Totally just switched to youtube by a random thought flitting through my head about this! SEW excited!! I just screamed when i saw this, problem is it's nearly 1am in the UK, my neighbours hate you gertie!! BUTi LOVE YOU!!!!!
Very thorough instructions. Vastly better than anything else on UA-cam - the other are truly miserable. I'm trying to do this in leather. The eyeshadow and lashes were not necessary but held my attention.
I can't tell you how happy I am to find this today! I have been looking for *years* for a good garrison cap pattern - literally years. I found the patterns drawn out but no comprehensible instructions. This pattern and the video are *just* what I needed. Thank you so much!
Hello, nice . I need such a hat for my Sailordress. I done the Download and printed Out.Yes! Gerti i Love your "Camp Gerti" I am Camper too. And me and my husband Love the 50's Style. In clothers and furtintures. Music an jiving, strollen. On Camping i wear Casual closes. And WE travel in an old VW T4. Thx for youre inspired videos and Brooks. Nice to know you. Greetings from Hamburg Germany 🥂🍾 Susanne
Я очарована вами и всем, что вы шьёте! Очень интересные видео! Желаю процветания вашему каналу! Где можно купить такую подушечку на руку для булавок? Спасибо!
I just printed out the pattern & the instructions online, love the format you used & the little graphic of Hattie stole my heart. Too cute!! Also Bernice (your hat mannequin) is very dapper and her eyeliner is stunning! Whoever sculpted her and did her doll makeup is a very talented artist. Hugs-Everyone have a Magical Day
Hi Gertie! Is there a reason that you don't use the extension piece to expand the size of the bed on your machine? I only take it off if I am sewing a sleeve or cuff, but I have seen multiple sewists who don't use it. Curious if there is a reason.
Hi! For some reason I just never got used to using it on this machine-it’s a bit awkward to take on and off. I’ve just found I prefer it this way on the Bernina, but my Juki has a more traditional extension and I always use that one!
I printed out the pattern and measured the test square and it's exactly 1/16th short. I double checked my printer settings and it's set to 100% with no other changes. Because this is a small project with small seam allowances, I'm wondering if this is something that I should try and fix? Or would it be okay? Did anyone else have this problem?
As I am a fighter-pilot-wannabe I'm in the process of creating my personal aviator style outfit. I didn't want to buy a surplus garrison cap to use for my outfit but I wanted to create something brand new that is just similar to the real original thing, not actually the real thing. This will help me TONS to achieve this =) thank you
Would this work just as well if instead of doing the lining understitching through6 layers at some points, if you just moved the understitching up above the seam that the band is in? If the band is tall enough it should hide that stitching as well, and the piping understotching should hold the band in place. Right? 🤔 Just would worry about putting that many thick layers together, esp if you hit piping overlap and break needle😬😬
I just made 2 of these out of (too) thick felt for my daughter's school theater class. I added some silver braid and now 2 flight attendants are ready for the show. Thanks from Germany!
Hi! You shouldn't have been able to see the video yet since it was unlisted--so weird! The official video premiere is tomorrow (3/11) at 5:30 pm and the hat pattern will be available around that time.
Hey there, I do a little tech support for Charm. I've checked the download link and was able to download the entire document. Maybe there was some sort of connection glitch when you were trying? Have you tried since?
Man i feel like we have to stop using the word vintage these days and just go with specific decades now. People are calling stuff from the eighties vintage now, i don't know when i got old enough for my childhood years to be known as vintage...
Wore one of these in the Women's Army Corp (WAC) 1967-1970.

It would have been noce to see ypu cut the pattern out. I’m new to sewing so I don’t know what she means by the grainline direction.
Oh! You luck people who get to watch live! I have to go to work. At least I have something to look forward to this evening. Happy Glamping everyone 💞

The pink cape/coat that went over the dress, is that available on patreon? If so, I'll join in a heartbeat.
Yes the cape is one of our patreon patterns charmpatterns.com/charm-scout-capelet/
This is so amazing!! Is there a way you could make this out of pleather or metallic synthetic fabric?
Underrated sewing tutorial
Saved me from having to hot glue some foam and fabric to make a hat. Thank god!! I prefer sewing any day

If you need to make your own piping, how wide would the bias tape be? And how thick is the recommended cord?
cord no larger than 1/8"; cut the bias about 1 3/8th".
Bonjour je veux savoir la dimension de chaque coup svp
Can you please do a video on the pattern drafting

I agree on a small project like this you'll be fine sewing the pattern as is.

I prefer the green hat on the opening
It’s a beret I think.
@@bethtorres5361 Yes I think so 😊

Hi! Did I miss the posted tutorial for the dress?
The dress tutorial is on our Patreon feed. You do need to be a Patreon subscriber to view it. www.patreon.com/posts/42217944
No pattern or instructions☹️
The link to the pattern and instructions are in the video description.
Link takes me to you CharmPatterns page, when I click on the free button I only get pics of hat
You just need to scroll down a bit farther-there’s a pink rectangle that says “download pattern instructions with pattern pieces”
@@GertiesWorld Got it! Thank you so much.
