Augrabies is such a beautiful area with amazing landscapes and quite a few fun activities to get up to. No one ever told us how amazing the Northern Cape is! We never realised what a gem it was until we went exploring there for the first time.

The Kameeldoring Campsite is located right in the heart of the Augrabies region less than 500 meters away from the gate to the Augrabies Falls National Park. It is located right on the banks of the Orange River. Each campsite is a stand-alone unit with individual kitchen and bathroom facilities. We're sure you'll be as amazed as we were to find out that this dry and seemingly barren landscape is home to booming agricultural fruit production. They produce fruits such as table grapes, nectarines, oranges, peaches, grapefruits, and many more. Literally everywhere you look, you will see shade clothed orchards and vineyards. Let's get back to our special location for the day.
Khamkirri is an amazing lodge that offers a number of accommodation options including camping facilities. They are situated right on the banks of the Orange River with an incredible restaurant and bar that's deck literally stretches out into the water. The Augrabies Falls National Park covers 820 square kilometers and is located around the Augrabies Falls. This magnificent waterfall plummets 60 meters down into the gorge which averages 240 meters deep and runs for 18km. As you explore the park you can be on the lookout for wildlife such as klipspringers, jackals, gemsbok, kudu, eland, leopards, and African wild cats. where the mighty orange river is at its most impressive as it thunders its way through a ravine and cascades down into a pool walled by sheer granite, 56m below
Our tips for visiting this region:
◾Do a bit of research before arriving at the particular area you will be staying in. Find out where the closest stores are for supplies etc. Often the nearest store will be some 20 km away from where you plan on staying.
◾ Keep a respectful distance from wildlife.
◾Check out some of the amazing activities to do in Augrabies such as hot air ballooning, a range of fun activities offered by Khamkirri, as well as visiting the beautiful Augrabies Falls National Park.

@@billybud9557 that sounds like a fantastic roadtrip! 😄 We managed to do a really nice roadtrip all around South Africa last year. We started in Durban went through the Northern Cape past Kimberly and Augrabies then to Cape Town and down the cost back to Durban. It was amazing, we truly appreciate the beauty of South Africa after that trip 😍

Just discovered your channel. It's awesome! The flow at the waterfall is very strong now. Part of the movie, The Giver, has also been shot here. You can clearly see the falls in the movie.
Thanks so much Dirk! 😄 We would love to see the waterfall in stronger flow! All the posters at the park show the falls in flood and it looks like it would be quite a sight to see. I have actually watched The Giver but never noticed that. We'll have to watch it again and see 😄 thanks for watching!

Sarah & Marek My parents did a road trip through SA last year and loved their stop in Augrabies! So we are thinking about doing the same in December, but depends on Craig’s leave 😬 we’ll definitely give you a shout if we do though 😊
