From Montana and have been following the entire year. I always wear a handgun I feel more comfortable with that then bear spray. My personal opinion. Growing up here and being accustomed to it just be smart and watch your back! Keep up the great work! Love the series! I look forward to them every night. Cheers from Montana.

I have never had an encounter with a Grizzly bear, but I have had several encounters with black bears. I know there's no comparison but I would go where there is a better chance of getting into elk. It's true, the soft cow call or lost calf call will bring in bears and even if you stop calling they will have pinned the spot down. I ended up shooting a bear with my bow at 9 yards that came in to soft cow calls. I came to full draw when the bear was at 20 yards. At 9 yards I went ppssseeet to get it's attention. All 5 pins were in a kill zone and when the bear came at me I let the arrow fly. He now hangs on the wall!

I have hunted with G. bears in the infested NW MT for 18 years. Never had an issue. They are in the back of my mind and I carry spray and a G20 just in case. But I still did my thing. Great series!

Casey if you ditch the pepper spray the bears wont eat you. They like seasoning just like you do. Might chew on you but as soon as Logan takes a pepper spray to the face that bear has a new meal to chase. They like a bit of a challenge..... On another note go hunt where there are plenty of elk!

It's amazing that the bear population is so strong in Montana, Wyoming and Idaho yet certain groups out there don't think bears, and wolves, should be managed. It's aggravating and sad this is our reality. I am glad that you showed everyone the importance to do your research and make plans to be safe. All of this clearly shows that we have healthy populations of predators. I hope everyone does their research to understand the importance of our public lands and proper management of the wildlife that utilizes them. Thank you sharing!

My first year hunting in Colorado on the archery hunt I had a what looked like young sow and cub stroll through behind me at about 10 yards my buddy who was about 100 yards away had to scare the cub away. Coming from Utah and having not had any bear encounters in my past hunting experience I was very nervous. I feel your anxiety. I am okay now with black bear, but Grizzly would make me nervous as hell.

in idaho you can pack a side arm.. I was younger I never did until I had a few encounters with black bears..and wolves..couple of my close hunting friends used to laugh cause I packed a side arm .. now they do too after they're run ins with mountain lion and black bears can't imagine running into a griz.. although my dad went to Alaska on a fishing trip bought a brand new 44 mag super black hawk the guide asked him if he had a file so he could file off the front site. my old man said why the hell would I do that? the guide replied so when the griz shoves it up your a** it won't hurt so bad!! then said don't come to Alaska without a riot shotgun with slugs and O.O buck.... good luck guys!!!!😂😂

Man i REALLY REALLY do love these series' from BRO, Hush and now Destination Elk, ive watched each one and each channel from maybe day one; but i have to just call out what i think is going on that is super frustrating BUT on the other hand, i think I totally understand. It is very obvious especially in this years seasons that we are purposely keeping the background, the landscape out of view. When B-Mac was glassing those elk and then the big bull came out...man i wanted a look at it! Now i am sure we wouldn't see been able to see them through the eye of the camera lense BUT why not give us a look at what you are viewing, and if that is the reason then what happened to the phonescope? That especially on the Hush side was used alot in the PAST and gave viewers such great looks and hence much better viewing "content". I think the subject really needs to be first and foremost finally addressed because for the first time i think this has become too obstructive to us as viewers of DIGITAL outdoor media, which must be the VAST majority of viewership of Outdoor TV in 2018. Speaking for myself, i would rather just be flat out told why the backgrounds OR foregrounds are not honestly being portrayed. Kept from us not just for viewing pleasure but also important context. First question or answer from 99% of everyone is...is it to protect your own honey whole? To protect the resource from being recognized and then posibly over exploited (which i admit could absolutely happen)? Could it be that there was no elk that B-Mac was glassing (i really do not believe this trick is used 90% of the time by ANY production, BUT it could be looked at as such)? Listen, as i mentioned before and probably will again, i think its a real issue that you guys have the RIGHT platform to use to finally discuss it and get it out there for discussion. Your message from day one has been on point, Hunter Conservationists should promote public lands, its hunter recruitment, its educational (greatly educational, ive been a public lands hunter for 25 years and my eyes are being opened), through some dialogue you are opening all of our eyes about the REAL possibilities that public lands are really under threat of being lost, you are promoting a healthier lifestyle and hopefully making people really think about the processed meat we all eat which. MOSTLY come from the factory farms (we've ALL seen that HORROR, sadly all from hidden video). Again, i do not know the answer, Rinella does not have the answer, BRO Crew, Hush, Newberg, Destination Elk, the Gritty guys (guy?) all of you that put this content out and have the BEST platform, please just somehow relay to the viewer of why we are NOT seeing sometimes what you guys are "seeing". Hell, i ACTUALLY think that if even a disclaimer was made that if in THAT particular video, and you were having to "hide" your location that disclaimer be like one of those you would see on a law and order type of show i.e. video of (said person) has/have been purposely disguised/hidden to protect the____________? Protect the what? That is the million dollar question, but HONESTLY insert the plain TRUTH into the blank. The answer in that blank might be different every episode, maybe it is to ....protect my honey whole, protect the waypoint given to me by my buddy, protect that natural resource that is fragile to human impact....i HOPE you understand the point. I do not think that you guys would be shot down for doing this for the viewer. You and all that i have mentioned above have all come across sincere, passionate, honest, and moral; you are ambassadors to the hopefully growing hunting public. I think i can speak for most tha WE have your support. If you lose 1% of your "supporters" for telling us the truth for being 100% open and accessible then be willing to lose them, only because i know that they would eventually come back. They'll come back once they've given his honest thought. I do not know if i've overstepped the boundary and gone about bringing this up in a UA-cam video comment wrong, maybe I could have emailed you this, but i said the heck with it, if im asking them to be open about it, i had better be too because as a hunter and conservationists myself, it is also my duty to be willing to be engaged also. For real, thank you guys for the channel, and i had better see B-Macs hands on an awesome 6x6 on tomorrows episode or im totally calling BS....just kidding (i really wish there was a way to joke through plain text, without that just kidding disclaimer)😉

I must amend what i posted onto the BRO video that i watched first, and i just copy and pasted that comment onto this video. But Case you answer the question as of why we weren't shown a whole lot of the surroundings and I 100% respect you guys for putting that into your video, i appreciate it so very much. Please keep that up, i think more people than not will respect it.

I would go for the elk. But everyone should have a side arm. That being said everyone needs to be on board because you don't want 1 guy scared shitless the whole time it just doesn't work well
