    And that's just the chancel organ. Can't wait to hear the gallery organ in '24.

    In my opinion, this is a very 'French' performance.The many dramatic moments that occur during the course of the work are not lost on Mr. Karosi, who handles them with supple rhythmic flexibility. His performance illuminates the structure of the work so that what he does rhythmically makes sense. I applaud him on what I think is one of the best performances of this stunning tour de force on UA-cam. Amazing!

    That is a very beefy organ for only 21 stops and very French in its timbre, could have almost fooled me that it was a Cavaillé-Coll. When I last visited Montréal I got to go visit Juget-Sinclair's workshop. They were building their Opus 48 at the time. It was cathartic to see a small team of people pour their heart and souls into these showpiece instruments.

      The pedal Trombone gives it away as not-cavaille-coll:)

    • @mjsettles
      @mjsettles Рік тому +1

      @@johnsantrizos7638 I thought the same thing, the trombone seems to clash with the manual reeds, especially in its lowest octave. You can really hear the difference at 1:40 when he transitions from keyboard to pedal. Very wooden and German sounding. But it seems to be a better balance for the purpose of accompanying a choir from the front of the room; I would imagine a Cavaille-Coll Bombarde would completely overpower tenor and bass voices with this kind of instrument.

      About seven years ago, I got the opportunity to play a wonderful Juget-Sinclair in St. Louis, MO. My impression was that I was playing a much larger instrument than the relatively modest, two-manual instrument it truly was. These organs are so successful because they are a wonderful blend of artistry and engineering. The best organs have a near-perfect balance of both traits. The two other J-S’s I’ve played have both been continuo instruments. Though they invoked no grand illusion of size, they were nonetheless voiced so sweetly and expertly that playing them was a distinctly pleasurable experience! One could go many hours without being fatigued.

    A genuine virtuoso piece of music, played with (seemingly!) effortless ease by one of this generation's masters of the organ. Thank you Balint; I've heard this piece so many times yet this was the first opportunity I had to appreciate just how complex the pedal line is!

    A most enjoyable performance Balint. Thank you. Demonstrates how size shouldn't be what determines how good a pipe organ is. Quality of design, construction and voicing should be paramount. In this case the acoustic obviously helps. Too often the question is asked "How many stops" or the statement is made "If only it had such and such a stop".

    I can't get over how great the Widor sounds on that relatively modest instrument. Yeah, you miss the 32' bombarde on the last few bars... Yeah, the tutti doesn't quite hit the mark... but the sound is fundamentally there. So, what a great choice of music to showcase its abilities!
    I'm so used to you playing Bach and other Germanic repertoire that, no offense intended, it never occurred to me to wonder how you'd interpret French symphonic. The answer is, of course, brilliantly.

    Super expressive and technically executed well with the pillar of your Baroque 'comfort zone' mastery. AND, you hold space for Romantic lyricism that is beautifully colored by the dynamics (~6 min). Are you able to share your stop selection for this piece?

      Thank you! I usually don’t post registration for pieces that have more or less specific registration instructions by the composer. I was following Widor’s instructions, saved the mixtures to the very end. Also when he requested three manuals, I was pretending the first manual was the positive without the Montre 8’ and added it for the G.O. Sections.

    • @StoreeDenson
      @StoreeDenson Рік тому

      The organ does not have a 32ft Bombarde nor Flue, but in the near future Juget Sinclair will be constructing a larger organ in the gallery where the former Moller organ was.
