Another tip- for portraits use the longest zoom setting (that’s practical) with the closest distance to subject for the best subject-background separation. You’ll actually get a little bokeh
A fun accessory that you can get pretty cheaply is a little SD card reader for your phone or tablet (either lightning or USB-C) and you can transfer to your phone or tablet on the go so you don't have to mess with the computer and airdropping and all that.
More and more film camera cool kids jumping on that digi-cam band wagon. Kodak should take note, this is what happens when you price a product at a premium whilst forgetting there’s an excellent alternative format available.

U do understand Kodak is outselling every camera brand because of their digicams? Look it up… number one camera in Japan in pixpro from Kodak. Though technically they are made by Kodak but they use their name… kind of interesting
Some hidden gems are the Ricoh Digital GR camera's (not to be confused with the newer aps-c sensor ones). These have a ccd sensor with a very nice black and white color profile and the Ricoh Digital GRiii even focuses at 1cm which is insane not even the newer models can do that.
Got into the digicam bandwagon and got a Lumix TZ7 and the tiny Ixus 780is. I forgot how small (and even tiny) these camera’s are. And when you really explore their functions, they can really make good images
Growing up when these box cameras were everywhere, I'm starting to think the "retro" and "vintage" aesthetic, whether 60s, 80s, or 2000s, is cool primarily because people make it cool in the present.
Old DSLR cameras with CCD sensors can give you that "film" look and offer countless interchangeable lens options. I picked up a Nikon D200 and best part, it only cost around for only $50-$100. Coupled that with the ability to use hundreds of vintage manual focus Nikon F-mount lenses, this is my digital film camera.
My favorite “dedicated photographic device” or camera, is the one that’s on me. Whether or not it’s film/digital or high/low mp, they always get the job done!
Love my digicams. I have a 2003 Kodak CX6330 (3MP), a 2008 Nikon Coolpix L18 (8MP), and a 2012 Panasonic DMC-ZS20 (14MP). The Kodak actually has an optical viewfinder.
I enjoy using a Fujifilm FinePix AX655 for its 16MP CMOS sensor in such a tiny package. It is always in my every day carry bag I take to work. Lately, I have been leaving it in B&W mode as its default setting. Because it is 16MP, I can throw away the weirdness on the outside of the image, distortions, etc. If I still have 10 or 12MP remaining, that is still going to work for sharing on FB.
i used to have a FinePix JZ250. It was a great camera with a 16mp sensor, but sadly it broke earlier this year. I have since gotten a Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ5, which is extremely premium but i still miss the fuji.
I found my old Olympus FE-170 (from 2006) that always had a "low battery" error even when it was fully charged (and with new rechargeable batteries)... so I decided to clean the contacts with isopropyl alcohol and bend the metal terminals to improve contact... now it's back on and I'm looking for tips on how to take good photos with it (even though I know it's a very limited camera)
I own or have shot with a ton of these digicams. In regards to the Canon Powershot cameras, you really should look for more than cool shapes or fun colors. For instance, the SD1000 shown here has the smallest sensor of the entire line, meaning poor low light performance and overall not so great photos. The models in the SD line to look for are the SD900, which has the same sensor and image processor as the Powershot G7. The 950IS, which has the same sensor and processor as the G9 and the 990IS, which has the same sensor and processor as the G10. The 950 and 990 also have image stabilization and titanium bodies which are excellent. You also have the SD500/550, which have slightly smaller but still very good 1/1.8" sensors. Then you have the newer Powershot S cameras. Again, look for specific models. The S90/S95/S200 have the same sensor and processor from the G11 and G12. The S100/110 have the same sensor and processor as the G15 and the S120 has the same sensor and processor as the G16. It should be noted that starting with the S90/S95, Canon went from CCD to CMOS sensors, so you need to get one of the prior S model cameras if you want the CCD sensors. I would avoid the rest of the SD lineup as they have tiny sensors, average lenses and cheap build quality, especially the newer ones made in China rather than Japan like the older ones. Have fun
@@calmmarketing welcome. G9X is not a digicam. Well I mean, it’s a digital camera but a “digicam” is generally considered a CCD sensor point and shoot between 3-8 megapixels made between 2002-2010.

Fun video, i recently got into digicams to go along with my larger fuji x system. For me i feel the key is having a CCD sensor, thats the main difference between older cameras and todays cameras. If you look out for one thing, its a CCD sensor in my view. I run a Canon G10 which is a 14.7mp CCD sensor, probably one of the last CCD sensors in an easy to find camera. Love the build quality and professional ergos, it has a great lens and can shoot RAW if needed or wanted. it even has customiseable 'film simulations' nothing like my fuji but its there.

I am considering to have a sony cybershot dmc w530. It is 14 mp but i think if i increase ISO and lower the sharpness, i will have that grain filmy image. Am i right?
Tbh, i didnt really "jump with the bandwagon", its just that a point and shoot digicam is the only one i have lol. I didnt even buy it, it was left by the previous house owner and i just used it hahaha
This cameras price has become a bit crazy. Glad I picked up a model later (SD770) which is pretty much the same except pretty notable improvements (image stabilization, bigger sensor, 10 megapixels).
Why do I get the top end 2003 digicam (Minolta Dimage Z1) for like 9 dollars and it doesnt even have a film like look? It was like 700 at launch and it got down to 9. Made in japan, whopping 3.2 megapixels, 10 x optical zoom, and it doesnt even look film-ish
What kind of film look are you trying to achieve? If you want grainy, then high ISO can add noise, which some people say looks like film. If you want bright colors like say Fuji Velvia, increase saturation and maybe adjust the color curve in postprocessing to be warmer. I used a Minolta dImage, lovely camera. It was my first "prosumer" digital and gave lots of control. It especially was good for macro photography.
I have a collection of over 50 of the Canon digicams from the very first upwards. And yes they are fun but old Samsung S10 just takes way better images...I use them to constrain my narrative by using a tiny SD card to limit picture taking and create focus. Oh and I use the good old Picasa 3 to tweak the images
the downfall of digicam is their stinginess in lens spec, 2.8 - 5.6 with tiny sensor ? how you convince people to stop using their f1.8 camera phone with better image most of the time
People wanting to shoot these old digital cameras baffles me. I have these and they're not good 87% of the time. Old rangefinders like Olympus RC's or Pen's are just way better. Or save up and get an older GR. You can always make good pictures less good vs trying to make avg-at-best pics good.
Another tip- for portraits use the longest zoom setting (that’s practical) with the closest distance to subject for the best subject-background separation. You’ll actually get a little bokeh

This cameras price has become a bit crazy. Glad I picked up a model later (SD770) which is pretty much the same except pretty notable improvements (image stabilization, bigger sensor, 10 megapixels).
Brother, where can I get this camera? i need one.
where did you get batteries?
I just found my old powershot elph 520 hs gonna carry this around instead of my dslr and see what I can do after watching this 😂
I remember when the S90 and S95 came out. Always really wanted one of those. Sleek little cameras. Time flies.. haha. Would be fun to try one today.
I resurrected from the hibernation my 12y old s95. Works like new and I enjoy it like never before :)
What si thé modèle offre This canon?
I love the Canon SD1000 and I alway shot all the time.
Price
I still got my sd1000 from back in the day.
Saw a video titled, "Shooting with a vantage point and shoot." Lawdamercy.
I found a Canon Sd1000 for 6.99 at a thrift store. surprised it works too just needed a new battery
THX☺
I want a digicam from Amazon and I want it cheap 😿 can anyone help me
These cameras are kind of good in sunlight but not so good in low light conditions
Need part 2
They’re fun but, there’s a reason why smartphone cameras displaced these in the 2010s.
I use mine like I use my Instax stuff. To goof off.
100% on battery life. I have the S95 and like using it for video but that kills the battery life.
It can't be charged using an USB cord?
Lol it’s called “Visual Supply Company” (VSCO) 8:42
Nice video mate, been shooting the s95 raw for a while now. Love the camera and the images, managed to snag it for $30 👀
Great video, unfortunately the are not so cheap anymore
I have a collection of over 50 of the Canon digicams from the very first upwards. And yes they are fun but old Samsung S10 just takes way better images...I use them to constrain my narrative by using a tiny SD card to limit picture taking and create focus. Oh and I use the good old Picasa 3 to tweak the images
the downfall of digicam is their stinginess in lens spec, 2.8 - 5.6 with tiny sensor ? how you convince people to stop using their f1.8 camera phone with better image most of the time
It's not about the specs or image quality at all tho. Digicams gives charming pics, not good quality.
@@Balls_haver many digicam had tinnier sensor than modern phone camera, they look worse from every aspect
Get a Sony carl Zeiss cybershot
People wanting to shoot these old digital cameras baffles me. I have these and they're not good 87% of the time. Old rangefinders like Olympus RC's or Pen's are just way better. Or save up and get an older GR. You can always make good pictures less good vs trying to make avg-at-best pics good.
am i first?? (shocked) lmao
