As an ex Coldstreamer, I find this embarrassing to watch. The drill and passion are severely lacking from both the Gdsm and LCpl. I also noticed the sentry orders was not read out of the first sentry but then read out on the second. I do hope their CSM does not see this. Glad I got out when I did, the regiment is gone to pot
Wow! The drill was absolutely horrendous in this video. Bent arms, arms not swinging to the rear etc. Honestly the standards have dropped so bad. No enthusiasm just going through the motions for the paycheck. Unbelievable.
Have you been for an eye test recently, Bobby 123? Have you been taught English? '...standards have dropped so bad.' you say. What is that supposed to mean? It makes no sense at all. It is definitely not correct English speech. Did you mean that your standards of English speech have dropped to low levels? Best wishes.
The Coldstream Guards are the oldest Regiment in the British Army formed in 1650 from General George Monk’s Regiment of Foot who fought throughout the English Civil War. I joined in 1963, had some great times and would do it all again if I could.
The guards are a funny lot Coldstream guards formed 1650 2nd of foot, Grenadiers formed 1656 first of foot, Scots formed 1642 3rd of foot, no make sense ?
@@grahammcghee4754 The Coldstream fought on the side of Cromwell so when the Monarchy was restored they were made 2nd Foot and because the Grenadiers were on the Royalist side they became 1st Foot (favouritism really). The Scots Guards became 3rd Foot when they were accepted into the Army establishment despite actually being the oldest regiment. Simples really!!
Thanks Alexander, I used to know all that, wasn't taking the Michael just saying we're a funny old lot. I served 9 year's with the 2nd batt Scot's guards.
@@grahammcghee4754 Hi Graham, I had an idea you might be a fellow Guardsman, it’s great to be able to see these videos and see how the young Guardsmen are doing, brings back a few memories. Septum Juncta In Uno.
@@alexweatherburn4390 bang on mate, my wife's always saying why are you looking at those for, we walk down memory lane. Good to see the banta between the Grenadiers and Coldstream guard's goes on.
What are these guys doing. The drill is about as bad as it can be. The step off on the wrong foot . Out of step. The shuffle to get back in step. Who is training these people. This is what you turn out when you dont have a GUARDS DEPOT. Its not the guys fault. Its the N.C.O. and Officers. Having sad that the Officers were not much better in my day.
I too thought there was some "sloppy" drill, eg the sentry marching at his post and how he was swinging his right arm. Another thought on the practical side: It seems that having the Corporal having to carry his rifle makes it a bit awkward when unlocking/relocking the gate and also when he made an adjustment to one or other of the Guardsman's kit.
actually, I think their standard slipped a bit in this mounting .. poor delivery of orders .. out of step at the step-off and generally lacking a bit of pizazz!
@@williamhyman9213 Yeah I was there, I don’t blame them, it’s probably not the best, hobnails + slippery floors = bad drill. It’s not their fault, it’s just how they do it.
@@ArmedForcesVideos7 Hi .. great to get a reply .. yep understand the hobnails but the delivery of orders .. maybe it was early in the morning before the tourists and the Corp was just easing into the day! Still .. so important to keep the standard up I think. I'm an Aussie but spent time in the Scots Guards about a 100 years ago!
Hey, I have a quick question? I am trying to learn more about what the grenadiers say, such when the Corporals or Lance Sergeants say "Bounce" or "Pase" when in slope arms, I may be wrong but I am wondering if you possibly could make a video naming the vocal commands used by the Guards. (and maybe video references?)
there aren’t any corporals in the foot guards just lance corporals and then lance sergeants but the lance corporals ceremonial role is to make sure the century is on stag on time so the guard who is starting his duty will stand next to the guard coming off duty and the lance corporal will shout something along the lines of century’s pass where the old guard will fall out or return to the guards room and the new guard will be told his mission by the lance corporal

Those 'hob nailed boots' are bloody dangerous on the Windsor parade ground! How do those lads manage to perform so well! Brilliant!

I was going to comment the same, guard at 10:57 what in the shit is he doing with that damn arm of his
But at least the lcpl is now a lsgt which means he's still in charge of place the sentries but not all the time

Understand it's the first ceremonial guard in the morning so keeping it quite, but could have been better. Still smart as.
