I got this for Christmas when I was 7, it was the most glorious thing ever, Optimus was fantastic, the small version of the Masterpiece that was the Leader class and Cometor is just the best version of Landmine ever, still own them despite some breakage in the stacks and Cometor's gun, which by the way was intentional! My 7yr old self thought " I don't have MP01 so no mini Megatron, but that gun kinda looks like megs, just need to remove this and this and there we go" I have zero Idea why I didn't just use a screwdriver to push the pieces out and then assemble them together...
I’ve ruined many a figures of mine by removing pieces thus breaking them and then throwing them away my goal is to get back all the figures I broke even the figures that are trash like armada prime
Honestly, the stars on the side of Optimus’ truck mode honestly looks like if either a little girl decorated Optimus in the film, and he didn’t mind ‘cuz he thought it was cute. Or a little girl found the original HFTD toy and put a bunch of glitter on it.
I don't think the original battle blades prime ever released in Australia, or at least I don't remember it releasing in my area. As such, this was my only experience with the mould.
A friend sold me this set for 50 bucks; this version of Optimus was a holy grail of mine. As you say, it is pretty much the Leader Class, but shrinked. The transformation is genius and more interesting than the Leader Class as it is not hindered by the lights and sounds. Commetor is interesting and the hands transforming into the seats is a clever idea; the head of my copy is also loose (perhaps mold degradation?). Can't wait for more videos remembering the good old days of ROTF, HFTD and DOTM!
Experience in the toy industry here- I have never heard of multipacks existing due to overstock- production lines aren't really set up that way so multipacks are ordered AS multipacks, not reuse of extra stock. The more you know!
Man, glad to see more attention put into the Landmine mold, I think it is greatly under appreciated: - Those seats - The molded interior with rollbar details, glove box and steering wheel - Suspension - The spring loaded bits that compress in robot mode - Opening trunk with mechanical detail that discovers the back of his head (which is designed to look like an engine block) - The tires and rims are two separate pieces, and greatly detailed; the rims have the valve stem molded while the tires have detail that simulate the letters most real tires have. - accessory works as a regular mounted machninegun in car mode, an over the shoulder cannon, or a handheld blaster. I really think Hasbro/Takara engineers put all their love into this mold
Optimus quite clearly still has those chest panels, which I believe are the engine compartment firewall of the semi, at the end of ROTF on the aircraft carrier. Any damage done from Mega earlier was completely healed when he took Jetfire's parts. Including his battle mask. They changed him in DOTM for... reasons. Supposedly they said it makes him look more "heroic" by having abs.
I bought Comettor loose way back in the day because I thought he looked so sweet. I was confused by him at first and thought the plastic felt a little cheap, but I grew to love him! He's based off of the '07 Allspark Power Landmine. I'm really surprised at how expensive the SS Prime is! In fact, it seems that most SS figures greatly appreciate in value following their production run, even more so than older figures. Odd, no? Have you ever tried custom painting your figures? I started last year and have made some previously wack looking figures look awesome, I was planning on doing SS32 Optimus soon.
ROTF deluxe Armorhide is the Army green Nest version of Commiter with the cool suspension. Love that mold! Those hand- seats are awesome attention to detail Those "stars" on prime would drive me NUTS.
The deluxe landmine mold is so good. One of the best toy only movie toys IMO. I bought the ROTF repaint recently because I just think that’s the best look for it.
Honestly I think this Optimus beats studio series by a lot. A good truck good robot guns and swords in the robot and looks accurate. Studio series only had jetfire combo and the trailer while everything else I’d say is beaten by HTFD prime
I like how he transforms over studio series and it feels authentic if that makes sense in comparison to the fake windows and weird leg transformation on ss

I had the army green version of Commetor from either the TF1 or TF2 line and it was honestly one of my favourite figures. Until his head, which *_kept falling off super easily even if you breathed on it wrong,_* one day fell off and I never found it again.
Dude, the ROTF Landmine/Armorhide mold was my all time favorite mold as a kid, I always had the Armorhide figure thinking its name was Landmine. I actually still have it (be it missing some parts, like the head, a hand, and the soft plastic on the chest and knees) but I actually have a mint condition one in its packaging too. I love that figure.
This must have been such a fun Christmas gift. Optimus was a downscale of the best movie Optimus figure, EVER so it was more affordable and you didn't have this huge monstrocity around the house. I love both the rotf leader and the downscale because they both provide two different experiences. The small one scales better and is more compact while the large one has amazing ratcheting, gimmicks and towers over your lego buildings. Prime's transformation was complex but not too complex which is awesome. It's LEAPS better than any of the studio series Optimi...which is sad to say. And Comettor? One of the best transformers molds as a vehicle with tons of detail, seats, a poseable gun and suspension? That's some lego technic shit. And he got the best deco from the Landmine mold. He looks like he's ready to celebrate christmas on the moon and Comettor is a super name. They just don't make transformers like these anymore
You can pull the panel on the back of the leg on the ROTF leader prime mold and bulks the bottom part of the leg a bit, on my copy its a little hard/scary to do but works
This prime is one of my holy grails. It just blows my mind how much more accurate this is compared to the studio series which was aimed at being accurate while this was aiming to be a good toy.
The chest not being a faux part have always been my main concern in figures of optimus. If they manage to use the truck's actual windshield for his chest, It's a total win for me. So this is definitely a win over ss prime for me.
I got this a few months ago broke the landmine repaint but the prime is great I also got mine for 35 on eBay which was great when the Hftd version was like over 100 dollars
Landmine is a movie 1 figure. His first repaint was even still in movie 1, even if he was a late movie 1 figure. I remember that time very well. Also 6:41 I just realized hits way too home. My lower legs go out like that. I think I need a minute.
I don’t get why they give the premium finish to 05 but anyway, I want a new prime mold for Studio Series Prime, the truck mode should look like the battle blade/hook mold and robot mode like downscale mpm imo. That would be a good attempt. Is there a way to remove the stars and moon from the windshield and the other places without damages the plastic? I order one but I want it with a clean look if it’s possible.
I got the car one at my elementary school like 10 to 11 years ago for 20 TWD(not USD, in USD it's like 65 cents) it was like school anniversary and every class is required to set up something to sell like food drinks and stuff Mine is missing the guns but i still love it
I agree with them releasing REDECO packs again, but not if they're the only means to get iconic characters. I think it'd be best to make it someone semi-memorable or a *variant* of a main character and someone more obscure, like this pack. That way, they're optional and give you something cool. One I would do in the modern age is Legacy Arcee in pink colors, like the special pack from Transformers Prime and then some obscure G1 or Unicron Trilogy character, like Triggercon Windsweeper out of ER Starscream. This way, you wouldn't really be screwing over too many folks and still get some neat alternate stuff out (but we all know Hasbro would make this pack a barely repainted figure and an iconic character, making us buy two for the price of three).

I just have a pair of legs. Don’t even have the matrix anymore which was kind of annoying. And I never figured out how to transform him.
I have both the hftd and ss Optimus, and I have to say, the hftd is way better in my opinion. It’s more fun and doesn’t rely on foe parts while the ss does. I recommend sticking with hftd

I think your feet problem with cometor has to do with the amount of times it was repainted. The only 3 I know of is cometor of course, landmine and armorhide. Armorhide and landlines feet are perfectly fine on my copies.
I have a dumb story with this two pack… I passed on it because I already had the original mold of comettor aaaand, here is the stupid part, I passed on Optimus because I mistook it with the dotm voyager wich I also had already… At least I have them now, thanks to ebay, I found them as mostly same price as they had originally, maybe less, don’t remember. And then… one of the back bumpers or wheel well cover or however is called on that part at the back of the truck “broke” but only the plastic that holds the pin that allows the piece to rotate :(

That Optimus was my fav cuz his transformation seemed logical and realistic (ignoring the abs) in comparison to other Optimus toys at the time
