I'm sure it'll turn out great! It's been one of the most useful features of the van and really adds a bunch of extra space for cooking. Cheers!

Cool, straightforward video without any unnecessary verbiage, great job. If I understand correctly, the Vauxhall (Opel) Combo Life's second row of seats is not designed to be removed (like, for example, in a VW Caddy) - did it take you long to take them out, and do you think it would be feasible to do this on an occasional basis - for example, if gong away for a brief holiday - and then re-install them afterwards?

Really appreciate your comment David! It's been a while since we've done a talking video. Maybe we should try one again soon when we get our Dacia Duster which we hope to put a platform in too!
Our rear passenger seats are still in the vehicle and to be honest, we never considered taking them out. I'm not sure if it would be easy or not (we are not good with cars, woodwork, etc).
For our use, there wasn't a reason to remove them. We have enough storage space for 2-3 days worth of food, several weeks of clothing, bedding like pillows and down blanket, and tons of rock climbing gear. We do not have a second battery, heating, refridgerator, potty, or portable shower. Maybe removing the seats would be helpful if you'd like more creature comforts.
The major hassle we have is certainly storing food in warm months. We typically go climbing 2 days and buy meats or fresh goods to cook immediately when we take rest days. The shower is solved with water bottles or a trip to camp grounds/local pools. It stays pretty warm inside even in winter, but we do bring feather sleeping bags in case temps drop alot. All in all, we are pleased!

@@AlexTighe thanks for the quick reply! That's interesting _ I couldn't tell from the side view through the open door that the bed frame was propped up on the folded seats (I thought the struts were resting on the floor). I was thinking of trying a cheap and easy camping/sleeping arrangement (just placing a blow-up mattress on the floor/folded seats), but the folded seats slope upwards, so not sure how comfortable that would be.
I'm planning to buy a Vauxhall Combo Life in the new year. I was hoping to get a Berlingo, but they rarely come with petrol engine/auto gearbox in the UK. Combo Life looks a great option, though.
Although I'm not really into climbing, I took a look at your channel videos and it looks like you were a gymnast at Temple. I studied and taught in the US for 16 years, and my masters level exercise physiology teacher (Vince Paolone) studied at Temple. I think his brother (Al Paolone, maybe?) actually taught ex phys at Temple.

@@davidrowe8747 No problem! Happy to help out if I can.
We once slept in the back of a Subaru Forester with just yoga mats over the sloping seats (it was pouring rain and our tent leaked). It wasn't the most comfortable experience to say the least. I bet you could probably come up with a way to reduce the slope though.
I know they are starting to phase out some of the boxey style vans in diesel to bring in hybrid or electric versions. Hopefully you can score a nice one!
The last name Paolone actually sounds familiar. What a small world! Cheers from the Pyrenees!

Thanks! And great question. Usually, we wrap them up in large plastic tarps and simply place them next to or on top of the van. We do that even in good weather just in case of morning humidity (and hoping there would be lots of noise if someone tried to steal them).

We love our Mini Camper. Especially the freedom and flexibility it gives us to drive as an every day car while also getting us up some pretty rough unpaved roads to rock climbing spots. I'm sure your Toyota camper will turn out great!

Awesome! We love our little Opel Combo. Nice & cozy for two people...and perfect for every day driving too! Thanks for your comment.
We purchased the window covers from the small company near Barcelona that did our bed frame. They have them available for sale on their website: www.camperizatetodoen1.com/tienda/

Hey! Thanks for the comment and sorry it took a moment to get back to you! A small family owned business did our kit and helped us get the covers from the wholesaler the work with. Here's their website where they sell them (www.camperizatetodoen1.com/en/). If you're based in Europe, they ship to a handful of the countries and the UK.

Hi! Thanks for your comment! We are still in love with our mini camper. We usually use the table outside of the vehicle with the free standing base or hanging off the trunk! We purchased the kit from a small company based just outside of Barcelona called Todo en 1. Here's a link to their website:

    How many long the bed?

    • @AlexTighe
      @AlexTighe  Рік тому

It's 190cm long with ample room for two people. I'm not sure about it's width, but it should be similar to our Double or Queen sized bed at home.
