Wink never should’ve left the show. If he had stayed, TTD likely would’ve stayed on the air much longer than it did. Never liked Jim Caldwell and I think that host change killed the show in 1986.
They should have gotten Peter tomarken, tom Kennedy, jim peck, Richard Dawson, gene Rayburn or bill Rafferty to replace wink Martindale on TTD season 8
Actually, both TTD and TJW were struggling in the ratings by then, so I don't think the change in hosts made a difference...it also didn't help that besides returning favorites WoF/J!/LMaD, there was a glut of new syndicated game shows for the 85-86 season (The $100K Pyramid, Headline Chasers, Break the Bank, Catch Phrase, The New Newlywed Game and The Nighttime Price is Right).
@@ChuckD79 The main reason TTD and TJW went down in the ratings is because Wheel and Jeopardy stole their ratings from them. IF Wheel and Jeopardy never came on, TTD and TJW would've lasted longer to the end of the 80's or early 90's. I'm waiting for Wheel and Jeopardy to come to an end.
