24:45 Consider training yourself to only do 1 thing back home at-a-time quickly. Then immediately check back at your army. And repeat. And train yourself on the alarm bell. With his army that close to yours, be super minimal with your tasks at home! Especially against Japanese, don’t let an engagement happen without a lot of micro. Their units are always mixed up and need microing for best countering. That engagement at his base happened quite a bit without you.
Very clean opening. Organized and good timing. I think going for the deer pack is suboptimal once you’re in the castle age. The villager idle time while walking to the deer, and by castle age you already have 20 or 25% extra farming gather rate. I would always recommend just putting your farm down next to the white tower, especially because you had a lot of extra wood when you went for deer. It’s harder to defend the villagers far away from your base whereas farms next to the white tower is much more streamlined and safe. You had a strong macro and good villager split. You may need to work a little on composition. You should have been him in most engagements considering you had more villagers throughout the game. Japanese are hard to play against in terms of deciding troop composition, but trying to adapt and adjust your own composition could have helped you more there. You still had a really great game, strong compact base, and well organized.
Macro: When you started building 2tc on lumber, you send 4 vills on lumber, then directly focus yourself on making lumbermill (which was actually useless at this point due to TC build right next to the TC). After building 2tc you started to massively chop wood and collected 400+ before start spending it (even tho it was designed to build farms). Make it gradually, so you'll have more food faster. You also could just go on deers since you scouted that, he'll be going From 10:20 to 12:00(ingame time) you have 2 idle TCs. Its -10 vills in pretty early stage of the game Also additional idle time later on from 1-2 tcs you could have around 40 vills more. This was one of the major factors why you lost. Also plenty of resources in bank, but it's common even for conq players. Strategically: I do not recommend playing king vs japan, unless you really know how to slow down gold and isntant macro towards castle. He actually expected longbows thats why he build 2 towers (which is a win, but you have to focus on gathering food instead of wood), so fortunately for you it went well. Relic play was non-existent. You have to either contest them with units, or at least make small palisade walls around them, so they need to commit there. Around 18 min you destroyed entire army and then you just went back with 30 units. You should research field engineering make 2-3 rams and kill his production. You could win here. Unit comp - at first fight, he just makes mass horsemen and bugeisha, which both counters xbows(and xbows sucks vs both). You still could win this if you just made +-20 maa with armor clad or knights, so it was kinda scouting issue. Bugeisha is bad vs maa knight and longbows(when they have frontline or you kite very well). Then you went with entire army out of position to chase 2 horsemen. If your army stayed near berky, you should hold it. Also by this time you had so many resources that you could have additional 28 maa. These events make you lose the game
@MrRealPrezes Thanks for the tips here. I think a big part of my game that is lacking is knowing how to finish games when I have an obvious advantage. Watching back on this, I have no idea why i didn't just go into 2 or 3 rams after that initial army wipe. I think you're right, the game would have been close to over at that point. No excuse for idle TC, the eco I missed out on definitely contributed to the loss, ugh painful. Great tips on strategy. My plan for the next Japanese map is Council Hall into feudal aggression and to try to not let them get to castle quickly, where they get a power spike. Thanks for the support!!
Hey man! You have a nice personnality for streaming, keep it up! I will sure watch some more english games of you. I am learning this game on a very slow tempo for a year now i think, I am an OTP english plat player so I can give you some early game tips; - Pulling sheep close to TC. At min.6 you do it good, but you should do it aswell after you send your scout away for the first time - beasty build age 1 (its easy to do, so not much learning, see his "how to pro") - 1 TC = 4 vills - 2 TC = 8 vills (so you have just enough for constant villager production, so from the moment you have 2 TC's, you need atleast 8 on food.
@cetube2495 Hey there, thanks for support!! I'm kind of in the same boat as you, playing casually and learning from experience (aka painful losses). Good tips on Early game, the "at least 8 food vils" will definitley be my mind in the next games. I struggle sometimes with Macro before it really starts taking off so that's a good tip. Good luck on the ladder and thanks again for the watch and the coaching tips!
@@reading_books_aoe4 I would recommend watching beasty vids on how to play openings off english. It gives me a real advantage on the goldies. I see them doing real stupid shit xd But when I encounter plats, its a different story. Please upload more english videos! I will watch them for sure and give tips when I can.
Hey me again. Main problem in a lot of your games is that you go 2TC to get Eco lead, but your not producing Villagers. For example both TC's are idle from 10:20 till 12:00, with 20 sec production time per vill, thats 10 never produced Villagers + the vills you lost by his raid. And when you producing vills you often produce just from one TC instead of both, thats why your villager count is even when you are on 2 TC earlyer. To change this use key bindings. Go to settings -> controls -> Buildings and use a Key for "select all towncenters" I use "H" for this. I also use "J" for "Focus on main TC" so i can jump my camera to my main tc whenever i get raided. With this keybindings you cann have your camera in action and can produce Vills from both TC's with just pressing "H + Q" several times. I also think you could have pushed your Enemy after both won fights in castleage if you only had some rams. At 17:30 he was on 0 military, 2 Rams and you would get both towers + all production buildings. Same thing after the fight at 22:00 you won the fight, but let him rebuild. Dont forget that he has all relics + his passive income from the monk relics. You need to do eco DMG .
@beule9421 Hey there, thanks for the return watch! You're so right. I have my TC's grouped to 4 but I have my main TC cued to double 4 (4+4). BUT i have a horrible habit of just hitting double 4 and then cueing up vills, which negates the other TC. This is something I'm working on and is improving in my future games but there really is no excuse at this level to be not producing constant vills. Great tip here, Thanks! Agreed on the ram situation. I have another huge gap in my game in not capitalizing when I have an obvious advantage. If had simply gone into rams and not worried so much about eco, i think could have won this game easily. There is no excuse in not pushing him once I won the first skirmish. Great observation and tips. It will definitely be in my mind in future games. Thanks again for this great feedback and for your continued support! What civs do you play?
@@reading_books_aoe4 Hey, i had a long break from the game but im reurning to it right now. Currently i also play a lot of England to get back into the game, i also play Byzantine and Ottomans, but mostly England.
I main japan here, what you doing early game is perfect, won all of the early fight, I would love some man at arm mix with spear and crossbow get ram and go to his production. You let him build a late TC at 20 mins, should be in his face when you won most of the early fight.
@@VietDudez I never seem to finish the games when I feel like I have an advantage. Good to know the early gsme went well. Definitely will be going a little.more aggressive at Japan next time I see them. Thanks for the support!
Your tower at the top spotted his TC on the edge, but you never reacted, you went south instead. Those ona bageshia are annoying lol. They have ranged melee and attack fast, but they take bonus damage from archers. They were shredding your ranged units in that big engagement, try to a-move yiur melee and kite with the ranged units.
@corycosta6257 So annoying. I did some unit research after this game because I was so lost on what to actually be making against his comp. I think my build should be a lot more aggressive against Japanese as well. Try to stop him from getting that power spike in castle.
The problem was not the japanese. The problem was the fear of the japanese, that let you idle your TC. The lonely samurai raid did cost you dozens of workers it seems. The farming ( 17:00 )and lumber eco upgrades came out way too late With idling your Tc you made it to castle age in time. The 2 outposts with some sight on the map where nice to. At the start of the game go horseman. Force the enemy into spears. Onna Bugeisha raiders loose to horseman and archers. And spearman are really bad at attacking. After getting to castle age and having an army build these large walls. You start doing it before castle age. This is a mistake. Loosing workers to raids in combination with TC idling lost you the game i believe. Could you check if you idled the TC ? I can't explain the worker count on Aoe4worlds graph otherwise. I took a look into japan, and it is now one of my favorite civs. Because of the gold earning buddhist monks. And of the capability to do 3 early mounted samurai bannerman for raiding. Japanese can be played a lot more harder in the right hands.
Let me know your thoughts but I think you had him beat after your first successful castle age push. If you had made some rams, denied resources where you could and keep producing units, I think you would’ve won The Japanese knight build is very momentum based, and you handled his initial push well.
@NoName-vt8uz I think you're right about being ahead after that initial push, I just didn't capitalize very well off the push back. That's a big gap in my game I think right now, realizing my advantage and then acting quickly to convert it into a win. I get stuck sometimes trying to just get macro going before feeling comfortable to move in for the kill but I should be more proactive. ESPECIALLY against Japanese. I've got keep them in feudal if I can I think. Thanks!!
@adamsimmons6876 When I watched the game afterwards that is exactly what I thought. I don't have a lot of experience playing against this civ but next time will definitely be more aggressive to stop their castle power spike. Thanks for the support!
