of the tube is black and there is no damage, at least not visible from outside. The wiring seems also to be okay. does this mean that the tube could be broken internally? What is the standard colour of the tube? Thanks again
Hi Naam, Thanks, you're very welcome. The tube colour can be black or white, though I prefer black. Yes the filament inside the tube can be corroded and break inside the tube. The best way to test would be if the tube were removed and a resistance test performed if you get an open circuit, then the tube is dead. If you have any follow up questions feel free to email service@customsaunas.com.au Regards Allan
Hi Lynda, if they look like the tubes in this video then they're FAR. Feel free to send a few photos to me and I will confirm. Service@customsaunas.com.au Allan
Hello Allan, I have a Royal sauna and 2 of the elements are not working with cable black to the end where it attaches to the element. I am in the USA and Royal sauna is not existing any more.. I do not have any paperwork for the sauna and when we took the element out we cannot see what kind or voltage is needed. I hate to call a expert they are very costly here. Any suggestions? Thank you!
Hi Sandra, the best way to check the voltage would be to look at the plug and the type of circuit it is plugged into. Most smaller units like the one you have will be 120v and plugged into a regular receptical. The wattages are usually the same depending where they are in the sauna, behind user 350w, under bench 300w. We can discuss futher via email to get your sauna working like new again.
The EP code is a missing or failed Thermostat Probe. Can you send a couple of photos of the unit, including the controller? Service@customsaunas.com.au
Is there a way to test the elements? Two of the connectors to the power supply make the circuit breakers pop after a few minutes. Great post BTW, I couldn't find anyone to tackle it in Austin, TX now I'm doing it myself. Thanks!
Hi Alex, yes, the best way to test the tube is to use a Multi-Meter with the Ohms (resistance) setting, with a probe on each end there should be a reading of between 90-150ohms depending on the wattage. if the tube is broken inside you will get an OL (open) reading. please see our blog post on testing and selecting your ceramic tube. infraredsaunarepairs.com.au/blog/selecting-the-right-ceramic-infrared-sauna-tube-for-your-sauna2020
What kind of internal cable would you use to replace if loose wires had caused burning at the ends? Just standard v75 or v90 with thermo sheath near the terminals?
Hi Daniel, Because of the temperatures the tube can get to I would recommend a 250c + cable, like a fiber glass sheathed silicon cable. Where are you located? I've got lots of decent length off-cutts
Hi Francisco, so long as the wires are still attached to the failed tube it is safe to use. If the cables are off, either removed or broken, they can cause a dead short to earth. This will hopefully cause the Breaker to trip so you won't be hurt, but not worth risking. Have you removed the old tube?
Hi Sarah, depending on the size and Voltage we have tubes available that we can send to Canada. feel free to email us some more details, including a picture of the saunas wall plug, this will tell us the voltage. Service@customsaunas.com.au
Hi, I would first check the control system, it sounds like one of the relays might have failed. There is a control box in the ceiling, having an electrician check these outputs you can check if one relay no longer switches on. there is also a second video on the channel that shows this process on a unit with a single relay
Hi Jeff, have you got the ability to check one of the existing tubes that are still working? You can perform a resistance test to determine the wattage. Feel free to email for more info. Service@customsaunas.com.au
Well I took it apart and all that was in it was ain’t spring of thin wire which was connected to both ends of the tube. One end of the wire had broken about 10mm from the end so I stretched it to the end and reconnected it to the end of the tube and put it back in the sauna and now it is working perfectly again .🙏👍
Hi Steven, It is certainly possible to replace these with on of our 0 emf Carbon heaters, feel free to reach out via email and we can discuss, service@customsaunas.com.au
Hi K Warnock, it would depend on who you're buying then from but as a guide I would measure from the very tip to tip. There's a graphic showing the dimensions on my online store here, infraredsaunarepairs.com.au/infrared-sauna-parts/ceramic-heating-tubes Let me know if you have any other questions Allan Service@customsaunas.com.au
Hi Brian, these will begin to diminish in performance over a roughly 10year period, so the sauna may feel like it's not heating as well. Normally people might wait until failure before replacing, as they may not notice but if you were looking to improve the performance you could consider changing them out before then. Alternatively I also recommend with some underperforming saunas an additional heater above the door on a 45°deg angle facing down, this tends to pick up the slack and create a better surrounding heat. If you have any further questions feel free to reach out via Email Service@customsaunas.com.au Allan
