I love the freedom and free time I continue to gain. First no wasted time watching NBA, then NFL and now, my lifelong favorite sport, Baseball. It’s amazing how quickly a person can adjust to not supporting “entertainment” but rather actually doing something productive.

Colorado has 99.3 percent of Colorado primary voters used one of those methods last year.
So, while it’s true that Colorado has fewer days for in-person voting, it also has far less demand for in-person voting. Voters rarely encounter lines here. And the ultimate result of Colorado’s system is extremely high turnout.
Georgia’s new law moves the state away from Colorado’s vote-by-mail approach, pushing more voters to show up in person. For example, under the new law, Georgia elections officials can only mail out absentee applications to voters who individually request it, shutting down one approach to encouraging mail balloting. And voters will have a shorter window to ask for those ballots.
The Georgia law also bans mobile voting centers, and it strictly limits the use of dropboxes. This is another area where Colorado is moving in the opposite direction. Colorado had one dropbox per 9,400 active registered voters for the last election, with the Secretary of State boasting about adding scores of new locations in the past few years.
In Georgia, it’s capped at one box per 100,000 active registered voters
And, instead of being outdoors with 24-hour access, as many in Colorado are, the Georgia boxes must be inside government buildings and voting sites.
Meanwhile, Georgia’s law adds an additional Saturday of early voting, but it limits the hours of those early voting days to 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Colorado does require some form of ID when voters register for the first time, and whenever they vote in person. But the state accepts 16 different forms of identification. The options include common identification cards like a driver’s license, a U.S. passport, or government employee ID - but Colorado also accepts Medicare and Medicaid cards, college IDs, utility bills, bank statements and paychecks.
Colorado does not require identification for mail voting once a person is registered. Instead, the state mails a ballot to the person’s home, and then matches their signature against a database when the ballot is returned.
In contrast, Georgia allows only six forms of ID for in-person voting. And the state requires that voters provide a driver’s license number, a copy of a state identification card or a social security number each time they vote by mail.

But, until we get that, we-the-people can jerk corporate-funded politicians around by the short hairs by not complaining to them about their legislation ... but by going over their head and threatening to boycott their donors' businesses. They do not require ID to pick up tickets presently since there isn't a Will Call this year. But in the before times: you walked up, paid your money, and went through the gate. Even when I exchanged tickets, I never needed ID.

Nobody disagrees with requiring ID; the question is you don't need to overly restrict what ID's are acceptable. Many voters don't drive or have military or other Govt ID cards. This is the biggest problem with the Georgia bill. Tucked inside the new Georgia elections law is a measure that shifts a significant amount of election oversight power from the secretary of state and county election boards to the legislature. The measure removes the elected secretary of state as chair of the state election board and replaces him or her with an appointee of the Republican-run legislature.
The law doesn’t just change who picks the chair. Now, the majority of the board’s members will be legislative appointees, and the board gains ominous new power: the ability to remove and replace election officials administering the vote at the level where the real elections work happens - the county level.
Let’s say the state board does not like the way vote-counting is going in heavily Democratic Fulton County. Under the new law, the board can fire those in charge and plop in a new boss more to its liking.
“Republicans are brazenly trying to seize local and state election authority in an unprecedented power grab,” says voting rights leader Stacey Abrams, former Democratic leader in the Georgia State House. The new law, she says, is “intended to alter election outcomes and remove state and county election officials who refuse to put party above the people … Had their grand plan been law in 2020, the numerous attempts by state legislatures to overturn the will of the voters would have succeeded.”
Republican lawmakers must be savoring the prospect, as foxes generally do when they’re about to take over guard duty at the henhouse.
Party leaders will tell you that moves like these are necessary to restore public confidence in elections. Quite a trick, that. The only reason confidence needs restoring is that Trump and his party destroyed it by pushing the big lie that that November’s election was rigged and stolen. As attested by judge after judge and election official after election official, Republican appointees as well as Democrat, there is no evidence of cheating or fraud at anything approaching the scale that would change the outcome of the Nov. 6 vote.
Trumpian words like “rigged,” “fraud,” and “steal” should be taken as code words. Their real meaning? The election was decisively influenced by people who should not be allowed so much say in electing the president and determining the direction of the country.

They tried to cancel Delta Airlines for publicly voicing its opposition to the law. The GOP pushed through a bill to remove some of their tax breaks and they were very vocal about this being the reason. They tried to use the government power to silence Delta's criticism. At least cancel culture is driven by the private behavior of consumers, not naked government power. The GOP shows its authoritarian tendencies whenever it gets the opportunity. Georgia is currently ground zero for this.

Removing voting after 5pm eliminates a lot of hourly workers. Removing voting stations. The most crowded polling stations were in black populated counties like Gwinnett and Fulton. Weekend voting had been removed. Especially targets the "Souls to the Polls" where a large number of blacks would catch a ride on the church bus after church.

Republicans noticed that the more educated a person was the less likely they would vote for them no matter the race. When I was attending NC A&T SU (HBCU) the polling station was pulled off of campus and if you were lucky enough to be able to drive the polling station didn't accept student IDs.
Naturally you will say that I had a license. My friend who attended UNCG wasn't as blessed as me and couldn't afford car insurance and because of that she didn't get her license until she was 23. Me taking her to vote was not a possibility.

I’m think it’s fair to ask for some structure to make the process accurate and trustworthy and have a quick turnaround . So I suppose not moving the goal posts but just setting them up is the ask. Else there is no confidence in the process because it’s very loosely defined and these changes make for a real clear cut straightforward process . I can’t imagine In today’s age anyone who is trying to vote not being able to get a free state issued ID and showing up at anytime during a near one month voting process to cast their vote . And they do accommodate it’s just error in the side of safe and accurate to restore faith in the process .
In order to vote you are supposed to be registered. 100% of registered voters have ID. If and person citizen or non citizen can go to any DMV and they will give you an Id. They made this rule for homeless and to take away fear of non citizens from getting. ID’s. So, why is it unreasonable to require ID to vote?
