I would totally use this for just about the same application as in this this video. But I will say this. STOP BEING SO HARD ON YOUR VOCALS!!! Dude. You killed it. Seriously. Sure I could hear the correction moments. But you should totally be kinder to yourself.
I cannot believe that you downplayed your voice ! It is So very Wonderful!, Can we assume it is the mic that makes your voice sound so Great? Or is it because you Have Such A great tone in your voice that the mic picks it up Wonderfully ;)
We have 2 MA-201 fets ... I support your thoughts about it having a classic, deep, detailed sound. It's a pro mic. It's just it's own thing. It doesn't seem like it's close to something else. It's crazy that the likes of David Royer inspects and signs a card for every Mic that comes out of their shop. Can't say enough about them. Thanks for bringing to light the recording possibilities of the 201! Always appreciate your graceful approach to freely sharing info. Much appreciated. Ron Flack, Canton Ohio
You're very kind! The song was written by Gary Brooker Keith Reid Matthew Fisher of Procal Harum, based on Johann Sebastian Bach's “Sleepers, Wake!” and “Air on the G String”.
Wow, what a great sounding mic! Lovely arrangement and performance, I don't think I've ever heard you play/sing in a full arrangement before. Well done, really nice surprise Warren!
Not sure why you self deprecate your talents (singing voice, guitar and drum skill etc). You always seem to pull together a solid performance a lot of people could only hope to achieve. Kudos. 👍
Such a great mic. Recently sold mine to get the Telefunken CU-29. The 201Fet may be a future repurchase for me though, lovely Fet mic, and one of my favorite mics to date as a drum overhead.
So glad you are reviewing some Mojave stuff. I own two 201 FETs and they’re awesome. I love using them as overheads or one as an external kick drum mic. I also own a 200 tube version and several years ago sent it back to be serviced by Mojave before a big session. At some point I got a call from Mojave and actually talked to David Royer himself who was working on my mic. Don’t know if that’s typical or not but I love small companies that are accessible and take care to make sure their products are the best. Thanks Warren!
Great review. I picked up the 201fet two years ago and use it for hip-hop vocals. The sound is warm and amazing...and the jensen transformers have a way of really smoothing out any mid-rangy or harsh frequencies. Highly recommended.
What a treat Warren! I love this style of baroque music blend from this time period. Great song and wonderful cover of this. I'd love to mix it and add some strings and perhaps a mellotron....
Don’t ever say you’re not a singer Warren... you’d put a lot to shame! That was a beautiful heartfelt vocal dripping with tone! Great version of the song! 😎👍
Glad you’ve gotten to spend some time with Mojave. I’ve gone through a few condensers but keep coming back to the Mojave stuff. I’ve got the 201, 301, and the gorgeous 1000 in my locker now. Great company!
You've got quite a nice voice, really. Excellent demo of the mic! "Affordable," though, is relative - this mic sounds great, but it costs more than all the mics in my collection combined! Maybe someday...
There's nothing wrong with your voice. It has potential and works just fine on this soft, acoustic version of "A whiter shade of pale"! :-) Thanks for the work you do! Take care. :-)
Man, don’t know why you rag on your voice, I was pleasantly surprised just because your guitar is so good and bam, vocals were great! I came here for the mic check. Mic sounded good too. Thanks, great job! I’m between this and the 200 tube. I appreciate it.✊🏼✨
Great sounding microphone. Awesome song selection. I never really thought about Mojave microphones but this showcase is very convincing. Thank you for the demonstration, Warren.
So I've never commented on a UA-cam video, but..... damn Warren. I've watched all your "one sing one mic" videos and can say this mic definitely flatters your vocal tone. What a song at that! Anyways, just wanted to say thank you for all of these videos. When I'm researching a purchase I check your channel first to see if you've reviewed it
This is a great sounding mic. I like it a lot. Personally, I prefer the MA300 & MA1000 still; but this is nothing to sneeze at. Mojave, in my opinion, produces the absolute best mics on the market at their price points. Aside from maybe Blue and the SM57, no other company compares
Always love your teaching and playing. You have a wonderful voice also. Would love to hear you sing more often! Thanks again for the hard work you put in. I have learned so much from you.
A very adaptable mic which can obviously be used in a variety of situations. Nice playing by the way,! as always, I enjoyed your VLOG.Many thanks for your work and positive contributions toward music and the recording of it.
Thankyou so much for doing these things for us especially during these times I have been revisiting alot of my previous recording sessions and with your helpful tips i have been remixing them .You are the Man ..
Great job on the cover of that iconic song -- your singing/voice worked really well for that track. Too bad about that YooToob distortion,...I could hear it throughout on your vocal. I'm close to pulling the trigger on a used Mojave 301fet.
Great video, great voice. I so want that mic. :) Seriously, joining the PlaP academy is the best thing I've done, ever. Thank you, Warren. I find myself inspired by every video. There's just not enough hours in a day. :D
Yes! I see a new career coming for you. It was really fun and mix/master and really like the sound on the microphone.👌 As you said, it fit your voice like the hand in the glove (Like I am an expert🤔)!
Downloaded the multitracks, the mike and your playing/singing sound great, very warm. and a nice feel. I hope you don't mind that I take a step at the vocals as well, not that I can do better but because I really like to sing this song , it is one of those songs that I really feel. And As always thanks for the great content :-)
@@Producelikeapro I've had a lot of fun mixing and doing a vocal on this song, it is so well recorded and played that it was a absolute joy. If you would like me to I can send you a mix and the vocal track separate? Maybe you can use it for a mixing lesson on what not to do (I hope you like it of course but I'm not a pro) or a pitch correction lesson ( some things are not completely in key but I left it that way because I'm a human ;-) ) Again thanks for allowing me to do a vocal, it was a lot of fun :-)
I've been super curious to hear this mic! I've seen a bunch of high profile live mixers using them on overheads, so I've been super tempted to get a pair for that myself! maybe I'll win one, and only have to buy one ;)
What are you talking about being a bad singer? Your voice suits this song rather well. Good performance, Sir. It's gonna be fun to blend. I honestly have no clue how to mix ;)
Don't know if anyone has said this, Warren, but in that register, you sound like Brian May, and, if I hadn't known it was you, I'd have put my mortgage on it that it was Brian. Love the take on the song, also.

Hi Warren! Is there a video in your channel about how to use busses? I've been looking but didn't see anything :( Thanks for all the tutorials by the way, I've spent hours checking out your content!
What would you record with this mic?
A dragon eating giraffe
If I was going to put a cover together like you did in this video, I might try Van Morrison's "Here Comes the Night".
