I'm not going to say that Angelina has NEVER done multiple takes on a song, as there are a couple of them out there. However, .....she is known to do virtually every recording in one take. When she covered "Back to Black" by Amy Winehouse, what you hear in the video is take #2. Angelina didn't like the first take so they did one more. And that's what you hear, start to finish. A single take. She has in the past worked with Stargate Productions, who have worked with some huge talents in the music business. Their words, not mine: "There's maybe a handful of singers out there who can take a song, sing it front to back one time and it sounds amazing. Among the artists we've worked with, #1, Beyonce..#2, Sam Smith.. #3, Angelina Jordan. It is so rare...it is such a gift..." When you see Angelina sitting at home in the U.S. with her guitarist, Ivan Mendez, knocking out songs that he probably didn't even know until 15 minutes earlier, she breezes through an incredible vocal performance, such that even HE can't believe what he's hearing. He himself said that IF they needed to do another take, it was because he screwed up, not her. I totally get where you're coming from, because it's been SOP for quite a while (especially in the digital era) to stitch together the best takes of different sections of songs, and even different lines, in order to get the best sounding performance for the record. No need with the Barefoot Princess. She works like Frank Sinatra. One take, Done. Peace to you and yours, my friend!! Blessings from Wisconsin.

You are quite right about her looking at her music layed out on the floor.
I find it intreging watching her when she has her music on a stand, in concert.
Most of it is music, hand written on pieces of paper, held with little sprung loaded wooden pegs. Is mostly notes I think.
Her band are using tablets, and flicking electronic pages lol. Some of the band could be more than 35 years older than AJ.
The wind blows and catch's her paper notes and sends some of them flying. She just carries on singing doesn't even bother her.

"Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to tonight's radio broadcast of 'Music To Sooth You With'! Tonight we're going to start things off with a song from yesteryear entitled 'Cry Me A River' made popular by Julie London way back in the 50's. The artist you will be listening to does a wonderful rendition of the song and I'm sure you will enjoy it. After the song I will do a short interview with her, one I believe you will absolutely enjoy. So, here she is, Miss Angelina Jordan singing 'Cry Me A River' !!!!!!! "

Angelina is such a remarkable person, not just because she sings like a goddess of music (if there is such a thing...well there is now). Any visit with her is a very special treat, replacing all that nasty rhetoric that seems so abundant in the media of late, with her warm tones from old classics. She rejuvenates my every day and I truly feel blessed every time I get to hear her lovely voice. She keeps me digging for new and different ways to express my love and appreciation.

New subscriber! You're absolutely right. Angelina is at her most impressive in live performances. No autotune. No dancers. No strobe lights. Just a girl with a microphone singing and touching the hearts and souls of everyone who hears. I even love hearing the little perfect imperfections as she performs. It reminds me that she really is human after all and that the goodness that I hear is real. There are several recordings of her performing this song. Each performance is slightly different, and all of them are wonderful.

Live is the place that either shines or not, especially in the old analog days, now they can do auto tune during the higher end shows.
What impresses me is her tictoc's just singing into phone mic, mind-blowing pure magic.
I've been waiting for this voice for a long long time
As I see it she became a vocal virtuoso by the age 10, I say that because she has complete control of all the vocal tools she possesses; honestly the only thing I haven't heard her do Mongolian throat singing and opera, LOL but that doesn't mean she can't either, so we will see what happens over the next nine years or so either way it's going to be a fantastic journey.

What a beautiful reaction, Boudy. I love her version of the song. Every time she interprets a song by stripping it in her own way, she seems to simultaneously increase the level of understanding of the lyrics and amplify their expressive power. Angelina's musical vision transcends the ordinary and she always manages to give a different interpretative reading, she really has a musical knowledge and analytical ability that is beyond my understanding, also considering her age. Her phrasing, underpinned by her wonderful use of breath and her jazzy vision, always fascinates me and gives me chills every time, despite having listened to it hundreds of times. 💛🧡❤

Julie London's rendition is considered 'The Gold Standard' for this song and
Angelina stays 'spot on' with Julie's beautiful presentation. Julie was also a
true jazz singer and beautiful to look at as well.

Mery Zamani, Angelinas grandmother, is born in 1961. "Cry me a river" was written in 1953.
    So, there you go.
But Angelina has sung older songs than this one.

I used to think that Julie London did the best version of this song in the late 1950s, but AJ has it locked down. The Brass is also awesome.

Around this time Angelina performed a totally different arrangement of this song at another concert, accompanied by a brass band. It is on my Angelina Top Ten which is saying a lot. It is worthy of a reaction on its own.ua-cam.com/video/ViNgjfrc1dQ/v-deo.html

The complexity and "looseness" of singing jaz just boggles my mind. Angelina was amazing in this. She is truely an
amazing jaz singer...AT AGE 11!!! Absolutely love this. I only wish the audio had been a whole lot better!!

You're going to end up doing almost every song from this concert. If I could attend one of her concerts from this period, it would be this one. She opens with "Lovin' You" which is her PG version of Etta James "I Just Want to Make Love to You", with all the fire of "Spell". It also has "Diamonds Are Forever" and more!

It’s from quite a concert and I guess she rests her voice a bit while maneuvering this song in a comprehensive set. No complaints.

Asalaamu Alaikum, Habibi. 🥰 This was Good....BUT, She does a MUCH BETTER Version of this at about age 15....more up-tempo and with that sassy growl and rasp in her voice....Just Attitude, which she has got Plenty Of!!!!💖💖💖💖👍

Please consider reacting to Allison Young who just came off a tour with Postmodern Jukebox. Though much different than AJ, she also has a voice reminiscent of an earlier era. She has a smile in her voice like Doris Day. Of her four PMJ songs, HAPPIER would be a lot of fun. Also, FEVER or Stardust accompanied by Josh Turner on guitar. Thanks.

This whole thing- everyone viewing Angelina Jordan on utube, has to be the only time an amazing singer, equivalent (at least) to say the diva level of Ella Fitzgerald /Billie Holiday.., has been documented thoroughly. She could well be the greatest singer ever, whatever that really means. Little doubt though, she has already attained the same level as the truly top artists of contemporary history.

@@ArabManReactsI'll be 60 very soon. Time flies by the year when you hit 40. It's full Gallup with no reigns to slow it down. But we have the excitement of getting a ticket to hear Angelina Jordan or Diana Ankudinova in our future. It would be like seeing Ella or Nina live. A generational voice that changes culture itself.
I saw Count Basie live once and you could feel the history of jazz onstage in his presence.
I think Angelina is doing that too. Like an apprentice steeped deeply in a lifetime dedication. She brings the history of the great American Song book with her. It's reassuring that she will take it to generations we will never see. That's an incredible gift to culture.
