And though Klay is washed, he’s still your 2nd best player even in 2024 (18 ppg, 39% from 3PT, 93% FT).. ? Draymond not that good uh no comparison, he’s not a shooter. The dubs are not mediocre, they had the best record in the western conference in the 2nd half of the year, draymond was suspended for 14 games, and the dubs lost 12 games by 3 points or less. It was a tough year, but we could easily have finished in 4th if the ball bounced our way. getting rid of klay is addition by subtraction and buddy hield / kyle anderson are great 3 and d guys. Klay has been a defensive liability the last two years and his shooting was very streaky last year. The team actually played much better when he was on the bench and one of the young guys was playing. Buddy Hield isn't a great D player either but at least he's coming in at less than half the salary. Not a bad deal for just giving up a 2nd round pick in 2031. Warriors will at least keep the spacing needed with his 3 point shooting.

He also isn’t in position to care bout stats or role like Klay but at this point can perform comparable with his 3 point shot. If they get markennan it puts warriors in a GREAT position developing Kuminga while being competitive. Kuminga will finally have a top 3 option locked with Wiggins showing im his in aptitude for multiple years in a row and Klay gone.

I wish people actually understood the second apron. It’s not a “second apron tax,” it’s that your first round pick is frozen and moved to the end of the first round and you can’t aggregate salaries or receive players in sign and trades. Now it is true that the owners implemented this is that they had an excuse not to pay that much? Yes. But that’s a sunk cost and a little disingenuous to use as part of the analysis considering that one of the reasons the owners pushed for the second apron was because the Warriors and Clippers were spending as much money as they wanted.
I would’ve loved for them to resign Klay and I don’t fault him for leaving because they weren’t offering him enough. I wish him well in Dallas, and we’re gonna miss him. But I get why they didn’t.

Nick is being super disingenuous right now especially about the extensions given to other players:
    1) Jordan Poole and Wiggins both got extended after the 2022 chip where both players had career years Wiggins was 2nd best player in the finals and Poole arguably looked like the 2nd best player on the team for the duration of the season…
    2) draymond got extended last season and that was a bit controversial…. Mostly cuz of the Jordan Poole situation
But in terms of production he was still contributing to winning…
    3) klay this season despite his numbers not being horrible was bad for the warriors… part of that could b mentally because of his contract situation but also because his body is declining and he can’t get his shot off like before or defending at the same level…
    4) buddy heild is expected to be as productive if not more productive than klay on both ends and he’s only getting 9 mil for the next 2 seasons… that’s a way better contract than klay
    5) Kyle Anderson can’t shoot or anything but he has a ton of winning intangibles and plays great defense and can legit guard 1-4
    6) the warriors still have flexibility to make yet another move this offseason with the draft picks and players they can trade… personally I think if they get a decent big ie nick Claxton that they’ll have the ability to compete in the west….
Not guaranteed contenders but definitely be a scary playoff team to match up with

Nick doesn't make sense. Klay didn't get half of what Draymond got. Klay bet on himself and wouldn't take 2/48 a YEAR before he had to enter FA. Draymond had to wait until free agency and had leverage because he could have walked. This is the same reason we overpaid Poole. If we had to give it to Poole after another good year fine. But Poole had no leverage to get that deal done earlier.

Klay should consider the team as a whole. you can get your pay but it will affect their chance of getting championship. Sorry buddy you cant get it all and thats the reality.

If Klay is happy in his heart to leave california I don’t blame him. That alone could be comfort he needs to perform better. HOWEVER, only the warriors know the gamble they would take if they kept him. To hope he is actually consistent in the next season is a risk u don’t take when you are warriors and know Klay and see his patterns. I’m sure it wasn’t an easy decision to make. But we gotta move on from this.

I think a pissed off Klay in Dallas is likely to be far more effective than a contented Klay in CAwould have been period. I'm a Dubs fan and hope Klat lights it up wherever he goes, but will not delude myself with any regret if he does. Apple's & oranges.

  • @DoremonUCR
    @DoremonUCR 2 дні тому

They paid him when he was injured. When he came back he was bad. Yeah they won chips with him, but also had KD. First chip, they got lucky with a decimated Cavs team. Last chip, Wiggins and Poole played out of their minds. It's a business, they don't owe him anything. You're paid on performance. Only Steph should get that treatment.

Signing Klay in GS wasn't winning them anything. Their last title the match ups broke just right. Grats to them. I happened to the Bucks. The matches worked. For the Bucks since the match ups haven't and they've hardly won a playoff series. Yet they are pretty much the same team. Klay's defense hasn't been good after his injuries. He's a hot or cold shooter. You are winning nothing with a guy like that. Before the injury he was still a hot or cold player, but he played great defense balancing out those 1-12 and 0-10 from three game he has. Good teams know when to move on. GS was smart to move on. He wasn't going to help GS win anything. GS cord is old and not close to elite anymore. Running it back again wasn't going to work. All three are another year older and slower. Baring horrible injuries the good teams in the West are only going to get better. They are young. GS is old. Good luck with that.
