During this time frame, June of 1993 I made my farthest trip east on Amtrak. I Live in Montana, & Havre, Whitefish or Pocatello were the closest Amtrak Stations. For this trip I my Mom drove me down to Pocatello, where I boarded the Pioneer, to Portland, & from their the Empire Builder to Chicago. It was late so I missed the Hoosier State, & they let us latebees onto the Cardinal, & rode that to Indianapolis. Visiting some friends their, I was there for a week, & headed back on the Hoosier State/Empire Builder to Whitefish. One thing that stood out to me just south of Chicago on the way out on the Cardinal was the long string of Metra/BN E9's that were sidelined not long before my passing. Would of loved to see those in active service. Was glad to learn years later that many of them found new homes.

At 15:36 watching her stand there reminds me of the good ole days when we didn't have to wear safety vests.

I used to catch that train in Denver Colorado and take it to Omaha Nebraska and back every summer to visit my mom when I was a kid. I loved riding the train.

An era before safety vests and when people weren’t accustomed of being on film and the pre Pepsi can Amtrak locomotives

Former T&E crew members from the Galesburg crew base have since retired. The last, Butch Rudolph (conductor) bailed 12/31/18. There’s two LSA’s still hanging in there that I know of. The days of the “prior rights” employees has attained sunset.

That girl came to the US when she was 10 years old and has been here for 28 years and she still hasn't lost her Greek accent?. In 1987 i moved to the US from Poland with my parents when I was 12, but you would never recognize that English is my second language, because my Polish accent is completely gone. Now I prefer to speak in English and I think in English. Me and my sister who is 3 years older then me, we both speak English to each other. My parents are the only people I speak Polish to.

My Grandma's mom, & dad came from Poland, & Germany but immigrated to the US speading most of their lives here. So as such my Grandma, & her other siblings grew up in a polish speaking house hold, but out side the house were expected to speak English. It is the primary language of the land, & if they were gonna get anywhere here they had to speak the main language.

The trains are old and filthy, doesn't anyone care about the ascetics? The passenger rail workers in Western Europe are so much sharper and motivated, nice clean uniforms etc.Why isn't Amtrak interested in higher standards. Watch videos of train service in Germany, Den,ark, Switzerland, France, the US looks 3rd world-ish

Bobby Paluga doing their best why wear something nice for a dirty job. AMTRAK is americas only passenger train with millions of riders per year they don't have time to do everything

Bobby Paluga you should vote for Congressmen and women who will support Amtrak and not try to drain it dry. They do a great job with what they are given.

In the USA, we fly. European countries are like US states, the USA is too big to sit on a train. Train takes 3 or 4 days, jet takes 3 or 4 hours.
