We look at the basics of theory behind the different legatos for bowed string instruments and how they relate to different legatos we have in Bohemian Violin as well as how to use them in a simple and effective way.
Guys, you need to start promoting your peoducts properly. It has been 1 year since you made a youtube video. Keep making videos on a regular basis to promote your product. Showcase it, do a A/B comparison video with Bohemia violin amd a real life player. Andre, you need to make videos at least once a week to promote the Bohemian series
I am considering purchasing this VST library. I find videos that are 3 years old, nothing recent. Thanks for the “under the hood” explanation this is very helpful in understanding how to utilize the VST.
We do plan to do new tutorial series, but we want to make the tutorials work for our existing and upcoming series, so it won't be here until February. In the mean time please feel free to check the existing videos. The way the plugin operates is the same, but it has a new UI and fast disk streaming as well as few other cool additions, but what is said in these tutorials is still valid for the most recent libraries
@@Virharmonic : I just installed my Bohemian Violin earlier today. It is a little intimidating at first glance and the User Manual that I downloaded from your website is a little on the light side. Other than this one video explaining Legato I am unable to locate any other setup or tutorial videos that might help to get me off to a good start with Bohemian Violin. I would be most grateful if you (or any users reading this) could refer me to some. Also, is there some way of being able to confirm exactly which version I have? Since I just downloaded it today I assume that it's the newest but I cannot find an "About" link or version number on the GUI, which I would think would be necessary when updating in the future. Please know that I am very excited about making good use of your brilliant library!
@@PJ-ee5mc The core functions like the legatos ect stayed the same, so these older tutorials still apply. We will be releasing new tutorials series for the updated version this quarter, but if you get stuck and the manual or the existing videos do not answer your questions please contact our support through the website and one of our team will be able to assist you. We will try to cover all core parts of the library as well as to give some tips and tricks in the tutorials.
I'm excited to hear the Viola soon, with the trio I can make all kinds of good music
This might be the best I've heard. Definitely a contender for number one quality for a sampled solo violin.
Love your products :) In my opinion it's the best solo Violin & Cello library out there.
Can you already tell us when we can expect the 2nd expansion for the Cello?
Thank you for the kind words ;) We are aiming for this year release towards the end of this year, but it depends on the schedule of the cellist as we are still in process of capturing him. Either way we want to release his expansion 2 as soon as possible

@@AlrotaMusic Hi Alrota, We have been bit slow to update the tracker (updated today). We wanted to wait until we could update it to 100% for captured content. Also as our cellist is now in high demand and got recently signed by the largest agency in Czech rep we are very happy to report that the Cello now has content for EXP2 and 3 fully captured as his schedule just went from crazy busy levels to outright insane, but luckily we have managed to capture all the content needed. Our plan internally is to release Expansion 3 for the Violin and match the Cello to the same level within a month of each other, so instead of releasing Expansions 2 for the Cello we will launch Expansion 2 and 3 together on the Cello and Viola, so they immediately match the violin. This will save us at upwards of 3 months for EXP3 compared to us splitting them. All of these should be done before the summer break and we are working around the clock to get them out asap ;)
First Quarter is almost done I can wait for the Viola and the Violin and Cello Updates

If you guys are able to create a full orchestral string section with the same intelligent approach you've used with these libraries, my guess is you'd rule the market hands down, it wouldn't even be close! Please consider! Very, very impressive. Dare I say... perfect??
I just purchased and installed Bohemian Violin earlier today. It is a little intimidating at first glance and the User Manual that I downloaded from your website is a little on the light side for setup although the contextual GUI help menus will come in handy with time I'm sure. Other than this video explaining Legato I am unable to locate any other setup or tutorial videos that might help to get me off to a good start with Bohemian Violin.
The only exception is one that found on your UA-cam channel relating to Bohemian Violin. However the GUI in that video looks quite different than the one I received. I see that there is a version number visible on the GUI of the one in the video on your channel but not on the one that I just downloaded. Since I downloaded it today I assume that it's the newest version but I cannot confirm this without a version number, which I would think would be necessary when updating in the future. Please know that I am very excited about making good use of your brilliant library. I would just like to clarify these points and also know where I can find more detailed information relating to your library.

But in the comments here, I read, you guys are working on new expansion packs for violin and cello.

Yes, there is one expansion coming to violin and we have merged EXP2 and 3 for the cello. They will both come out together as well as the viola . We are currently in alpha on all of them and they will all come out together 😉

@@motu9741 Hi Mo, We are still in prep for Double bass, but it is something that we plan to make too.
I was about to buy it but I noticed panning issues when the samples are changing. This can be heard at 3:46 and 4:50. Seems like this particular note has the channels reversed in some samples because I don't hear it anywhere else in the demo. However the library has been since updated so I hope the issue has been fixed. Best sounding violin library indeed.
Hi Louis, thank you for getting in touch. We have recorded in mid stereo setup and especially in bowchange there can be some motion. This is not something we have had reported before as an issue and therefor not something that would have been worked on. In the new version we have added stereo width control as well as many other comfort features, so the user can control the width of the stereo to their liking as this can be useful when mixing.

The latest version looks great indeed considering the panning options, nevertheless in the example at 3:47 it does really sounds like the channels get abruptly reversed, unlike the usual motion. I'll wait for the Viola so that I can decide which one fits me the most. Thanks again!

Hey, I've been playing with this instrument for a while. To feature that is definitely missing and can be used as a transpose feature.
Hi, it is quite hard to see the midi in the background when demonstrating the bow change legatos etc
Hi Victor, I'll have a word with our designer for future videos. I've checked it myself and I could see them well enough in my opinion before we made it public. The GUI seconds what is being played making it easier to see when which legato is playing, but more importantly hear when it is on bow and when bow changed and we didn't want the midi to be all that viewers pay attention to which is why we did that Visual Explanation before I played any tunes in the video. It is more about getting the viewer listening to the difference . Saying that, I will pass your feedback on for future videos as we want the videos to be as informative as possible and as digestible as possible ;) even if they have to cover a lot of ground.
Any plans to release string sections? It would be so great to have a chamber orchestra of this exceptional quality!
Thank you for the kind words Andrey. We have plans for new releases in coming months and years as well as many cool new features for the Bohemian Series in the upcoming Expansion 3 (final big upgrade :) ), but nothing public to announce just yet ;)

- Could somebody shed some light on how responsive the legato is? Is there a delay when playing in real time? How easy is it to, say, play triplets or runs? Is it sluggish at all? It sure sounds wonderful in the video, but when I listen to the demos for the Bohemian cello it really sounds like it struggles to keep up with the legato transitions and the tempo goes out the window =/ Is it more like Joshua Bell kind of legato (quite responsive) or more like a Hollywood strings legato? For instance, with lots of these legato patches, when I play a run it never does a tatatatata, instead it goes more like tatatata....ttttta, if that makes any sense.... That rebow, by the way, really looks mental (really f** good).
- Also， (sorry for being a pain in the rear, but I am really considering getting this and possibly even the cello, and they aren't cheap) how does one get a hard attack but then a decreasing expression/dynamics up from that point? It seems to me, based on the tutorials I have seen, that expression is controlled by velocity, but does that not mean that all notes played hard will lead to louder expression? Is there any way to separate the attack from the dynamic of a note, so that one can have, say, a marcato note which then smoothly transitions into a decrescendo? I guess that would be similar to what Chris Hein tried to do with the concepts of notehead.
Does this mean we can replace Bohemian Violin with Bohemian violin V3. only I see the file size is different between them 17 gb vs 8 gb respectively.
Hi Tommy, Yeah, you can replace it completely. You are probably comparing the size of 96Khz version to the 48Khz version. We have moved the 96Khz to request only now (ie you must email us to request it) In 99% of user cases, the user should be using 48Khz and having 2 versions was confusing people and often led to people using the wrong version. Only those working with Live recordings at 96Khz and DAW project set to 96Khz should ever use the 96Khz else it has 0 benefit and actually costs extra resources. Hope that helps.

Hi Michal, thank you for getting in touch. At this point we are hands down on the next update (EXP3, Viola and Cello EXP2 and 3 material to make sure that we get these out as soon as humanly possible :) ). We felt that most has now been covered with the UI and Legato tutorial. Also please feel free to check out the Cello tutorial for any extra tips ( Force Key tutorial for Cello will cover the only thing I can think we could add for the violin. We decided against doing a separate force keys tutorial as they work the same on both instruments and their core behaviour hasn't changed since version 1) If you have other areas you would like us to cover that aren't covered in the Cello and Violin tutorials, please let us know and we can look into making more tutorials. Also please feel free to check out the Overview video and of course the manual that is available on our website. I hope the above helps.

Hi vortex, thanks for getting in touch. We don’t do open sales on our libraries, our promos happen when we launch new libraries and we always give extra discounts to our existing customers to reward their loyalty during the launch windows, but we don’t run BF and similar sales as the violin and cello are still receiving free content in their expansions.

@@semproser19 Hello there Semproser, Sure thing, you can check out the dev blog for newest updates www.virharmonic.com/dev_update for updates. The tremolo is activated by fast repetition at the moment and a force key is added in EXP3 ;)
What is Maestro mode?
Justin Merdsoy, Hi Justin, Maestro is Poly Performer legato mode. It lets you play multiple notes together and play it in poly legato mode.
