    Hello Friends,
On this episode I had a surprise nice day when the weather was forecasted to be howling! I took full advantage of it (which was good because the next three days were all storms) and headed down to Mansion House Bay to explore the famous historic mansion and its grounds. For a modest fee I got to explore this beautiful Mansion.
Some info from online about the Mansion:
"Mansion House on Kawau Island was originally the residence for the mine superintendent on the island. In 1862 the island and home were purchased by Sir George Grey, one of New Zealand’s most influential and controversial political figures.
Kawau Island was purchased by Sir George Grey at the time he was serving his second term as Governor.
Grey had a keen interest in the natural sciences and in horticulture, and was an enthusiastic collector of plants and animals from around the world. Between 1862 and 1888 he spent a fortune developing Kawau as his island home, planting hundreds of different plant species and introducing many exotic and native animals including wallabies, kookaburras, weka, peacocks, zebras and monkeys.
Sir George Grey enlarged and remodelled the former residence of the mine superintendent, which was built between 1845 and 1847 as his Kawau home. Sir Frederick Thatcher (architect, cleric, and Grey’s private secretary) was responsible for the design.
Known today as Mansion House, it has been in public ownership since 1967 and was extensively restored to its former appearance in 1977-80 after many years of neglect. It has been furnished with a valuable collection of antique furnishings largely donated or loaned to DOC, and is open to the public."
After my tour I enjoyed some lunch and went for a hike and explored the ruins of the former copper mine.

Amazed at the confidence you have now. Compared to when you first set off for Hawaii. Both in your sailing abilities and comfort with your camera. It has been a pleasure to watch.

Oh very cool James, the rewards of being daring enough to sail around the world, thanks for taking us along on your journey. The reason they made these high towers is they were rated in WATTS of power based on how high they were. It creates a massive vacuum as the heat goes up, which is necessary to get the fire hot enough to melt copper.

We love Kawau Island too. Seeing the video brought back some good memories of our trip. I’m Auckland, born and bred, but it’s easy to take these places for granted, or even forget they are on our doorstep.

If I could turn back the clock of life and had the bravery to do it, I would live my life again in the way that you live yours. Well done and well lived friend.
I watch a lot of sailing UA-cam videos. What I appreciate the most about you is how genuine you are. No click bait. No nonsense. It’s all real with you and it shows. You do an amazing job. I wish that I could afford to support you more than just as an appreciative observer. Just know sir that you make a difference in the way that a lot of us see the world and the responsibility that we should all feel as it pertains to protecting it.

It had been many many years since I had heard Peacocks which were introduced to my neighborhood about a year ago. I had grown up as a very young boy in the Redwoods and they were one of the birds old time historic families brought in. It was amazing to see them strut with tail feathers spread out like the NBC logo, shaking them and daring me to come close. They fly high into the redwoods to sleep ! They can be VERY loud and if you don't know what that noise is you might be a little concerned for your safety !

Always impressed with you James. How easy would it be for you to experience all that you do and the dream that you live, all the while keeping it to yourself. You did the work and accepted all of the risk. Yet, you’re eager to allow us the benefit of all of that by way of sharing it with us so beautifully and allowing us to see and experience it all with you.

These videos are not in realtime and I have since replaced it with another 200watt panel. The reason it took me so long to replace was because I had a lot of trouble finding 200w panels in NZ, they all seemed to only be 170w and I didn't want to downsize my solar capacity. Thanks for the offer though 🙏🏻
