    I get amazed at the cruel remarks left by people. Any sport, hobby, however someone would like to refer to it, can leave someone injured. I started riding when I was a young girl. I was thrown many times. Hit by a car once, luckily my horse nor I were hurt badly, I had no fear and my horse 17+ did not either. I am quite elderly now and the days I spent with that animal flying through the fields and woods were.........well priceless. You keep riding honey, you'll never regret it.

    For all the people who have said she needs to have more contact on her reins, it looks like she has plenty. You don't need 500 lbs of pressure to have control of your horse. In fact a great rider needs none at all. ... Hope you had a quick recovery! Your horse is beautiful by the way. =]

    He really does look like a good boy who just got spooked. I know the feeling of when you've got a good horse that just has a few issues. I hope that your back gets better, I too know how it feels to not be able to ride because of a back issue, a few years back I had surgery for scoliosis and couldn't ride for ever! Good luck getting better and happy trails!

    Woah, that's one high buck! :P
    That's a tough one to sit, and he caught you right when you weren't in the saddle, like you said.. Way tough, lol!
    Everyone who seriously rides and knows what they're talking about also knows that accidents are a big part of riding, we're all going to fall one time or another and we've all got to deal with it.
    I'll go watch some of your horse's other vids now! :)

    HOLY CRAP! I had to laugh at the title of this video...I'm in a Jewitt Brace b/c of my fractured spine as well. I found my dismount more efficient though...less air time...it was the sudden stop on concrete that got ME!
    GET WELL SOON.

    I've had a dressage-trained warmblood do this to me before (I'm pretty new to dressage, but not to riding). Sometimes they just get really over excited and buck and canter off and stuff. Horses are just unpredictable. I was later advised to lunge for 10-15min prior to riding, which helped a lot in terms of keeping the horse under control in schooling. Hope you're back's improved :)

    i also want to commend you on letting go of your reins when you came off. So many people hold onto them and don't realize how they can truly ruin the horses mouth. So, bravo on trying to handle an unexpected buck and remembering to let go of your reins.

    I had a very serious accident 3 years ago, it has taken me till this year to get my "mojo" back. Take your time, only do as much as you're ok with, don't overface or overhorse yourself, be safe and patient with yourself and give it time!

    Girl, I so feel your pain. This looks like an instant replay of what happened to me two weeks ago. Burst fracture at T12, right above the first lumbar. Hyper-extension brace and no riding or lifting anything for at least 3 months. I see this was awhile ago. I hope you are 100% again! owch.

    Wow! Are you getting better?? I have had that happen before. Some horse in a near by paddock having fun and the horse I'm riding decides to join in... Accidents do happen (been there, done that). I hope you are healing and can get back into the saddle! Stay positive!! :)

    Wow- great video and excellent song choice- that wasn't sit-able under and circumstances- that you got clear of those back hooves is amazing- i'm sorry it came at such a high price and wish you a full and complete healing without chronic pain.

    Aw I'm so sorry D: Lol yea with what I've seen and heard Warmbloods tend to be a little feistier, but he looks like the docile kind. That was really exciting! Must have felt as incredible as it looked :o Anyways, hope you get well soon!

    I like your opening statement with the video...sh*t happens especially when your dealing with horses when no matter how well trained or level headed they are they do have a mind of their own. I think people forget that sometimes.

  • @WahKeetcha0
    @WahKeetcha0 13 років тому

    I am glad to know that you weren't hurt worse and that you understand shit happens. There are a lot of ignorant people out there that think they know everything about horses and how to ride but forget that horses are a living animal that have opinions and thoughts like us. I think you are a very good rider (I personally don't do dressage but from what I could see) and you did all you could do. Hopefully you heal up and can get back on soon, life without your buns in the saddle is no fun.

I broke my spine 11 years ago after my horse fell on me, finally had spinal surgery after a very long wait, (2 years ago) and I am just recovering enough now to hopefully ride 'properly' again soon...so I wish you all the best and hope that Andy is more gentle with you...I'm sure he will be...good luck...xx

    I have been to many many away shows, it was only his first time. We didn't think there would be problems since the day he arrived at our stable after three hours in a trailer from canada, there was construciton and saws and hammering and noise and obviously a new home, new horses, new country and he was totally mellow and not the least bit phased.

    I'm sorry about what happened and I'm glad this is here. It proves to people even what seems to be the calmest horse, it still can do things. It looked as though all of a sudden something hit her or bit her and she tried to kick at it and get it away.

    @Sabley I have been riding for 8 months now, and the other day my horse just decided to throw me off! Its one of the most well-behaved horses in the stable, so it probably was my mis-handling. The buck was not very strong, but i was kind of sure that the horse had decided to push me off, so I chose to "slide to the ground" when it was possible rather than fight my way on the saddle! The horse returned the favor, in 60 seconds, she let me climb her back! Sorry to hear about your fractures :(

    You poor pet, simple fall and terrible injury. I slipped a disk last year and it's no joke. Hope your riding again soon. Don't worry about the responses ppl are giving, anyone who rides daily and regularly especially those who work with horses know how easy it is for something like this to happen.

    Nice video! I cant believe the things we catch on tape! Hope you are feeling better. I had a similar thing happen to me, except after bucking my horse flipped over backwards on me before i new what was happening. I broke the tip of my pelvis. I have trained to grand prix dressage and have done preliminary eventing so I think i know how to ride well enough. Haha. bad things just happen even on good horses and with good riders. Good Luck, you have a great start.

Its a spook a leap forward followed by a huge buck....I feel your pain and hope you are ok now and back in the saddle pain free. Sh** happens. I too am experienced. I hate that he kicks out at you while you are on the ground...my mare could be his twin!

    Sweetheart. This video made me cry because I was thrown by a horse last November and fractured my T7 and couldn't ride. My back is better, but then a different horse that I had bought kicked and broke me arm. I haven't ridden for a long time and it's really been torturous because I am an active person and can't do anything without help. I'm with you.

    This is the reality of working with animals. Others are just trash talking - very obviously trying to get you.
    I worked with a pony for months that was so calm and gentle, she'd been a school horse for years. Then one day, completely out of the blue, she freaked out and ripped the entire top rail off the fence she was tethered too (grooming). Thankfully no tack on, just a halter and lead. She calmed back down right away. Got it on tape and still no idea what spooked her!

    Ouch, that would hurt! When I first feel, the horse stepped on my side, the second time I feel was when I was jumping and the horse stopped, and i flipped over his head on to the jump, and the third time my instructor forgot to check my saddle and my horse bolted and the saddle slide. The last time i feel was on a horse who wasn't use to a bit and bucked me off.

  • @03firefly
    @03firefly 13 років тому

    @PNHPlatinum I don't see her blaming the parelli girl. She was just explaining the situation. Understand what caused a horse to spook or act up is the first step in working with the horse to prevent that from happening again. The fact that she was aware of her surroundings is good. This horse might be used to other horses acting frisky around him at home or at a few places, but not here. For a horse, a situation at one barn may look completely different than the same situation at another barn.

    Sometimes horses just decide they dont want you on anymore. @LeahLuvsHorses The way she fell,'if evaluated', could also indicate damage to the lower back, most likely in the Sacral curve, possibly in the sacrum itself or the lower part of her Lumbar verterbrae. Either way if she did or not, no one can determine this from watching a video. Like a car crash, you can analyse the way the car hit the curb or skidded all you like but still somehow it ended up on its roof. It's only something you can determine through further analysis for the causal link.
